Marvel Studios recently placed a bow on the production of Ant-Man and the Wasp and with the film now heading into post ahead of its release this coming summer, we’re starting to learn a little more about it.
Though it remains unconfirmed, we’ve already heard that the sequel will begin with Scott Lang on house arrest. Still reeling from the events of Civil War – remember, just like Spider-Man: Homecoming before it, Ant-Man 2 will seemingly take place in the fallout of Marvel’s 2016 crossover – Paul Rudd’s hero is said to be enjoying more time with his daughter Cassie, though is quickly pulled back into the fray once he catches wind of Hope and Hank’s mission.
Sounds like another thrilling adventure for the titular hero, but if some new intel from ComicBook.com is to be believed, it’ll actually be quite different from both the first...

Hope Van Dyne won’t be the only one sporting a revamped suit in Ant-Man and the Wasp, as a new video from HBO has brought us closer to Scott Lang’s new duds as they’ll appear in the 2018 sequel.
Production on Peyton Reed’s pint-sized actioner continues apace ahead of that all-important release date – July 6th for those keeping tabs – and over the weekend, HBO uploaded the above video from Night Of Too Many Stars that features Rudd in his new costume, giving us our best look at it yet. Retaining the same black/red color scheme as its predecessor, this is a much cleaner super-suit for Scott Lang, who gears up “alongside The Wasp as the team works together to uncover secrets from their past.”

Marvel Studios is being very hush hush about any projects outside of the films that will take us through Avengers 4. These films are going to bring an end to the epic journey they started with Iron Man.
Laurence Fishburn is jumping into this universe as he is set to play Dr. Bill Foster in Ant-Man and The Wasp. But, apparently, there's another Marvel project that he's involved with and it's super secret. During an interview with Collider, he revealed that even though he was in Man of Steel, he's always been more partial to Marvel:
“I have figured out how to get myself into the Marvel Universe… I can only tell you that I, as a comic reader from childhood, I was a Marvel guy primarily because I grew up in New York City in the 60s and 70s when Marvel was really touching on everything that was happening in my world.

As Morpheus in The Matrix movies, Laurence Fishburne crossed the divide between the real world and virtual reality. Nowadays, he’s doing something similar once again – by having a foot in both the Marvel and DC superhero universes. From 2013’s Man of Steel onward, Fishburne plays Perry White, the chief of the Daily Planet, in the Dceu. Beginning with 2018’s Ant-Man and the Wasp though, the actor will appear in the McU, too, as the giant-sized superhero Bill Foster/Goliath.
Just because he’s not enough of a sci-fi/geek icon already though, Fishburne has now revealed that he has another project with Marvel in the bag. According to him, it’s something he pitched to the studio himself which he hopes will “change the world.” However, it has encountered problems, with “a lot of legal red tape” preventing it from moving ahead right away.

Some photos from the set of Ant-Man and The Wasp have surfaced giving us our first look at Michelle Pfeiffer as Janet Van Dyne. The photos also include Michael Douglas as Hank Pym. It looks like the scene that is being shot is a flashback because the actors look like they will be playing younger versions of themselves.
In the first Ant-Man film, Pym is mourning the loss of his wife, who has been lost in the sub-atomic realm. It looks like maybe the story of how this happened will be told. It will be interesting see how they end up bringing her back from that sub-atomic realm.
From the Marvel Cinematic Universe comes a new chapter featuring heroes with the astonishing ability to shrink: Ant-Man and The Wasp. In the aftermath of Captain America: Civil War, Scott Lang (Rudd) grapples with the consequences of his choices as both a Super Hero and a father.

Over the past month, we've seen a good amount of photos from the set of Marvel's Ant-Man and The Wasp. We don't have much information on the film's story other than the official synopsis that was previously released, which reads as follows:
From the Marvel Cinematic Universe comes a new chapter featuring heroes with the astonishing ability to shrink: Ant-Man and The Wasp. In the aftermath of Captain America: Civil War, Scott Lang (Rudd) grapples with the consequences of his choices as both a Super Hero and a father. As he struggles to rebalance his home life with his responsibilities as Ant-Man, he’s confronted by Hope van Dyne (Lilly) and Dr. Hank Pym (Douglas) with an urgent new mission. Scott must once again put on the suit and learn to fight alongside The Wasp as the team works together to uncover secrets from their past.

