Back at the beginning of July in the daily Briefs, I started the Official snicks Top 100 Lost Hits of The 80's, spotlighting the 100 greatest minor hits of that decade. The songs you don't hear on any 80's nostalgia show. Songs that missed the top ten, or top twenty ... or top forty, and over the last five months I hope some of these forgotten gems may have rung a long dormant bell, or for younger readers, provided a pop music history lesson.
Here is the complete list, including my favorite lost song of the decade. Thank you for taking this 80's road trip with me ... but it's not over yet! I'll be featuring a new Lost Hit once a week in the Wednesday Briefs, so the history lesson will continue!
Let the countdown commence, and remember ... keep your feet on the ground, and keep reaching for the stars!

Whilst doing a spot of channel surfing the other day, I found myself lured into the 80’s classic Teen Wolf, and I had forgotten just how much I love the so-cheesy-it’s good basketball montage at the end. It struck me that, even now, there’s something so satisfying about seeing a character that we’re really rooting for overcoming some kind of adversity, or solving a problem, set to the soundtrack of a dodgy power ballad/synth track.
So, without further ado, here are five of my favourite montages of the 80’s. Prepare to be roused!
1- Teen Wolf
To fill you in, if you’re not aware, Michael J. Fox’s character, Scott, has up until now been ‘Wolfing Out’ which ironically means that not only does he become cool and all the popular kids like him, it also makes him an ace basketball player in the process...

Before you even get started: 1) Rocky was released in 1976, so "Eye of the Tiger" doesn't even qualify for this list, and 2) it wouldn't have merited inclusion anyhow because, by "inexplicable," I mean bad. So, you won't be seeing any Kenny Loggins on this list (Loggins' worst songs were better than any of the ones below), nor will you see "Fame," or any other '80s soundtrack song that didn't abuse synthesizers. I have no doubt that many of you actually like some of these songs, but they only worked given their context and the decade. Unless it's a parody movie, you can't use any of these songs anymore. Because they are bad. Very bad.
And please, do not try to justify the quality of number two. "Hit Me With Your Best Shot," or "Love is a Battlefield" or "Hell is for Children," maybe. But that song? No.
10. Nothin's Gonna Stop Us Now,...

There are plenty of different kinds of montages in the language of film, and they can fill you in on everything from the emotional state of your characters to a wacky makeover. So while a good montage sequence will explain everything you need to know in the most economical way possible, one of my favorite kinds is the "Rise to Power" montage -- which brings me to Scarface. I love Brian De Palma's crime opus for so many reasons, but I think when it comes to the art of the montage, I have a soft spot for cheese -- and it doesn't get much more pungent than Giorgio Moroder, the patron saint of 80's movie music.
