Despite Breaking Bad ending years ago, Bryan Cranston, has been becoming a prominent performer in the years since, even earning an Oscar nomination. He’s now back with Wakefield, which premiered at Toronto and Telluride Film Festivals last fall. Based on the short story by E.L. Doctorow of the same name, it focuses on Wakefield as he abandons his current family behind and remains in his garage attic, leaving them skeptical of his strange disappearance. Also starring Jennifer Gardner as Howard Wakefield’s wife, and directed by Robin Swicord, the first trailer has arrived,
“Wakefield would not be as fascinating if its central performance wasn’t as fully fleshed out as Cranston makes it,” we said in our review. “In the best performance of his career on the silver screen, it’s made even more impressive by the fact that he is mostly alone for the majority of the film,...

Five pints (all between 5% and 7% Abv). One tequila-heavy Margarita. An entire flask of Tito’s Vodka. These are the things I consumed before/during Nine Lives, and I’m still not remotely drunk enough* to comprehend the made-for-Disney mindlessness that is Barry Sonnenfeld’s latest cat-tastrophy.
“But Matt, how can you deny the fuzzy-wuzzy charms of a Lil’ Bub cameo, coupled with Kevin Spacey’s aggravated voice acting!?” Well, it’s pretty G-d damn easy when you’re talking about a body-switch comedy sans any sort of ambitious humor, performance charisma or inherent weirdness. And what the f$&@ is a Lil’ Bub and why should I care? Congratulations to all the cast members who made an epic paycheck on this kitty-litter-stenched cat-nap, and if a hunking payday wasn’t motivation, then I hope any agents responsible are fired immediately. Forever barred from working in Hollywood, even with the desperation of Nic Cage.

Disney’s live-action comedy Alexander And The Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, based on the popular kid’s book by Judith Viorst, got little love when it opened theatrically in October. When Melissa Howland reviewed it here at We Are Movie Geeks, she called it “….a boring, cluttered mess.” (read all of Melissa’s review Here)
Watching Alexander And The Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day on Disney’s new Blu-ray in the less-demanding confines of home, I found it not at all a terrible, horrible, very bad experience. In fact, it was a bit funnier than I expected. 11-year-old Alexander Cooper (Ed Oxenbould) and his family (dad Steve Carell, mom Jennifer Gardner) are put in silly, sitcom-style scenarios, and the PG-style calamities are harmless fun. There are sight gags, pop cultural references, and gross-outs aplenty, but they’re done with a hint of restraint and even some wit.

It’s going to be an exciting year of TV watching for Marvel fans. As fans know, four superhero series are due to premiere on Netflix in 2015, followed by a Defenders mini-series. These offerings are intended to tie into the broader Marvel Universe seen in cinemas. Remember, “It’s all connected.”
First up will be Daredevil, due to air in May. Fans have already heard the casting for the Daredevil series: Charlie Cox is Matt Murdock/Daredevil, Scott Glenn is Stick (Murdock’s martial arts mentor), Deborah Ann Woll is Karen Page, Elden Henson is Foggy Nelson, Vondie Curtis-Hall is Ben Ulrich, and Vincent D’Onofrio is the Kingpin (Wilson Fisk). From these details alone, Marvel fans can infer a great deal. For a start, a season-long arc involving the Kingpin is probable, since his character is unlikely to be in a single episode. Additionally, a romance between Murdock...

Though it's taken from the source book, we’ll be interested to see how many cinemas complain about the sheer length of this title even in this digital day and age. But here in any case is the first trailer for (deep breath) Alexander And The Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. Those who are seriously spoiler averse should be wary because we suspect this takes footage from the entire film. The family comedy stars Steve Carell, Jennifer Gardner, Kerris Dorsey, Dylan Minette and Ed Oxenbould as members of a family who thought they were about to have the best day ever. Everything seemed to be going right for them, except for poor Alexander (Oxenbould), who never seems to be able to catch a break. No one wants to hear his complaints about bad luck, until they all end up going through their own terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day.

Ben Affleck, who some of you may recall playing in the World Series of Poker with actor and friend Matt Damon, was allegedly caught via security camera counting cards at the Hard Rock Casino in Las Vegas. The security team supposidly told Affleck, "You're too good at this game", and identified him as an advantaged player. The Casino was said to be friendly with Affleck and wife, Jennifer Gardner, who were invited to return to play other games in the Hard Rock Casino. Looks like Black Jack isn't in the cards for Affleck, who will begin filming for the highly anticipated Batman Vs Superman in Detroit later this month. ...

There are very few reviews out there for Dallas Buyers Club that don’t make mention of its stars’ Oscar chances. The movie is a real showcase for Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto‘s two larger than life performances, to the point where the Academy could use virtually all of their scenes for their nomination clip. Our Kate Erbland described their performances as the best from Tiff, saying that “Dallas Buyers Club lives and dies on the strength of its two lead performances, and it’s a solid pairing of both good luck and pure talent that McConaughey and Leto bring their absolute best to a film that requires nothing less.” It also lives or dies on director Jean-Marc Vallée. The filmmaker behind C.R.A.Z.Y. knows how to capture those quality performances on an exceptionally tight deadline. Speaking with Vallée, he expressed appreciation for his two leading men, while also delving into how exactly he shot McConaughey, Leto...

