He was the first composer to write music for a British film when he was
paid 50 guineas (£52.50) for 16 bars of music to accompany the
Coronation scene in Henry VIII (1911)
He was awarded Knight Bachelor of the Order of the British Empire in the 1928 King's Honours List for his services to music.
