Saban Films has revealed an official trailer for Dusk for a Hitman, a Quebecois crime thriller arriving in the US to watch on VOD starting in April. This already premiered and originally opened in Canada last year obviously. Set in the late 1970s, the most feared hitman in the Montreal underworld, Donald Lavoie, found himself hunted down by his former accomplices and by a tenacious police officer. Donald finds himself caught in a tightening vise in this film based loosely on a true story. The Montreal crime thriller stars Éric Bruneau as Donald Lavoie, with Benoît Gouin, Rose-Marie Perreault, Sylvain Marcel, Simon Landry-Desy, and Joakim Robillard. We need to be honest that the vast majority of films that most people consume every year are either American mainstream blockbusters or studio distributed independent (Sundance) films. There are of course, every year, a few foreign films that do get released in the American market, The selected films that get a push from their government hoping to get that Foreign Language film Oscar nom or other films that manage to make some noise at Cannes might eventually get released in our great Na. But for every Incendies or 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 days, that are released to the rabid American market there are dozens of other films that never make it outside of their home market save in the occasional film festival. At last, the trailer of Patrick Demers' Jaloux is finally online. No release date has been announced, but the film is currently looking for foreign distributors at the American Film Market (Afm).

Production began yesterday for the TV series, Apparences, which will be aired on the French Canadian TV network Radio-Canada on January 2011, in Montreal.
This psychological thriller was written by award-winning writer Serge Boucher (Aveux) and will be directed by Francis Leclerc.

Yesterday, Montreal's Festival du nouveau cinéma (Fnc), which will take place from October 13 to 24, revealed its full line-up of films. Nineteen Canadian feature films and documentaries will be presented. However, don't expect to see all films that were screened at the latest Toronto or Vancouver International Film Festivals.

Yesterday, Les Films Séville, a film distributor, revealed on its Twitter page ([1] and [2]) that Tromper le silence, the third film directed by Julie Hivon (Crème glacée, chocolat et autres consolations), will be in Quebec's theatres on September 3, 2010.
