The Iron Claw is hitting theaters and tells the tragic story of the Von Erich family, who dominated the wrestling world for two decades. We learn about the triumphs and the tragedy of one of the most significant families in professional wrestling. They are not the only interesting characters in the often time wacky world of tights and arm bars. A lot of wrestlers led exciting lives outside of the ring. Their stories are just ready for the big screen treatment. Wrestler biopics could be an interesting subgenre we didn’t know we needed.
Gorgeous George
The name Gorgeous George is known by hardcore wrestling fans, but many casual fans may have no idea how big of an impact he had on the wrestling industry and pop culture in general. He wrestled for 30 years, from the 30s into the 60s. George is perhaps known as one of the greatest heel performers of all time.

They call him ‘Machete‘ and sometimes they call him Danny Trejo. If you are a fan of the definitely-Mexi-can then you’ll be cheering he’s got his very own actionfest starring an eclectic cast including the likes of Robert De Niro, Steven Seagal, Don Johnson, Lindsay Lohan, Michelle Rodriguez and Jessica Alba.
At the Us box office it was a battle of the assassins on 3rd September, when Machete opened against The American. Gorgeous George won that round but perhaps Trejo’s UK fans won’t let him down. Interestingly, it’ll be a case of Round 2 when both films open in the UK – at the same time!
Anyway, check out this brand new trailer sent to us by Way To Blue UK. We will be reviewing the film next week, so come back for our thoughts on this grindhouse actioner.
Also, why we’ve got your ear, there...

The IMDb250. A list of the top 250 films as ranked by the users of the biggest internet movie site on the web. It is based upon the ratings provided by the users of the Internet Movie Database, which number into the millions. As such, it’s a perfect representation of the opinions of the movie masses, and arguably the most comprehensive ranking system on the Internet.
It’s because of this that we at HeyUGuys (and in this case we is myself and Gary) have decided to set ourselves a project. To watch and review all 250 movies on the list. We’ve frozen the list as of January 1st of this year. It’s not as simple as it sounds, we are watching them all in one year, 125 each.
This is our 27th update, my next five films watched for the project. You can find last week’s update here.

The second teaser trailer for George Clooney’s Italy-set action thriller, The American, has been released recycling footage from the first trailer but changing its tone a bit. Did the production company not want to give the wrong impression about their movie? It’s not some dull, movie-star travelogue or existential art-house fare – it’s an action thriller with Gorgeous George!
The American has been directed by photographer and music video director Anton Corbijn who made his debut with Control, so let’s hope it’s more than a good-looking film and not Clooney sat around sipping Nespresso and having it off with hot women in picture-postcard Italia.
Synopsis:
When an assignment goes wrong and a lover ends up dead, he vows that the next job will be his last. This final obligation takes him to a picturesque town nestled amongst lush Italian hills, its historical piazzas bursting with life.

I attended WrestleMania Xxvi this year, primarily because I got a free ticket, but also because there are few spectacles quite like it. Vince McMahon, say what you will, is an absolute marketing genius, having transformed a fake sport into nothing but entertainment, taking his brand global, building it into a billion-dollar product, and regularly ranking among the top two or three shows on cable television.
Vince got into the movie business several years ago, and while it hasn't been wildly successful, WWE Studios is making nine movies in two years right now, none of them costing over $10 million, all of them pairing his in-ring stars with an increasingly legitimate selection of actors (like Randy Orton teaming with Ed Harris). And now, for the first time, McMahon is making a movie about a wrestler.

Of Nerdists and Muppets, Broadway is booming, Carol Burnett is a goddess, plus Ken Paves shows why men don't wax (we're wimps).
Next month Reichen Lehmkuhl takes the stage in My Big Gay Italian Wedding, and we’ve just learned that a portion of every ticket sold will be going to Broadway Impact for marriage equality. Plus, Reichen isn’t terrible to look at.
TruTV has announced a development slate, and a few caught my eye. Rogue Society is a hidden camera show dedicated to exposing bigots, jerks and scammers through pranks. The Naked Office is a therapy show, but fairly literal to the title, and Exposed is from Ashton Kutcher, and involves public nudity as a social experiment.
We all know my disdain for the board game movies (except Candyland), so you’ll forgive my cynicism about Ridley Scott saying that Monopoly will be all about greed. All you...

Exclusive: In an age where books routinely get tiny movie options and languish in development, one could do worse than make a deal with wrestling mogul Vince McMahon's WWE Studios. In a mid-6 figure outright buy, WWE acquired the 2008 John Capouya book Gorgeous George: The Outrageous Bad-Boy Wrestler Who Created American Popular Culture. Not only was the deal brokered by Justin Manask generous for the author, but WWE Films has committed to a 2011 start date for a film about a journeyman wrestler who remade himself into a preening, vamping villain and became a national TV star at a [...]...

After shooting to prominence in the last few months for starring opposite Gorgeous George in Up In The Air, the delectable Vera Farmiga is now looking to star in indie Western A Thousand Guns.

Colin Farrell earned a shout-out from Best Actor Jeff Bridges for his role in "Crazy Heart," Sunday night at the Oscars. Unfortunately, Farrell had already left the stage after his role in paying tribute to the Oscar nominees for Best Actor. However, Farrell had already held his own while surrounded by a bevy of beauties. Michelle Pfeiffer, Vera Farmiga and Julianne Moore paid tribute to their Oscar-nominated leading men in the movies (Jeff Bridges, George Clooney and Colin Firth). "He's just so dreamy," said Vera, quoting her mother talking about Gorgeous George (and me too Mrs Farmiga!) And finally George smiled! And then there was Colin: He paid tribute to "Hurt Locker" nominee Jeremy Renner in their film "Swat" and his first crack was about "that trip to Mexico." "Which I wish I remembered more of! We shared a bed," laughed Farrell, "and a pillow! And before any rumors start,...

What's up with grumpy George Clooney?Gorgeous George was all smiles on the red carpet joking that his stunning red-dress wearing girlfriend Elisabetta Canalis would fight for him against any interlopers but once he got into the Kodak Theater he turned into Mr Grumpy.Hosts Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin poked fun at Meryl Streep (can you believe she's been nomimated 16 times?) and Helen Mirren (that'll be Dame to you Damn Yanks!) but they visibly froze when they turned to lampoon Grumpy Clooney.George fixed them with a gimlet eye and that was the end of that. The hosts back-pedaled but whenever the camera went back to Clooney he was still glowering away like someone had just burnt his house down.Wtf George?Photo gallery / George Clooney in a better mood / Click here ...
