This is the latest dispatch in a series from Jeff Goodell, who is investigating the effect of climate change on Thwaites glacier.

Although it didn’t feel like it, Avengers: Infinity War had us sitting in the theatre longer than any other Marvel Cinematic Universe movie. With an enervating two and a half hour runtime, though, and countless people to recognize, it was damn near impossible to catch each and every credit as they ascended the screen. Thankfully, then, an eagle-eyed Redditor has a screen grab from the nineteenth McU instalment that just might tickle your funny bone.
Courtesy of Reddit user stater35, it’s been revealed that Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Hemsworth each had their own personal chef during the production of Avengers: Infinity War – Tamie Cook and Carolynn Ladd, respectively.
Granted, this won’t exactly be a revelation for those who’ve perused the film’s IMDb page, but it should earn a mirthful chuckle from the uninitiated nevertheless. However, if you’re indeed in the mood for another bizarre tidbit,...

While some people are busy brainstorming who should play Peter Parker in Spider-Man 4, others are wondering what Tobey Maguire should do now that the film is off his IMDb page. (Actually, it isn't yet. Let's get on that!) The La Times ran through some of his options, noting that the big question is whether he should try to attach himself to another blockbuster/potential franchise or continue in a "more specialized direction" (meaning dramas like Brothers, which earned him a Golden Globe nomination but didn't score big at the box office or with critics). I think it needs to be a combination of both.

Hounsou Tackles Thulsa Doom: Djimon Hounsou has partnered with Dynamite Entertainment to star in and produce a bigscreen feature about immortal sorcerer Thulsa Doom, a central figure in the Conan the Barbarian and Kull comicbooks. Doom was portrayed by James Earl Jones in 1982's Conan the Barbarian. Planned pic will showcase the origins of the flawed hero and show how his road to hell was paved with good intentions. [Variety] Producers team for Papillon Redo: New Spanish production shingle Atlantia Canarias is teaming with L.A. producers Branko Lustig and John Kelly for a remake of the Steve McQueen and Dustin Hoffman starrer Papillon. Currently in the earliest stage of development, with no screenwriter or director attached, Papillon will shoot in English on a budget of about $90 million, Lustig said. As someone that thinks Papillon is the best McQueen movie (yup, better than Bullitt, Magnificent Seven, etc.) I think this is a Horrible idea.

Terrence Howard and Brad Silberling are in negotiations to star in and direct, respectively, The Crusaders, a drama for New Line Cinema. Bob Cooper is producing through Landscape Entertainment. Written by Lawrence O'Donnell and Paul Redford, Crusaders is the true story of Thurgood Marshall as seen through the eyes of Jack Greenberg, a dedicated young lawyer who became the only white member of the NAACP Legal Defense Fund and who fought side by side with Marshall in the courts to destroy segregation. If a deal is made, Howard would portray Marshall, who would later become the first black Supreme Court justice. When he worked for the NAACP, Marshall won 29 of the 32 cases he argued before the Supreme Court.

New Line Cinema is readying a feature film based on the life of Jack Greenberg, a young lawyer who became the only white member of the NAACP Legal Defense Fund and fought alongside Thurgood Marshall to end segregation. The untitled project is in early stages of development, as New Line has acquired a treatment based on Greenberg's book Crusaders in the Courts. No writer is yet attached to the project, but the treatment was developed by Michael Bogner and John Saroff, a pair of Columbia Law School students who are Greenberg's friends.
