Industrial Light + Magic president Chrissie England is preparing to pass the reins to executive in charge of production Lynwen Brennan.
The transition will occur over a six-month period and in February, Brennan will become president and Gm of Ilm. England, a 30-year veteran of the company, will take on an advisory role in client relationships, marketing, and general business and production strategies.
The succession plan has been two years in the works. Said England in a released statement: "At this juncture in my career I need to rebalance my priorities so that I can devote more attention to my family. As succession plans go, this is really an ideal scenario."
Brennan joined Ilm as a technical area lead for the computer graphics department in 1999. She was promoted to her current role in July 2006. Earlier, she was an original member of Parallax Software and held marketing positions at Avid and Alias/Wavefront.
