Ahead of a jam-packed Summer Olympics schedule, NBC has opted to cancel not one but two Peacock reality shows.
For most TV shows, getting past that first season is usually a good sign for potential staying power. According to Statista, a little over 12% of all shows on streaming services have gotten the ax in the last three years. Unfortunately for fans of two Peacock reality shows, their favorite shows are just the latest victims of the unforgiving television landscape.
First reported by Deadline, NBC has cancelled LA Fire & Rescue and Hot Wheels: Ultimate Challenge. Both reality shows premiered less than a year ago on Peacock. It appears that each show was cancelled in an attempt to make room for NBC’s coverage of the upcoming Paris Olympic Games, which begins on July 26. NBC will air the Olympics across its extensive family of networks.

Dick Wolf is no stranger to showcasing heroics on the small screen. The prolific producer has an entire weeknight dedicated to his first-responder shows: “Chicago Fire,” “Chicago Pd” and “Chicago Med.” Now with the new docuseries “LA Fire & Rescue,” premiering Wednesday, the super producer is helping showcase the real-life heroics of members of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Wolf serves as an executive producer on the unscripted project, joining forces with Tom Thayer (Wolf Entertainment), Rasha Drachkovitch (44 Blue) and Robyn Younie, who serves as showrunner.

Vice TV is following up tonight’s “Vice Versa: Chyna” documentary with next week’s installment, “Vice Versa: Fear of a Black Quarterback,” TheWrap has learned. We can also exclusively debut the trailer for the June 24 premiere.

The “Dark Side of Football” Season 1 participants would make a pretty darn good NFL roster – and the storylines should make for some entertaining TV.
The six, one-hour episodes of Vice’s “Dark Side of the Ring” spinoff will include an episode on Bill Belichick, another focused on the origins of the Oakland Raiders’ notorious reputation and a third that explores the league’s painkiller problem and the often tragic results of its unwritten rule to “play with the pain,” in the docuseries’ words.
And that’s literally just the half of it. Other subjects covered include violence among some hardcore fans, the pathetic (not last year!) Cleveland Browns, and one episode dedicated entirely to diva wide receivers, TheWrap has learned.
Participants interviewed for and appearing in the program include Chad Johnson, Mike Ditka, Plaxico Burress, Donte Stallworth, Jemele Hill, Bill Romanowski, Jim McMahon, Ricky Williams, Kyle Turley and Lincoln Kennedy,...

Fox is pushing deeper into unscripted programming after the breakout of The Masked Singer, re-teaming with producer Dick Wolf on First Responders Live. Hosted by Josh Elliott, the show will premiere June 12. It promises “an unprecedented look at fearless first responders as they answer emergency calls across the country.” The territory explored by First Responders Live is already marked in the scripted realm by Wolf’s Chicago-set dramas centered around police and fire units (as well as hospital and legal personnel), but the new series takes the concept into real life. In basic cable, A&E’s Live Pd has gotten significant traction with a similar approach, delivering the network its highest ratings of any of its current shows and some enviable stats in on-demand viewing as well.
For Wolf, the venture marks a return to Fox, which aired his show New York Undercover for four seasons in the mid-1990s.

Chef Paul Wahlberg launched the Boston restaurant Wahlburgers along with his actor brothers Donnie and Mark; it was inevitable that a TV series chronicling their culinary adventures would follow. A&E's Wahlburgers, which debuted in January, returns Wednesday for a second season of episodes. Besides the Wahlberg brothers, the show also features family matriarch Alma Wahlberg, as well as childhood buddies Henry "Nacho" Laun and Johnny "Drama" Alves. Executive producer Rasha Drachkovitch (Lockup) filled out our showrunner survey to explain why we should try a taste of Wahlburgers.

When Rasha Drachkovitch first approached Mark Wahlberg about making a reality show about his family, Wahlberg asked him: “Are you sure there’s a TV show here?” Drachkovitch , a veteran reality producer, soon learned there was more than enough. “Wahlburgers,” a new hit for A&E, gives fans a comical look at Mark and Donnie’s burger business with the chef in the family, their brother Paul. Their mother Alma steals scenes and keeps everyone down to earth. Mark’s childhood friends Henry “Nacho” Laun and Johnny “Drama” Alves, who also helped inspire “Entourage,” provide added comic relief. Also read:...

