Downton Abbey has definitely hit on a formula after five hugely successful series, and that's why we love it.
Whether it's upstairs or downstairs, awkward chats or dastardly schemes, you can always predict a few things will occur each week. Here's your final series checklist to look out for:
1. Maggie Smith unleashes a killer putdown
Tumblr
2. Thomas plots about something in secret
Tumblr/Maricela Gonzalez
3. Everyone has an awkward dinner
The Loop
4. Edith has a miserable time
Tumblr
5. Mary rolls her eyes (normally at Edith)
Tumblr/Kayla Gerken
6. Bates calmly deals with Anna's latest horror situation
Tumblr/Here We Stand
7. Daisy mouths off and then instantly regrets it
Tumblr
8. Violet squares off against Isobel about something or another
Tumblr
9. Moseley provides some accidental comic relief
Tumblr
10. Cora will give a cheeky wry smile
Tumblr
11. Robert gets upset by either the newspaper or some post

What’s worthy of PopWatching this week? The first week of December means holiday programming is in full cheery swing with an SNL special, a Cma caroling fest, and a Sound of Music live reboot. But it’s still early, so don’t let the Christmas fever get out of hand. Casey Affleck fights to the bone in Out of the Furnace, in theaters this Friday. And you’ve got zombies to deal with in the mid-season finale of The Walking Dead tonight.
All times listed are Eastern.

Concerned about shortening attention spans? Take heart! The highest-rated show on television is also one of the slowest shows in recent TV history. The first five episodes of The Walking Dead’s fifth season constituted a miniseries about a plague; the most recent two episodes are a mini-miniseries, The Ballad of the Governor. Neither of them had enough plot to fill half of your average episode of Scandal. The overall sense of stasis is heightened by the fact that — as EW’s Walking Dead recapper Maricela Gonzalez pointed out on Monday — tomorrow night’s midseason finale looks suspiciously similar to the third season finale.

Tonight you’ll find me at my local movie theater for the midnight showing of Catching Fire. Well, not technically midnight. My movie starts at 11:15 p.m. because, apparently, the art of the midnight showing is changing into the art of the one-day-early showing, but that’s beside the point. I still expect a theater experience at least midnight showing-adjacent, which means a packed house, people in costume, and at least one memorable crowd reaction, all of which got me thinking about my first actual midnight movie.
Surprisingly for a movie addict, I didn’t attend a midnight showing...

Another fall, another TV season… another year of people telling me that I just have to start watching New Girl.
“It’s gotten so much better since the pilot!” they’ll say. “Everyone is funny now, not just Schmidt — and it handles the will they/won’t they romance better than any other sitcom — and Zooey Deschanel’s wardrobe is adorable!”
All that may be true. But every time I give New Girl another chance — and at this point, I’ve watched at least three or four episodes — I’m left totally cold by it.
Objectively, I should love this show: It’s a fast-paced,...

Between Nsync reuniting (however briefly) and the One Direction documentary hitting theaters this weekend, EW’s PopWatch is getting a serious wave of nostalgia—and the urge to revive one of the most important debates: What is the all-time greatest boy band?
Any good fan girl (or guy!) knows this debate is about so much more than just the hits; there’s things like group appearance, harmonies, music videos and dance moves to consider. While an EW writer will be advocating for each, the final decision is up to you. Each day a band wins the vote, they’ll receive a point.

"Teen Wolf" fans slipping into withdrawal, now that the hit show has aired its mid-season finale, got another chance to check out Tyler Posey on "The Exes." Even better for many fans, they got another chance to check out his abs.
Posey portrayed Eric, a law student that Holly offered to tutor. But things took an unexpected turn after Eric spilled coffee on himself. Holly ran to grab a towel, but returned to find that Eric had found his own solution to the wet shirt problem. He simply took his shirt off.
Holly was flabbergasted by the sight. Eric calmly walked up to her and took her glasses off. "What do you think?” he asked her.
“I think you get an 'A' in abs," Holly responded before the two started making out. Things were going great, until Holly met Eric's mom and discovered that she and Eric's mom looked and sounded almost exactly alike.

Last night, Lifetime premiered its destined to be Peabody-, Emmy-, Golden Globe-, and (why not?) Nobel Prize-winning film Anna Nicole. A prestigious (and I must add, courageous) group of EW staffers convened at my apartment to see whether the biopic could give Citizen Kane a run for its money. Read on for a sampling of our reactions to Anna Nicole.
