Gordon was credited as the first woman to be seen on colour television sets,[3][4] as she took part in John Logie Baird's world's first colour transmission on 3 July 1928.
Added hair-dye to make her darker brown hair, a more reddish colour for
all of her years in Crossroads. The hair colour showed up more on
camera too, apparently.
In 1974 she became the first woman to ever host the Royal Variety Performance.
