Screenwriter Carl Ellsworth has been hired by Paramount Pictures to rewrite C.O.D., an action-thriller that currently doesn't have a director attached to it. As reported by The Hollywood Reporter (because that's what they do, report on stuff), C.O.D. is about a NYC bike courier who has to deliver three live bombs or else another will go off and take out his family. Why can't terrorists just pay bike couriers like everyone else? I guess that's part of what makes them bad guys.
DreamWorks bought the C.O.D. script in March 2008. When Dw split from Paramount, one of the projects that Paramount got custody of was C.O.D. The original script was written by Lars Jacobson. Barry Josephson (Bones, Aliens in the Attic) and former movie executive assistant Neal Flaherty are producing.

DreamWorks has preemptively shelled out mid-six figures for "C.O.D". ("Cash on Delivery") from newcomer Lars Jacobson.
Barry Josephson is producing through Josephson Entertainment along with Neal Flaherty and his new Royal Prospect banner.
About a year ago, Georgia-based Jacobson sent a script sample to Flaherty. That one didn't fly, but the two conjured up a new concept and worked on it long-distance via phone and e-mail.
The story line centers on a Manhattan bike messenger who becomes America's most wanted man when he's forced to deliver three bombs under threat of his family receiving one. He must avoid capture by the authorities while trying to deliver the bombs with an entire nation looking for him.
Buzz over the script built before it went out to studios and potential buyers on Thursday, and on Saturday Flaherty received word of the deal coming together.
Veteran producer Josephson was behind the Disney hit "Enchanted".
Jacobson, who recently moved to Los Angeles, is repped by Original Artist and attorney Ryan Nord.

Bold Films is digging "The Hole", picking up the spec script from writer Mark L. Smith.
The story revolves around two brothers who uncover a mysterious never-ending hole in the basement of their new home that appears to be a supernatural portal with the ability to release their worst nightmares.
Bold's Michel Litvak and David Lancaster will produce the supernatural thriller, while Benderspink's JC Spink, Chris Bender and Jake Weiner will executive produce. Gary Michael Walters of Bold is on board to exec produce.
Jon Silk found the script and brought it into Benderspink, where he teamed with Neal Flaherty to submit it to Bold's Jon Oakes and Garrick Dion, who took it into the company. Silk and Flaherty will co-produce.
Bold will finance.
"The script is great fun and a great scare and shows what happens when kids get a little too curious," Walters said.
Bold was behind Emilio Estevez's ensemble drama "Bobby" as well as "Mini's First Time", with Alec Baldwin and Nikki Reed.
