The fight for a new America is coming in the first full trailer for Outlander season seven.
Set to a rendition of “Ave Maria,” the more than two-minute teaser dropped on Thursday and features Sam Heughan’s Jamie and Caitríona Balfe’s Claire as they navigate yet another war (now of the revolutionary kind) that threatens to tear them, their family and their love apart. “We will make it back here one day, won’t we?” Claire pleads with Jamie towards the top of the trailer.
Season seven of the hit Starz series will be based on Diana Gabaldon’s seventh book, An Echo in the Bone, as well as some source material from the sixth book, A Breath of Snow and Ashes, due to a truncated sixth season due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Starz has released the first trailer for “Outlander” Season 7, which will premiere June 16.
The new season, inspired in part by Diana Gabaldon’s “Outlander” book series, will waste no time getting into action, picking up on the harrowing events of the Season 6 finale where Jamie (Sam Heugan) and Young Ian (John Bell) were racing to rescue Claire (Caitriona Balfe) before she was tried and wrongfully convicted for the murder of Malva Christie (Jessica Reynolds).
In true “Outlander” fashion, nothing comes easy; the trailer depicts much hardship to come for the Frasers and those they love. The American Revolution is in full swing and the chaos that comes with an emerging nation means the land they once called home is changing. Will Jamie, Claire, Brianna (Sophie Skelton), Roger (Richard Rankin) and their loved ones be able to change with it is a key question this season.

Claire and Jamie’s epic romance has withstood almost everything under the sun, and the Revolutionary War is no exception.
Picking up from the contentious Season 6 finale, the seventh installment of “Outlander” kicks off with Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Young Ian (John Bell) racing against the clock to save Claire (Caitríona Balfe) before she is tried for the murder of Malva Christie, of which she was wrongly accused. Amid their own crisis, yet another obstacle stands in the family’s way: The American revolution.
As the treacherous conflict escalates, Jamie, Claire and the rest of their family must reckon with abandoning the roots they laid down as Jamie steps up for battle, separating himself and Claire once again.
“I’d hoped that Jamie would stay away from it, but maybe he’s supposed to be there, maybe he always was,” Claire says in the trailer, released Thursday by Starz.

“Outlander” is giving fans a little more time before they have to say goodbye — and giving subscribers more of a reason to sign up for a full year instead of just a few months. Season 7 of the time-travel romance will air in two parts, Starz said on Wednesday, with the first half airing this year and the second half waiting for 2024.
Season 7, as previously announced, consists of 16 episodes, the show’s highest order count since Season 1. Like Season 1, which aired in 2014 and 2015, Season 7 will be split into two eight-episode bunches — the “Droughtlander” is officially over on June 16. “Outlander” has already been renewed for a final Season 8, which will consist of 10 episodes and presumably air in 2025 or later.
It is currently unclear if the show, based on Diana Gabaldon’s series of historical-fantasy romance novels, will completely adapt the entire saga. Each season of “Outlander” thus far has adapted (roughly) one...

“Outlander” Season 7 will resume Claire (Caitríona Balfe) and Jamie’s (Sam Heughan) sprawling and globe-trotting love story in June on Starz, the network announced Thursday while also revealing the first images from the new season.
The penultimate season of the time-traveling drama will debut June 16 with the first eight episodes of its extended 16-episode season, with the second half of the two-part season set to premiere in 2024.
After previously announcing the drama would come to a close after Season 8, Starz has already renewed the series for an eighth and final season. “Outlander” fans are in no danger of letting go of the beloved characters, however, as the network has also greenlit a prequel series, titled “Outlander: Blood of My Blood,” which will follow Jamie Fraser’s parents.

The opening title sequence for Outlander Season 7 will be sung by Sinéad O’Connor, following a tradition each season of adapting the show’s theme song by drawing inspiration from upcoming storylines and locations. Season 7 is set to premiere this summer.
“We are honored to have Sinead O’Connor performing ‘The Skye Boat Song.’ Her rendition is, for me, a reminder of all that’s beautiful about Outlander. She is talented beyond measure. Hers is a voice of the ages — one which pierces heart and soul — and embodies the spirit of the show,” says Matthew B. Roberts, showrunner and executive producer of Outlander.

Outlander is coming to an end at Starz — but the saga of the Fraser family is not.

The news comes several months ahead of a planned summer premiere for season seven of the time-traveling historical romance, based on Diana Gabaldon’s series of novels. Put on your kilts and break out the bagpipes in mourning: “Outlander” is coming to an end. The hit Starz TV series has been renewed for an eighth and final season, the premium cable channel announced Thursday. The news comes ahead of Season 7 of the series, which will premiere in Summer 2023.
The news makes it unclear if the show, which is based Diana Gabaldon’s series of historical fantasy romance novels, will adapt the most recent installment, 2021’s “Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone.” Each season of “Outlander” has thus far roughly adapted one book in the series, with the upcoming seventh season set to cover 2009’s “An Echo in the Bone” and Season 8 presumably covering 2014’s “Written in My Own Heart’s Blood.” That said, Season 7 is set to have an extended 16-episode run, while Season 8 will consist of 10 episodes, so its possible that longer length can help cover all three books.

