Salma Hayek gets a lot of attention for her stunning looks, but her oeuvre proves she's a versatile and formidable actress. From action to drama to comedy, Hayek takes on every role with consummate aplomb. Her talent has garnered Oscar, Golden Globe, and Emmy award nominations.
Hayek started her acting career in the novela "Un Nuevo Amanecer" in the late-1980s. She then appeared in television shows, including "Teresa," "Street Justice," and "Dream On." She made her big screen debut with 1993's "Mi Vida Loca," portraying Gata -- a small yet memorable role. Her feature film debut led to bigger and bigger parts, leading her to become one of the most sought-after actresses in Hollywood. While the 1990s saw her cultivate a reputation as a sex symbol, she's since lent her impressive acting chops to a wide range of films, such as experimental indie flicks, superhero blockbusters, and everything in between.

Amazon Prime Video has scored what it described as a “historic” deal to stream Ligue 1 soccer in France, meaning it will be the destination to watch teams including Paris Saint-Germain and Lille.
The Jeff Bezos-owned streamer will show 302 live Ligue 1 matches a season, which equates to eight games a week, or 80% of the available games. Amazon will also have 10 top pick matches for the season, 66 second and third picks, and a Sunday highlights show.
The pact with the Ligue de Football Professionnel kicks off in August and will run for three years, building on Amazon’s existing sports rights including the English Premier League in the UK. The deal is reportedly worth €250M ($302M) a year.
Amazon’s entry into the market has ruffled feathers. Canal+ has also secured Ligue 1 rights, but said it is not prepared to share the soccer league with Amazon. “Canal+ will not, therefore,...

The English Premier League has announced that it has agreed in principle to roll over its £5 billion ($7B) deal with Sky, Amazon, and BT Sport for UK rights to the prestigious soccer competition.
The deal, which has been endorsed by the UK government to ward off an antitrust investigation, means that Sky, Amazon, and BT Sport will continue to broadcast the Premier League live until 2025. The BBC will also continue to show non-live highlights on Match Of The Day.
Rolling over the contracts means that the rights have not been put up for auction, preventing new entrants from bidding. There were reports that Dazn, the streamer run by former Disney executive Kevin Mayer, was interested in bidding after it recently beat Sky to Serie A rights in Italy.
There were concerns that an auction would have resulted in a deal valued at less than the £5B achieved in 2018, which would...

Amazon has netted the rights to show four live English Premier League games in the UK when the season returns this month — and has committed to making all of the fixtures free to view.
There are still 92 games left to be played of 2019/20 season after it was derailed by coronavirus in March. All of these matches will be televised in Britain across Sky, BT Sport, the BBC, and Amazon. In the U.S., games are shown across NBC, CNBC and Nbcsn.
Amazon launched its Premier League offering in the UK last year, broadcasting two rounds of fixtures over the Christmas period. It will now show four more games — and you don’t need to be a Prime subscriber to view them.

Entertainment One chief Darren Throop has stated that his company looking to be a “consolidator” rather than be consolidated.
Throop, speaking at the Royal Television Society London conference, said that “scale matters” when it comes to the next stage of growth in the entertainment business.
“Having that backdrop of support is very important.” But he added, “We have been fortunate enough to be a size and scale that we have a balance sheet that [allows us] to take the risks that we have to take as a company going forward. We’d rather be a consolidator than be consolidated.”
This comes eight months after the Peppa Pig owner and The Walking Dead distributor bought the remaining stake in Designated Survivor producer The Mark Gordon Company. In January, it paid $209M for the 49% of the company that it did not own, having paid $133M for a 51% in 2015.

Well, another NFL Draft is in the books. Just like every year, there were plenty of surprises to be had, and that’s exactly what makes the NFL Draft so exciting.
When the Miami Dolphins traded up to the #3 pick, how many of you were ready to see offensive tackle Lane Johnson hold up a Dolphins uniform? Hearing linebacker Dion Jordan’s name called by Roger Goodell was just one of many shockers from the first round (Ej Manuel being the first quarterback selected and defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd’s drop were also shocking), and the crowd at Radio City Music Hall made it all the more riveting. Even some big names such as linebacker Manti Te’o and quarterback Geno Smith fell to the second round of the draft, keeping everyone in suspense in the meantime. So, with the draft finally over, the question remains just like it does...

New and old venues served as stages for the events, including the famous iO Theater (Adsit), the Park West (Ross) and the new Laugh Factory (D’Elia). HollywoodChicago got a chance to talk with each of the comedians.

From television executives to exasperated grandfathers to silly school teachers, the TV Fanatic staff answers a very simply question in the following Round Table discussion: Who Is The Funniest Character On Television?
Read on for our responses and then sound off with your own...
Eric Hochberger: Like the man himself, this answer is simple: Ron Swanson.
Matt Richenthal: The answer is clearly Swanson, but I'll give it to Jack Donaghy just to be different. Referring to Liz Lemon's shoes as "bi-curious" on season one of 30 Rock was enough to earn him a permanent spot in the pantheon of hilarious TV character.
Carissa Pavlica: Eric Stonestreet as Cameron Tucker on Modern Family. And he's even funny on Twitter as a real life person. Bonus!
Chandel Charles: James Roday and Dule Hill as Shawn and Gus on Psych. You don't understand how funny they are as individuals until you see them together!