Everyone has their favorite Disney film. Actually, honesty is always the best policy, and pegging little deeper into the opinions of movie fans that hold the famed studio in high regard should reveal that most people have multiple favorites because s many if them are terrific and etched in the memories of film buffs. The Lion King, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Dumbo, The Little Mermaid. Those are but some of the many, many titles pronounced when the topic of favorite Disney films comes up. The common denominator is that they are all of the animated variety. Who cites their favorite as Tron, Prince of Persia, Escape from Witch Mountain or The Rocketeer? It seems as though Disney’s live action movies are doomed To be second rate when...

It's the big 4-0! Wishing you a very happy birthday, Jen! Jennifer Gardner, we first want to congratulate you becoming a mom for the third time this year. We hope Ben Affleck and your three beautiful children have something special planned for your birthday celebration. As sweet as she is strong in every sense of the word,Jennifer Garner has become a true Aries goddess in her 30s. Rams often are unusually athletic, and the former Alias star is known for flaunting her terrific physicality in all her roles. But it wasn't until the last decade that the Arthur star started to reveal the mischievously comic streak possessed by many born this week; perhaps her marriage to wisecracking actor/director Ben Affleck, with whom she has daughters Violet, 5, and Seraphina, 2, has helped her find that funny bone. Sometimes hitting the multiplex just isn’t in the cards. That’s when cable, the web and streaming step in to provide an instant movie fix. But how to separate the wheat from the chaff? I’m happy to help; every week I’ll pick a flick and see if it’s worth your time. This week it’s the 2011 remake of “Arthur”.
The Story: Okay, so there’s this crazy-rich wealthy dude who hasn’t grown up even though he’s in his 30’s. He’s got a hella drinking problem that causes his family no end of concern. Solution? Marry the guy off to a straightlaced gal, and tell him if he doesn’t go for it he’s cut off. But then he meets the fantastic girl…and it sure ain’t the one mummy picked. Sound familiar? Of course it is; this is the remake of...

If you’ve seen the original Arthur, there’s not much (if any) point in seeing this remake. Unless, of course, you’re a diehard Russell Brand fan.
Perhaps the most complained about problem with Arthur, besides the fact that it’s starring Russell Brand, is the tagline “Meet the world’s only lovable billionaire.” A couple of valid points have been made by others and are worth repeating here: firstly – the fact that his mother threatens that Arthur will lose his inheritance of $950 million (note the M for Million), and secondly, even if he were a billionaire he’s certainly not the *only* lovable one – what about Bruce Wayne, or that woman that wrote that about a boy who finds out he’s a wizard?
Arthur (Brand) is a wealthy, unemployed alcoholic working his way through his trust fund feeling quite content that he won’t have to work a day in his life,...

If Hollywood has taught us anything lately it’s that being a single old lady—does not sell. In fact the whole concept of an elderly woman never being married and getting by just fine in life is something unheard of these days. The latest news unveiled from Disney is that unless you are Sean Connery, being old and single is undesirable.
To many, Miss Marple survives as a strong character in the Agatha Christie canon of murder mysteries. She is one of those neat old ladies that has enough time in her busy schedule of knitting to solve crimes. She’s 80-something, smart, cunning and wears cute little hats. But apparently to Disney—Miss Marple is now a sexy woman that bears an uncanny resemblance to Jennifer Garner.

Ticket Stubs Review by Austin Lugar
From a young age we were all taught that lying is wrong. In The Invention of Lying, Ricky Gervais and Matthew Robinson say that may not be true. Lying takes place in an alternate reality where everyone in the world speaks only the brutally honest truth, except for Gervais’s character, Mark Bellison, who has discovered the ability to lie. These conditions make reality unbearable to live in. Visually, this place does not appear to be dystopian, but it’s the way everyone treats each other. Without social boundaries, everyone expresses their envy, hate, and ambivalence to each other the second they feel it.
So why would you lie about anything at all? (First the window, then it’s through the wall!) The film suggests several options about why people lie and when they should. Initially Mark believes he can shape the world to...

It's most definitely trailer day here at HeyUGuys and here's another one directed by Garry Marshall with an A-List cast that includes Jessica Alba, Jessica Biel, Taylor Lautner, Bradley Cooper, Eric Dane, Patrick Dempsey, Jennifer Gardner, Ashton Kutcher, Jamie Foxx and Julia Roberts in a movie called Valentine's Day. It tells the story about the lives of ten people who live in Los Angeles and how their lives intersect on Valentine's Day. Sounds a bit like Crash only a romantic comedy!
It's scheduled for release in the UK 12th February 2010 just in time for the big day! I've placed the trailer after the jump or you can head over to Yahoo to view in HD.....

Dark Reign: Elektra #5 – Marvel – $3.99
Score: 7.5
“If I had wronged them, I would simply kill them all.” That quote pretty much sums up what is so cool about Elektra. If only the makers of the Jennifer Gardner movie had figured that out. Dark Reign: Elektra #5 concludes the series as Elektra, having been returned from her Skrull and subsequent Norman Osborn imprisonment, tries to find out just who has put a price on her head. After having been attacked by agent Nico and Bullseye, Elektra is by Wolverine (the good one, not the Dark Avengers one). Wolverine takes Elektra somewhere safe and lets her know the whereabouts of where he tracked Nico to.
