The first national tour of “Finding Neverland” is casting a young union actor to play two principal roles—and he is needed for immediate hire! Based on the story of the author who penned “Peter Pan,” the musical seeks a male actor, aged 8–10, to rotate between the roles of Michael and Jack. Michael is the youngest of the boys and is “the loudest and most confident,” while Jack is the second oldest and is “the naughtiest and most outlandish.” Rehearsals for the tour will begin immediately after hire, and the actor should be prepared to join the company in Buffalo, New York by Oct. 5. Auditions will be held by appointment on Oct. 3–4 in New York City. The musical, featuring music and lyrics by Gary Barlow and Eliot Kennedy and a book by James Graham, shuttered on Broadway this past August. For more information on “Finding Neverland,” you can see the full listing here.

No one’s written a book “Google, Facebook, and Apps for Dummies,” but there is a new play on the subject. James Graham’s “Privacy,” which opened Monday at the Public Theater, spoon-feeds us the ways in which information about our lives is collected and stored, in effect turning the Internet into a massive surveillance device. Watching “Privacy” is not unlike being on a cruise ship where the nightly entertainment alternates between mentalists and hypnotists. There’s lots of audience participation — some real, some faux. Occasionally, audience members join the action on stage, but for the most part, we get to stay in.

"Did you know you can win medals for maths?" Yes, over in the United Kingdom, the subject is called "maths," and that's exactly what Asa Butterfield (Ender's Game) does to help him connect to a world he doesn't quite understand as a high-functioning autistic boy in the drama X+Y. Though it does have some hints of cheesiness and melodrama, there's a great supporting cast here that includes Rafe Spall, Sally Hawkins and Eddie Marsan, seemingly elevating this to a genuinely inspirational story. It looks charming and and uplifting, and we hope it gets a release here in the United States next year. Watch below! Here's the new UK trailer for Morgan Matthews' X+Y from The Telegraph (via The Playlist): Watch the first trailer for Morgan Matthews' X+Y from the Tiff premiere right here. With the monitoring of e-mails and phone calls a hot topic of late, now seems like the perfect time for a new take on George Orwell’s classic novel 1984. Deadline reports that Sony Pictures is developing the film with Paul Greengrass slated to direct based on a script by Finding Neverland writer James Graham. Scott Rudin is producing, which is a reunion of sorts for Greengrass. Rudin and the filmmaker previously worked on the Tom Hanks film Captain Phillips. Orwell’s tale about a dystopian future where “Big Brother” is watching your every move has become more and more real thanks to increases in technology and our constant fear of terror attacks in the wake of 9/11. This could be the perfect time for a new version of the classic tale to hit the screen...

We certainly aren.t hurting for dystopian book-to-movie adaptations, especially with The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part I releasing this weekend. However, I can.t help but get ridiculously excited whenever more news is released about the upcoming film adaptation of 1984, which now has a director. The Hollywood Reporter just confirmed that Paul Greengrass, who recently directed The Bourne Ultimatum and will most likely helm the next Bourne film , will be directing 1984. Appropriately, it's been since 1984 that we.ve had a big screen adaptation of Orwell.s classic book. The .84 production of Nineteen Eighty-Four had John Hurt playing the lead of Winston Smith. While there aren.t any casting announcements for this new book-to-screen adaptation quite yet, the team working to bring the book back to the screen is shaping up to be an awesome one. The script will be written by James Graham (he wrote the book to the...

Deadline is reporting that The Bourne Supremacy and Captain Philips helmer Paul Greengrass is working on a new version of 1984 from a script by James Graham. 1984 has been adapted twice before from the 1949 novel, most famously by Michael Radnor thirty years ago. In addition to returning to the Jason Bourne franchise with Matt Damon at Universal, director Paul Greengrass is in the midst of setting up another project over at Sony Pictures. Deadline has word that Greengrass is attached to direct a new adaptation of George Orwell's classic novel 1984, a seminal piece of literature that takes place in a world where surveillance is unavoidable as a perpetual war rages on. The term Big Brother, used to reference government oversight and surveillance comes from this very novel, and in an age of drones, phone hacking, the Nsa's violation of privacy, it's more relevant than ever. The film is in the nascent stages as no actors are attached to the project yet, and James Graham (the man who wrote the musical adaptation of Finding Neverland), will adapt the book. Scott Rudin, who just teamed with Greengrass as producer on Captain Phillips, will produce the cautionary tale,...

George Orwell’s classic dystopian novel Nineteen Eighty-Four is once again getting a feature film adaptation. The project is set up at Sony Pictures, and they’ve hired director Paul Greengrass (Captain Phillips) to adapt it for the big screen.
The first film adaptation was released in 1956, but most people remember the version that starred John Hurt, which was released in the year 1984. That was a great movie, and I’m curious to see what Greengrass’ vision of this story will be.
The story is set in a world where, due to a constant war, state surveillance is everywhere. The novel introduced the term “Big Brother” to the world, and the themes of the book have caught up with us as it’s a reflection of the modern day controversy of drones, CCTV, phone hacking, and government infringement of privacy laws.