A new batch of photos have surfaced from the set of Marvel's Ant-Man and The Wasp. They feature Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) and The Wasp (Evangeline Lilly) working together side-by-side in costume. We also have some photos that give us a look at Michael Douglas as Hank Pym.
One of the things that I noticed in these photos is that Ant-Man and The Wasp both have retractible helmets. That will make things a lot more convenient for them as they are traveling around fighting evil-doers. They don't have to carry their helmets around with them everywhere they go.

One glance at the Marvel slate will tell you that Ant-Man and the Wasp finds itself sandwiched between Infinity War and the as-yet-untitled Avengers 4.
The only other McU film pencilled in for that same window is the long-in-development Captain Marvel solo movie, though Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck needn’t worry too much about continuity as the vast majority of their spinoff is set to unravel in the 1990s, when Carol Danvers crosses paths with the villainous Skrulls.
For Ant-Man and the Wasp, it’s a totally different story. The official synopsis states that Peyton Reed’s diminutive sequel takes place “in the aftermath of Captain America: Civil War,” when Scott Lang is on the run once again. In fact, that’s exactly what’s being depicted in this new batch of set photos below, which come to us by way of Just Jared and bring us closer to the...

A bunch of new photos have surfaced from the set of Marvel's Ant-Man and The Wasp. They give us our first look at Evangeline Lilly all decked out in her Wasp costume. She looks great and I can't wait to finally see The Wasp in action! You'll also see photos of Walton Goggins, who plays the corporate villain Sonny Burch.
The movie also stars Paul Rudd as Scott Lang, Michael Douglas as Dr. Hank Pym, Michael Pena as Luis, David Dastmalchian as Kurt, T.I. as Dave, Randall Park as S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Jimmy Woo, Hannah John-Kamen as the Ghost, Michelle Pfeiffer as Janet Van Dyne, the wife of Hank Pym, and Laurence Fishburne as Dr. Bill Foster, who was an assistant to both Tony Stark and Hank Pym in the comics. He eventually takes on Pym’s Giant Man abilities and becomes a superhero known as Goliath.

Ant-Man and The Wasp has officially begun production! With a little under a year left until the film’s July 6, 2018 release date, this is certainly great news for fans who are clamoring for more adventures with their favorite miniature heroes. Although this quick of a turnaround for a movie this size is certainly unusual, we will have three McU films before this one even comes out. As the first film to follow Avengers: Infinity War, Ant-Man and The Wasp should address some of the eventual fallout from the the McU’s biggest movie to date. The penultimate question is how much time will be spent on universe building as opposed to telling the story of our heroes.
Director Peyton Reed will return to helm the film, with Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly reprising their roles as the title characters, in addition to Michael Douglas as Hank Pym. Most of the supporting cast will return.

It's a silly announcement trailer but it it's indicative of the fun Marvel has had with this character, and plans to have. Ant-Man was one of a few films that had the potential to knock Marvel off of its pedestal. It was a relatively unknown character — and those who knew about the character likely felt there was no way to adapt him to the big screen. It had the potential to be goofy, stupid, and all-around underwhelming, especially since it was set to hit after the more epic Avengers: Age of Ultron.
The end result was a bit surprising. It was a pull back in scope, no doubts there, but after Age of Ultron, it was a much needed palate cleanser. It proved that things didn’t necessarily have to keep getting bigger and bigger in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In fact, this world had the potential to get as big as it needed before going back down to a more personal story. This is exactly what Ant-Man did, and audiences and critics alike responded well.

In the first Ant-Man film, Pym is mourning the loss of his wife, who has been lost in the sub-atomic realm. and it will be interesting to see how they end up Bringing her into the story!
As for Fishburne's character, Bill Foster, he is a scientist who once worked alongside Hank Pym. He also became a size-changing superhero known as Black Goliath.

Pfeiffer's Janet Van Dyne is the original Wasp, and the mother of Hope Van Dyne, played by Evangeline Lilly in Ant-Man and the Wasp.
In the Marvel comics, Janet is a founding member of the Avengers, and continued as a superhero even after her husband, Hank Pym (the original Ant-Man, played by Michael Douglas in the film), retired. She was eventually lost, however, in a sub-atomic realm and assumed to be dead.

