As Robert Powell Jesus of Nazareth, The Detectives opens a UK wide tour of the official Agatha Christie Theatre Company's 9th production, Black Coffee in Windsor photographed Robert as Poirot alongside co-stars Liza Goddard as Miss Caroline Amory and Robin McCallum as Poirot's friend and confidante Captain Arthur Hastings, OBE. The cast appeared in full costume both outside - underneath the building's iconic blue plaque - and upstairs in the quaint writing room she had specially commissioned as part of the house's refurbishment. Alexandra Bastedo has passed away at the age of 67.
The actress, who was best known for her role in 1968 sci-fi series The Champions, lost her battle with cancer on Sunday (January 12), theatre director and close friend Roger Redfarn confirmed.
Hove-born Bastedo was discovered by Columbia Pictures at the age of 16 and sent to Hollywood to make horror film 13 Frightened Girls.
She later landed the role of Sharron Macready in The Champions, which ran for 30 episodes on ITV between 1968 and '69.
The show, which also starred Stuart Damon and William Gaunt, centred around three agents for a United Nations law enforcement organisation who gain superpowers after a plane crash.

Bastedo's other TV credits include an episode of Absolutely Fabulous in 1992 and EastEnders, in which she played Cynthia Marshall between 2008 and 2009. She also appeared in 1967 movie Casino Royale and 1995's Batman Begins.

For an actor who worked with two of the greatest movie directors of the last century and appeared in the world premieres of plays by Brian Friel, Ireland's leading contemporary dramatist, Donal Donnelly, who has died after a long illness, aged 78, was curiously unrecognised. Like so many prominent Irish actors in the diasporas of Hollywood, British television, the West End and Broadway – all areas he conquered – Donnelly was a great talent and a private citizen, happily married for many years, and always seemed youthful.
There was something mischievous, something larkish, about him, too. He twinkled. And he had a big nose. He had long lived in New York, although he died in Chicago, and had started out in Dublin, although born in England.