“Big Brother is Watching You," wrote George Orwell in his eternal novel "1984." If only the author had lived to see "Citizenfour." As the age of Nsa snooping comes into the light, Orwell’s dystopian novel remains as pertinent as ever (this month, an Egyptian college student was arrested while carrying a copy of the novel, a move many reporters saw as a moment of life-imitating-art). Sony Pictures agrees: The studio has setup a new adaptation of the film with the project-hoarding Paul Greengrass attached to direct. Scott Rudin and Gina Rosenblum will produce the project, Deadline reports. "1984" follows the lead character Winston Smith as he rebels against the hellish bureaucracy of Airstrip One. Overpowering its citizens with surveillance, manipulation, propaganda, and legal action — any independent thinking is consider a "thoughtcrime" — the dream-prone Winston slips away from the oppressive government to encounter romance and freedom, paying the price when Big Brother catches him in the act.

Once he's done with Jason Bourne 5, director Paul Greengrass looks like he'll be tackling George Orwell's 1984...
The last adaptation of George Orwell's 1984 saw John Hurt taking on the role of Winston Smith, with Michael Radford directing. Fittingly, that was released in 1984. Fast forward 30 years, and another take on the classic novel is coming, but this time with Paul Greengrass at the helm.
Greengrass, whose next project is set to be his return to the world of Jason Bourne (having previously helmed The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum), has been linked to the project by Deadline. Sony Pictures is funding the new 1984, and James Graham, who previously penned Finding Neverland, is currently on scripting duties.
Scott Rudin and Gina Rosenblum are attached as producers, The earliest we'd imagine the watchful eye of Big Brother could return to the screen would be 2017, assuming the next Bourne film takes priority for Greengrass.

George Orwell's dystopian classic novel "1984" is getting another big screen outing with "The Bourne Ultimatum" and "Captain Phillips" helmer Paul Greengrass attached to direct.
James Graham will pen the script for this new take on the material. No word on the nature of this adaptation - whether it will be period or a more contemporary version - but considering Greengrass' previous work you can expect a bunch of subtext about ubiquitous surveillance in modern society.
Scott Rudin and Gina Rosenblum are producing. The project is still in early development with Greengrass' re-teaming with Matt Damon on another Jason Bourne film which is expected to go first.

Living in the era of mass surveillance, CCTV, and more, some would argue we're already headed down the path to a grim, authoritarian future as outlined in George Orwell's "1984." Either way, there has been no better time for another cinematic take on the high school favorite book, and it looks like it's coming to the big screen. Deadline reports that Paul Greengrass is now attached to direct "1984," with James Graham to pen the script. If somehow you've managed to go through your adult life without the book ever having crossed your eyeballs, here's a synopsis: The story of Winston Smith presents the world in the year 1984, after a global atomic war, via his perception of life in Airstrip One (the former United Kingdom), a province of Oceania, one of the world's three superstates; his intellectual rebellion against the Party and illicit romance with Julia; and his consequent imprisonment, interrogation,...

Sony is looking to remake George Orwell’s classic dystopian novel 1984, and they’ve brought Paul Greengrass on board to direct. Joining the Captain Phillips helmer will be Scott Rudin on producing duties and Finding Neverland‘s James Graham penning the script.

Who thought we'd ever reach the day that we'd be watching The X Factor and wonder, 'Seriously, I'd love to hear what Louis Walsh thinks.'
The X Factor's club mascot has barely been seen in the first five episodes of the new series, reduced merely to giggling and guffawing on the sidelines at every Simon Cowell one-liner, as if the high-trousered one is the lovechild of Eric Morecambe and Tommy Cooper.
If Walsh has barely been noticable, Dermot O'Leary has been like a TV version of Where's Wally. There hasn't even been room for his famous bulge to spin its way onto the screen.
On the Live Shows, he may be more slick than scintillating, but he's not even had the chance to wheel out his usual monster hugs at the auditions this year. Poor old Derm's been reduced to a role shorter than James Arthur's record career.

There’s something impossibly charming about Morgan Matthews’ “ X+Y,” his debut as a fictional feature-length narrative director. Much like the film’s core message and encompassing theme, this charm doesn’t come with an equation that leads to an easy solution, which only amplifies our satisfaction that much more. We do know, however, where the charm doesn’t come from; James Graham’s screenplay, full of simplistic formulas designed to turn on the waterworks and dip the picture in sweet, sentimental, syrup until it begins to slightly shrivel up from all the glop. With the scales of sappiness too unbalanced, “X+Y” is prevented from entering the higher echelons of family dramas explored from a child’s perspective. It’s no “About A Boy” or “Hugo,” but it still manages to rise well above the likes of “Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close”and defy expectations. Math prodigy Nathan (Edward Baker-Close) is a special boy.