We are, at the time of writing, exactly one year out from the theatrical release of Ant-Man and the Wasp here in the States, and it seems Marvel is ready to fire things up on Peyton Reed’s diminutive sequel.
Tonight during their San Diego Comic-Con panel, the studio kicked things off with Scott Lang’s next solo adventure, revealing that Michelle Pfeiffer has joined the cast as Janet Van Dyne. Furthermore, they revealed that Hannah John-Kamen will be playing Ghost, Randall Park is set to portray Agent Jimmy Woo and Laurence Fishburne will climb on board as Bill Foster. Not only that, but Marvel also offered up some exciting new concept art for the sequel, which should be online shortly. Once it is, we’ll be sure to update this post.
Circling back to the casting though, and this is certainly exciting news. The biggest takeaway here is obviously Pfeiffer as Janet Van Dyne.

Flashpoint is the new name for The Flash movie, it's been confirmed...
It was announced at San Diego Comic-Con over the weekend that the Flash movie is now called Flashpoint and will adapt Geoff Johns' famous and controversial storyline, which saw Barry Allen go back in time to save his mother from being killed by Reverse-Flash. The change had huge ramifications for the future of the DC Universe, altering many things and eventually leading to a brand new timeline known as the New 52 in the comics.
See related Vikings renewed for season 5
While that's unlikely to happen here, it could allow for a refresh of some of the more controversial elements of the Dceu. More importantly, though, this opens the door to a significant number of potential superheroic guest stars.

Disclaimer: This editorial contains spoilers for Issues 1 & 2 of the Marvel crossover event, Civil War II.
In the words of singer Edwin Star, “War! What is it good for? Aboslutely noth’n”. This is exactly how I feel about the “Civil War” going within the Marvel Universe right now. Why would I feel that way? What can make me believe that a follow up companywide crossover to one of the biggest storylines for Marvel is “good for noth’n”? Well there quite a few reasons for such a conclusion, but first a little background on how Marvel works for those unaware.
Each year the great editors and writers of Marvel go off to a “retreat” where tons of ideas, plots, and concepts and just about anything for the company are discussed. This not so secret retreat has been going on for quite a few years with much of the focus apparently...

As the old comic book fan phrase used to go, “nobody stays dead in comics… except Bucky, Jason Todd and Uncle Ben.” But then, in 2005, the former two names on that short list – younger aides to Captain America and Batman, respectively – both made big comebacks.
This served as further proof that death is never an end in comic book fiction. At times, it seems like the writers in charge of Marvel and DC will resurrect whoever the hell they like – via any wacky means they can dream up – if they can fill a few bankable issues with a decent story as a result.
Incredibly rarely, this isn’t the case. Once in every seven blue moons, a character will die and stay dead in a comic book. Now it’s time to salute these fallen comic book characters; the select few who haven’t found a way back from their demise…...

Episode 2 of Daredevil offers up one of the McU's best fight scenes ever. Here are James' viewing notes for the Netflix Marvel series...
With the whole series of Daredevil now available on Netflix, the race is on to reach the ending before someone spoils it for you. But that presents us with a problem. How do we approach reviews? It's not much use speculating about the future of the series when it's available at a moment's notice, but watching the whole thing in one go for a single review is impractical for anyone with a day job and personal relationships to maintain – to say nothing of how difficult it is to critically appraise 12 hours of television if you don't savour the instalments properly.
That's why, instead of traditional reviews, we're trying something new. An episode-by-episode unpicking of the show, looking at its techniques, characters and use of the source material.

Sin City: A Dame to Kill For actress Rosario Dawson jumped on board Marvel’s upcoming Daredevil Netflix series back in June, but the character that she’d be playing remained a mystery. This of course led to rampant fan speculation, pointing toward characters like Daredevil love interest and assassin Elektra, Jessica Jones (who’s getting her own Netflix series as well), and even more obscure heroes like White Tiger.
Well, the time for speculating is over, because Dawson’s role has finally been revealed. At the Nycc Daredevil panel this weekend, executive producer Jeph Loeb announced that Dawson will play an amalgam of two characters: Claire Temple and Night Nurse.
Claire Temple is the ex-wife of Bill Foster – the size-changing hero known as Goliath (who in turn has ties to Ant-Man‘s Hank Pym, played by Michael Douglas) - and is a doctor who became romantically involved with Luke Cage.

It may only be 30 seconds long, but what a glorious 30 seconds it is. This past Sunday, Marvel fans were graced with the release of the first promotional video for Joss Whedon's upcoming "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." series. While the promo may not have given us much new information about the show, it does shed some light on the mysterious role that Whedon alumni J. August Richards will be playing.
Prominently featured in two quick scenes, J. August Richards can been seen landing on the ground level of a large building (creating a huge crater upon impact) and effortlessly slamming an unknown assailant to the floor. Clearly, Richards' character has some sort of superhuman strength. But without any sort of recognizable costume to go off of, we still have no idea as to who he's actually portraying on the series!

