- He credits Sammy Davis Jr. for saving his life because only 12-years old when in the Sammy's dressing room, Sammy asked important questions about the life of Hank and where he was heading. While only 12, Hank had already been carrying a 25-caliber gun for several years. The more Sammy mentored Hank on life, "the heavier that gun felt in his pocket." Many years later, Hank was performing as an opening comedic act with Tony Bennett, and other "Rat Pack" members. Sammy walked over to say he recognized Hank. He replied, "I am the guy you warned that I would be in prison or dead if I did not change my life." Hank told him that he had lived up to the sound advice to change his ways and he was involved in entertainment now. The two of them hugged and cried at that moment.
- He got to spar with Elvis Presley in the Sands Hotel at Elvis' request. Elvis asked Hank not to hit him in the face because Elvis had to do a performance later that night. Hank asked Elvis not to him in the face too because Hank had a performance later that night too. Elvis replied, "It would be an improvement if I hit you..." The two had a wonderful spar with one another. They both had great admiration for one another.
- Due to his wrestling background, he was requested to be a bodyguard for a famous actress without knowing the name until that actress got into the car. It was none other than Audrey Hepburn and when she got into the car, she said, "Hello Hank." He was honored she knew his name and had requested his help that night.
- Hank visits Veterans Administration hospitals to visit and share his admiration for their military service. He has dedicated himself to paying his respects to disabled American Veterans. During the Vietnam War, Hank paid for his own trips over to Vietnam to participate with USO shows because he was grateful for their service.
- As a young man, Hank had a major car accident. A family member kept visiting him in the hospital and provided him with vitamins. Eventually, the family member got in trouble because the hospital staff felt the family member was practicing medicine without a license. Finally, the family member had to sneak in the vitamins in the bottom of boxes of chocolate. The hospital staff had no problem with Hank eating candy, but they did not want him consuming vitamins. The vitamins were hidden in a secret compartment or layer underneath the candy.