“Outlander” has been renewed for Season 8 at Starz, which will also be the show’s last. But that’s not the end of the road for Jamie Fraser’s story.
Starz has officially placed a greenlight order for “Outlander: Blood of My Blood,” a prequel series to the popular drama which has been on the premium cabler since 2014.
The eighth season of “Outlander” will consist of ten episodes, following an extended 16-episode Season 7, which is currently in production.
“For nearly a decade ‘Outlander’ has won the hearts of audiences worldwide and we’re pleased to bring Claire and Jamie’s epic love story to a proper conclusion,” said Kathryn Busby, president of original programming for Starz. “But before we close this chapter there is plenty of their passionate story to tell over the course of 26 new episodes and even more to explore of this dynamic world and its origin story.

Starz is leaving a little gift for Outlander watchers just before Christmas.
The premium cable outlet has released the first teaser for the show’s seventh season (watch it below) and announced the series will return in summer 2023 (an actual date will be announced later). A summer premiere will mean about 15 or 16 months between seasons, as season six ended its eight-episode run on May 1.
The coming season will take the sixth and seventh books in author Diana Gabaldon’s series of novels — A Breath of Snow and Ashes and An Echo in the Bone — as its source material. The shortening of season six due to the Covid-19 pandemic means there is still material from A Breath of Snow and Ashes for the show to explore.

Starz is expanding the Fraser family in “Outlander” Season 7 with the addition of Jamie Fraser’s son, William Ranson.
On Thursday, the cable network announced Canadian actor Charles Vandervaart will take on the role of Jamie’s (Sam Heughan) secret son, who was raised by Lord John Grey (David Berry). His mother is Geneva Dunsany, whose estate Jamie worked on as part of his continuing sentence following his role in the Scottish uprising. William does not know that Jamie is his father, though he did meet Jamie when he was a child.
Here’s how the grownup version of the William character will be introduced, per Starz: “William arrives in Wilmington full of patriotic zeal and enthusiasm to join the British Army and help put an end to the escalating tensions in the American Colonies. … On the surface, William Ransom is a courteous aristocrat but simmering under the surface is a Highlander’s fire.

Outlander showrunner Matthew B. Roberts will return to write and executive produce the prequel series. Also returning will be executive producers Ronald D. Moore and Maril Davis under their Tall Ship Productions. Sony Pictures Television will be the studio. Speculation about an Outlander prequel with Roberts at the helm started last summer when Deadline reached out to Starz about the project.
News of the prequel series comes ahead of Outlander’s Season 6 premiere on March 6, which picks up shortly after traumatizing events of season five. “It’s starting — a storm, the war. It’s almost here,” says Caitriona Balfe’s Claire in the teaser.
Claire and Jamie (Sam Heughan) will have to choose what is best for their family during this tumultuous time, while still dealing with the trauma of they endured during the previous season, such as Claire being raped by Lionel (Ned Dennehy).

Starz has set early 2022 for the long-awaited Season 6 premiere of Outlander. The announcement comes as production winds up this week on the sixth season of the fantasy period drama from executive producer Ronald D. Moore, based on Diana Gabaldon’s book series. Production had been delayed by the Covid-19 pandemic; the extended wait for the new season dubbed Droughtlander by many. Starz says the series will return in 2022 with a shortened eight-episode season including a 90-minute premiere episode. Production then will begin on an extended 16-episode Season 7, according to Starz. Both seasons initially were slated for 12 episodes, in line with the previous five seasons. Starz also released some new photos from Season 6 (see above and below).
“We are excited to get into the editing room to work on bringing the fans one step closer to reuniting with the family back on Fraser’s Ridge,” said Matthew B. Roberts, Outlander showrunner.

The Droughtlander is finally going to end — but not for a while. Production on “Outlander” Season 6 will wrap this week, but you won’t get to see it until “early 2022,” Starz said on Tuesday.
Sorry, that’s as specific as we’re getting right now in terms of timing. Whenever it happens, the eight-episode sixth season will kick off with a 90-minute premiere.
“Outlander” Season 6 sees a continuation of Claire and Jamie’s fight to protect those they love, as they navigate the trials and tribulations of life in colonial America, according to Starz. Establishing a home in the New World is by no means an easy task, particularly in the wild backcountry of North Carolina – and perhaps most significantly – during a period of dramatic political upheaval. The Frasers strive to maintain peace and flourish within a society which – as Claire knows all too well – is unwittingly marching towards Revolution.

Spoiler Alert: The story includes details about the season-finale episode of Outlander. You have been warned!
The season five finale of Starz Outlander ended on a high note, kind of. Tonight’s episode, which was titled Never My Love, was written by showrunner Matthew B. Roberts and Toni Graphia and directed by Jamie Payne.
The finale opens with Claire (Caitriona Balfe), who has been taken captive by Lionel Brown (Ned Dennehy) and his men after Lionel discovered that Claire was using the guise of Dr. Rawlings to publish articles with innovative medical tips for the people of the Ridge and accuses Claire of “spreading dangerous ideas.” Claire tries desperately to escape but is tied up and beaten by Lionel’s men.
While in captivity, Claire meets another time-traveler named Wendigo Donner and promises to get him back to his time if he can save her. Unfortunately, Wendigo only provides little...