Apparently one of my goals in life is to absorb the Marvel Civil War storyline in every possible medium, since I’ve just finished listening to GraphicAudio’s audiobook version of the prose adaptation by Stuart Moore, having previously read the main collection of graphic novels and then reviewed the prose adaptation. Well, what can I say? I like the story. Since we as consumers of stories invest in heroes in a way we frequently don’t in villains, clashes between heroes can be the most complex and emotionally engaging; and Civil War is one of the most logical storylines comics has ever come up with to explain why superheroes would be fighting with each other instead of the villains.
Also I was curious about GraphicAudio, an audiobook company whose tagline is “A Movie in Your Mind.” They describe their products as “a unique audio entertainment experience that features a full cast of actors,...

Chicago – If there’s one thing that Marvel superhero movies do well, it’s set up extremely-high expectations for the next Marvel superhero movie. “Iron Man 2” got us excited for “Thor.” Then “Thor” got us jazzed for “The Avengers,” And now “The Avengers”, the box-office-busting phenomenon, has the world chomping at the bit to get a look at “The Avengers 2.”
At the moment, all we know is that there definitely Will be a sequel and that the teaser scene that writer-director Joss Whedon placed in the end credits Might play a role in what comes next for Captain America and his super-powered pals. So, without any real concrete answers in place, fans and pundits alike have begun their expected clamoring to loudly declare their lists of demands and preferences for the inevitable “Avengers” sequel. New clip from MTV Movie Awards performers is a humorous take on intense 1993 Michael Douglas film.

Dave Grohl in Foo Fighters' video for "Walk"

The Foo Fighters' new "Walk" video is, rather oddly enough, a near re-creation of the 1993 film "Falling Down," the oft-disturbing portrait of the prototypical "angry white male" (as portrayed by Michael Douglas, complete with crew cut and short-sleeved work shirt) who is pushed to the brink by what he views as society's decay — immigrants, crime, greed, bureaucracy, the fact that McDonald's stops serving breakfast at 10:30 a.m. — and goes on a violent rampage as a result, culminating in a stand-off with police and his death. Only, you know, funny.

Marvel is pleased to present your first look at Ant-Man & The Wasp #1, featuring the work of acclaimed Hack/Slash creator, and one of my personal favourite comic creators, Tim Seeley
In left corner, Dr. Hank Pym – founding Avenger, scientific genius and the hero currently known as The Wasp. In the right corner, Eric O’Grady, roustabout, reformed criminal, and Secret Avenger trying to make good for… his theft of Pym’s Ant-Man armor! But before they settle their differences, these two generations of size-shifting Marvel heroes will forced to team-up — and shrink down — to rescue the soul of the former Goliath, Bill Foster, from the clutches of Aim! It’s danger on a whole new scale this November in Ant-Man & The Wasp #1 (of 3).

Actions have consequences and few people know this as well as Tony Stark, the Marvel hero known as Iron Man. Over the years, both he and his company have sometimes had a hand in creating powerful enemies.
One of the themes that's certainly relevant in "Iron Man 2," which debuted this weekend, is that some villains owe their careers to ol’ Shellhead and his armor. Here are some of the major baddies whose villainous paths originate with Iron Man — making them prime source material for this weekend's film and future chapters of the Marvel movie universe.
Oh, and before anyone complains, Obadiah Stane (a.k.a. Iron Monger) isn't on the list because he was an active villain long before he donned his own suit of armor.
Blizzard: Gregor Shapanka was a Hungarian scientist specializing in cryonics. After joining Stark Industries, he tried to steal some special Stark tech and was caught.

Highlights over the last two weeks for the Big Blu definitely start with Darren Aronofsky’s “The Wrestler” which has resurrected Mickey Rourke’s career after his fine performance earned him an Oscar Nomination. “Terminator 2″ receives the kind of Blu-ray treatment that it has always deserved with the SkyNet edition that includes three different cuts of the film, a ton of special features, and a digital picture transfer that should set the template for the quality process of a conventionally shot footage. “Terminator 3″ which was the last Arnold Schwarzenegger-centric Terminator film was also released, although it didn’t receive anything near the grand treatment of it’s predecessor.
