Suits has now become one of the most-watched TV shows on Netflix with over 3.14 billion minutes of watch time surpassing the fantasy drama Manifest. The USA Network legal drama had everything working for it when it came out on the streaming service including brilliant characters, thrilling storylines, a genius blend of comedy and drama, and last but certainly not least Meghan Markle.
Now, that we know what kind of success a good television drama can achieve on Netflix, we are faced with another question and that is if a show with all the good qualities that Suits had minus Meghan Markle, comes out on Netflix will it enjoy the same fate as the legal drama or not. So, let’s find out.

Co-composers Rachel Portman and Jon Ehrlich have only met in person once, and collaborated across the globe while scoring Hulu’s “We Were the Lucky Ones.”
Despite this, both Portman and Ehrlich said that working across continents was one of the best parts of the process. Erhlich said: “She would work on something, and then I would wake up in the morning and go to the studio and unwrap a gift. Then by the end of my day, I was handing it off to her, and she could kind of pick up where I left off. It was really a kind of passing the baton back and forth.”
The series is an adaptation of Georgia Hunter’s best-selling novel of her family’s fight to survive the Holocaust while living in Poland. Joey King stars as Halina, Hunter’s great aunt alongside Logan Lerman as Addy, Hunter’s grandfather. Other cast members include Sam Woolf,...

Music-rights organization Sesac plans to co-fund a new foundation designed to support minority film and TV composers, officials announced at last night’s annual Film & Television Composer Awards in Santa Monica.
The Key Change Foundation, created by “Frozen” and “Ant-Man” composer Christophe Beck, “will provide grants to support scores by emerging film composers from underrepresented groups,” said Sesac VP of film and TV Erin Collins.
It’s a long-planned follow-up to Sesac Scores: The Beck Diversity Project, a mentorship program launched last year and designed to “make a meaningful impact on the historically low number of women and people of color hired in the film composer community.”
Over the past year, Sesac Scores held six events, involving more than 350 participants and hosted by industry figures including Beck, composer John Swihart (“How I Met Your Mother”), agent Richard Kraft and others.

Allison Burnett, an La-based filmmaker friend, may have discovered a new revenue stream for struggling musicians and a way for indie filmmakers to afford quality music. While he was plotting the production of his latest film Undiscovered Gyrl (image above), he decided he didn't want his budget to be consumed by the cost of music publishing and sync rights for well-known songs. Instead he invited female singer-songwriters not much older than the protagonist to submit tracks to be considered for his movie. Unbelievably, he did this reach-out on Craig's List and soon had a hundred songs to chose from. Here's Mr. Burnett's take on his unprecedented song-gathering process:
I recently directed the film adaptation of my novel Undiscovered Gyrl. It is the story of Katie Kampenfelt, an 18-year-old who decides to take a year off before college and start a blog. What begins as the diary of a bubbly, funny teenage girl,...