Actors/pop singers/producers Mark and Donnie Wahlberg can add reality TV stars to their resumes with A&E’s Wahlburgers. While A&E’s flagship Duck Dynasty has lost some of its ratings prowess this season, it has helped launch a potential new breakout for the network in freshman reality series Wahlburgers, which chronicles brothers Mark, Donnie and Paul Wahlberg’s efforts to expand their burger restaurant business in the Boston area. Three weeks into Wahlburgers‘ run, A&E has ordered 18 more episodes of the series, double its original order of 9 episodes. Wahlburgers, which follows Duck Dynasty, has seen audience growth week to week, averaging 3.5 million total viewers to date. “Viewers are responding to the heartwarming dynamics of Boston’s first family as they balance living in the Hollywood spotlight and growing a business,”said David McKillop, General Manager and Evp of A&E. Wahlburgers is produced by 44 Blue Prods.

He's been nominated for two Academy Awards. He's had a No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. His latest movie opened to $37 million earlier this month. So why would Mark Wahlberg want to star in a reality show?
"I thought kind of the same thing," executive producer Rasha Drachkovitch tells TVGuide.com. "It definitely helps that the subject matter is his family and the family business."
That family business, the Hingham, Mass., restaurant Wahlburgers, is the focus of the new A&E reality show of the same name. Premiering Wednesday at 10:30/9:30c, the docu-series follows Wahlberg, along with his two brothers, singer and Blue Bloods star Donnie and chef Paul Wahlberg, in their adventures running a restaurant together.

A&E announced today it will premiere its latest homage to the Wahlberg brothers on January 22; Wahlburgers will show brothers Mark and Donnie heading back to Boston to join forces with brother Paul in a hamburger restaurant that’s already working on its second location, and serves as home base for the gang from the old neighborhood, including, A&E says, the real Johnny “Drama” Alves, Henry “Nacho” Laun, Mark’s chidhood pal Billy Leonard, and family matriarch Alma. This is not to be confused with the teamsters reality-series pilot A&E had ordered from Mark Wahlberg, the Boston-set six-episode reality series about four female friends struggling to break through their blue-collar surroundings that A&E ordered from Mark Wahlberg, or Donnie Wahlberg’s reality series Boston Finest that somehow escaped A&E’s notice and wound up on TNT. “We’re thrilled to partner with the entire Wahlberg family...

We're less than two weeks away from the 2011 San Diego Comic Con, and convention organizers have finally released the schedule for the first day of programing. You can find the full schedule on comic-con.org [1], or after the jump I've listed the film and television highlights, which includes the Masters of the Web panel which I've been invited to be a panelist on (In full disclosure, I've been asked to be on this panel for a few years now, but I've only just recently gotten over my fear of speaking in front of large audiences). It should be a fun panel, and I hear they will be giving away some really cool prizes as well. If past years are any indication, Comic-Con will begin releasing its official 2011 panel schedule later today (Wednesday) with the schedule for Preview Night, Wednesday, July 20. If that happens then we can expect them to follow suit for the rest of the days, so that Thursday will see the release of the Thursday of Con schedule, etc., through Sunday.
Once the official schedules are posted these “TV and Movie Panels and Screenings Updates” will be scaled back to just the date, time, title, and location, since the rest of the information and So Much More (including comics panels, autograph signings, etc.) will be available on the Comic-Con schedule link we’ll provide. Consider this, then, the last of the extremely long posts, and hopefully we’ll be getting that official schedule soon.
Hmm, here’s an interesting matchup: Glee will be in Hall H on Sunday at 10:00; Supernatural will be...

Cameras will capture life aboard two Us warships (the USS San Antonio and USS Boxer), as they patrol the Gulf of Aden for pirates who hijack commercial transport vessels.
The show, titled "Pirate Hunters: Usn," is produced by 44 Blue Productions ("The True Story of Black Hawk Down," "Lockup") and Adam Friedman ("Vertical Ascent").

A&E Network has ordered a half-hour unscripted pilot centering on the elite gang unit of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
The project, tentatively titled "L.A. Gang Unit", follows the highly experienced officers of the department's Gang Task Force who work in South Central Los Angeles. It's being produced by 44 Blue Prods., with company president and co-owner Rasha Drachkovitch serving as executive producer with actor-producer Shane Conrad, son of actor Robert Conrad.
Robert Sharenow, who is executive producing for A&E with Laura Fleury, said the project offers "unprecedented access" to the LASD.
"It really gives you insight into a previously unseen world and a look at just how complicated and challenging this branch of law is," Sharenow said, adding that the project would "fit perfectly with our crime and justice franchise."
Drachkovitch said 44 Blue sparked to the project when Shane Conrad, a reserve deputy sheriff, approached the company with the idea. He noted the difficulty in securing the LASD's consent to allow cameras to follow officers around.