After four episodes of closed room auditions, it's time for the big boy stuff this weekend on The X Factor. The successful auditionees are heading to Wembley for arena auditions and the chance to show that they can work a stage and an audience like a proper little popstar*.
Ahead of Saturday night's show, here are 11 picture teasers for the weekend's first show.
(*Tm. Louis Walsh).
1. The Courtesans have an Addams Family vibe, but will this spooky duo cause an upset? They certainly have a fan in Louis Walsh.
2. Paul Akister returns and causes a bust-up with Simon and Louis. Let's hope that doesn't distract from his cover of 'Let's Get It On'.
3. Simon Cowell gets a treat as Mel B and Cheryl do some dirty dancing for him. Louis just watches and rolls his eyes.
4. Lou Bou is told that she has potential as a stripper by Simon Cowell.

You will remember Harry Melling as the obese and cruel Dudley Dursley in the Harry Potter films, but you may not recognise him today.
The 25-year-old actor has appeared in a number of iconic stage plays on both sides of the Atlantic, and is about to go on tour with a brand new production titled The Angry Brigade by James Graham.
Digital Spy caught up with Melling to see what he has been up to since waving goodbye to Dudley back in 2010.
Harry is the grandson of Doctor Who actor Patrick Troughton
"I come from quite an actor family so I definitely grew up watching theatre from a young age, and always knew there was something magical about that. And always knew that I wanted to be involved in that.

Channel 4 will create a one-off drama focusing on Nick Clegg's rise in British politics.
The project, which has the working title Coalition, will chart Clegg's journey in 2010 from "rank outsider" to "the man who would decide the fate of the country".
The events that led to the formation of the coalition government will be brought to the screen by writer James Graham.
"In May 2010, British politics was faced with a dilemma it hadn't had to face in peacetime for over 75 years," said Graham. "The public were asked 'who should govern', and they came back with the answer – 'we don't know'.
"Those historic, dramatic few days put personalities at the heart of politics - and the choices made, I believe, changed the face of British politics forever.
"What we try to capture in this drama is the tension, the high stakes, and the frequent farcical and absurd nature of...

Not that there’s anything wrong with that. Well, a few things, maybe.
It’s not at all hard to understand why Harvey Weinstein turned to Diane Paulus to overhaul Finding Neverland, the musical based on Miramax’s 2004 movie starring Johnny Depp as Peter Pan creator J.M Barrie. Paulus brings a broad catholicity of taste to her work as artistic director of the non-profit American Repertory Theatre, and that wide-ranging sensibility has led to her own souped-up, physically dazzling revivals of Hair and Pippin, both of which moved to Broadway.
When a 2012 tryout in Leicester, England under the leadership of Rob Ashford was met with yawns, Weinstein sent Finding Neverland back to the drawing board. In addition to hiring Paulus, he replaced Allan Knee (who wrote The Man Who Was Peter Pan, the basis for the film) with James Graham as book writer. U.K. pop-music specialists Gary Barlow...

What more has Courtney Love possibly got to share with us, and how will Steve McQueen fare at the Oscars? These are just a few of the topics that will set tongues wagging in the new year

Courtney Love's memoir
The question is not so much "what will be in Courtney Love's book?" as "what could possibly be in Courtney Love's book that she hasn't already spoken/ranted/raved about?" Still, her self-titled autobiography has been described as "too crazy not to be true" and should provide her definitive take on her time with Hole and her doomed relationship with Kurt Cobain. It will also, hopefully, spill previously unspilled beans on her relationships with Billy Corgan and Steve Coogan. Oh, and according to an interview she did with Rolling Stone, it was inspired by Russell Brand's My Booky Wook. The mind boggles. Tj

Nobody expected theatre relayed to cinemas would work – until National Theatre Live became a hit. Matt Trueman watches one show come together
Gunnar Cauthery is building up to his big moment. He's on stage at the National Theatre, playing a Conservative MP in a drama called This House. Despite hoping for a safe home-counties seat with haystacks and hillocks, his character has just been elected MP for the Worcestershire town of Redditch. "You can't find a haystack in Redditch," he bellows, "because of all the fucking needles!"
Ninety-five miles away, in Redditch, a huge cheer goes up at the local Vue cinema. In Sheffield, there's applause when another Tory MP snootily suggests Manchester "either needs a good clean or a good fire", while at the Covent Garden Odeon in London, the man next to me almost chokes on his noodles from laughing so hard. "I hope people cheered like a...
