- Nicknamed "The Back" because of her dresses that were more than backless--they were cut down to just above the gluteal cleft, causing quite a commotion. The Limeliters wrote a song titled "Vikki Dougan" to commemorate this phenomenon, in which they sing of her "callipygian cleft" ("callipygian" meaning "having shapely buttocks") and beg her, "Vikki, turn your back on me".
- Her backless dress style was an inspiration for Jessica Rabbit's design in Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988).
- Has a daughter, Debbie (b. 1950), with her first husband, William.
- Subtracted six years from her age before marrying her second husband, who was younger than her.
- She was earning $250 a week modelling when Paramount offered her a contract. Since her weekly salary as an actress would have been considerably less, she spurned the offer.
- Changed her name from Edith Tooker to Vikki Dougan, adopting the first name of the actress Vicki Lester and her mother's maiden name as her surname.
- In January 1964, Cavalier magazine featured twelve nude photographs of Vikki Dougan in a pictorial entitled "The Back is Back", resulting in Dougan bringing a lawsuit against the magazine, stating that the magazine did not have permission to publish them. The photographs had been posed for Playboy but Dougan had subsequently declined to let Playboy publish the photographs.
- Began modelling at the age of eleven. She won multiple beauty pageants, including the Miss Coney Island pageant and the eighth annual New York Skate Queen contest.
