Ever since her very public split from former soccer star Gerard Piqué, Shakira‘s love life has been in the spotlight.
There were rumors that she was romanticly involved with NBA star Jimmy Butler at one point and chatter that she may have been seeing A-lister Tom Cruise and later Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton when they were spotted out together.
Reports surfaced recently linking the “Hips Don’t Lie” singer to another famous man, actor Lucien Laviscount. This time, multiple outlets confirmed that they are casually dating after meeting on the set of her music video “Puntería.” Here’s more about the pair, including what their age difference is.

"Star Trek" was initially meant to be a portrait of a technological utopia set in a future when humanity had outgrown war, shed religion, and put money behind it. In the best of cases, the franchise revealed a world without want or starvation, having become so well-organized that resources could be freely shunted about the galaxy on miraculous faster-than-light starships. Most notably, starting with "Star Trek: The Next Generation," Federation vessels were equipped with magical food replicators, which rearranged energy into edible matter. One could walk up to a food slot on the wall -- everyone's personal quarters had one -- and order anything from a glass of water to a six-course meal. Famously, Captain Picard (Patrick Stewart) would order "Tea. Earl Grey. Hot."
Replicators are such a miraculous technology, that the writers of "Star Trek" had to begin inventing limitations merely for dramatic reasons. It's now been established repeatedly...

One of the central locations of the 2017 TV series "Star Trek: Picard" was the winery of the title character. The retired Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart), after a long career in Starfleet and a bitter extraction from the organization, moved into his ancestral family home and turned to wine-making as a hobby. In a fun marketing tie-in, Trekkies can buy bottles of Chateau Picard for themselves. Picard's home is, as fans of the character may have intuited, a low-tech locale, replete with old-fashioned paper books, wooden beams, breakfast nooks, and a lot of natural light. Picard, after all, was frequently seen thumbing through paper tomes, listening to centuries-old music, and drinking Earl Grey tea, a drink not invented until the 1830s. Throughout "Star Trek," Picard mentioned his ancestors, noting that Picards fought at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805. The man, however much he may dislike the fact, has a legacy. He did,...

If one were to broadly characterize each "Star Trek" show into a small handful of themes, one might say that the original "Star Trek" from 1966 is about bravery and balance. The characters are presented as bold — if not clumsy — frontiersman, frequently relying on their instincts and their brash confidence to escape difficult situations. Captain Kirk (William Shatner) often employs clever military tactics to outwit enemies. At the same time, he relies on the advice from his cold, emotionless first officer Spock (Leonard Nimoy) just as much as he relies on the passionate, angered responses of his very human medical officer Dr. McCoy (DeForest Kelley).
In contrast, "Star Trek: The Next Generation" is about the power of intellect, the importance of management skills, and the eternal solution of diplomacy. Captain Picard (Patrick Stewart) often asks for input from his entire senior staff, stands somewhat aloof, and celebrates ancient literature. Only occasionally...

Can your morning cup of Earl Grey help you have a better relationship with your friends and family? Eamon and Bec (a.k.a. Eamon Fitzgerald and Rebecca Maroney) are trying to answer that question with a resounding yes.
The Canadian creators, who reach 1.2 million subscribers on their joint YouTube channel, are the co-founders of a new beverage brand called Habit. Eamon and Bec are tea lovers themselves, but their take on the drink offers more than just fine ingredients and eco-friendly packaging. By including conversation prompts with each order, Habit encourages drinkers to share the feelings they’ve kept locked inside themselves.
Habit is the second tea company Eamon and Bec have founded together. About a decade ago, they worked together on Chaiwala Chai. As they lived together in a sprinter van, their priorities shifted. The #vanlilfe movement picked up steam, and Eamon and Bec became two of the top vloggers in that world.

Exclusive: That jibe Cate Blanchett made about awards shows being akin to a “horse race” “lost” her the Best Actress Oscar. So says Joey Berlin, CEO of the Critics Choice Awards.
None of us knows that for sure, but Berlin’s adamant.
Blanchett uttered a stream of vitriol during her acceptance speech when she collected the Critics Choice Award for Best Actress back in January for her performance in Focus Features’ Tár.
“I would love it if we would just change this whole f*cking structure,” she told the audience on January 15. “It’s like what is this patriarchal pyramid where someone stands up here. Why don’t we just say there was a whole raft of female performances that are in concert and in dialogue with one another?”

“Traumatic! Volcanic! Psychotic! Demonic! Hypnotic!” So runs the rhyme scheme in the title track of Metallica’s 11th studio album. Obviously, they’re not going for subtlety. They’ve annoyed fans before by attempting to tone it down on their past couple of releases so, as they edge into their sixties, the band return to the solidly compelling thrash metal with which they made their name. And honestly, when they’re on form, no band on the planet is better at writing and executing epic songs that head hugger-mugger for the horizon in a way that makes listeners feel as though they’re hugging the curves and swerving the spills of a Formula One racetrack. Songs don’t follow formulae; they just accelerate hard through the straights and snake wildly through the corners as they come. James Hetfield’s screaming hyperbole locking directly into the pounding rubber of Lars Ulrich’s relentless riff-making.

Keegan-Michael Key has joked that “Earl Grey tea and really tight pants” were the secret to his Toad impression in The Super Mario Bros Movie.
The comedian joins a voice cast including Chris Pratt, Charlie Day and Anya Taylor-Joy in the animated remake of the classic Nintendo game, with Key voicing the high-pitched mushroom Toad.
During an appearance on The Tonight Show on Tuesday (4 April), host Jimmy Fallon asked Key how he made his voice sound “totally different” as Toad.
The comedian explained that he’d initially tried to impersonate a friend who likes to emphasise the wrong words in sentences.
“I went to the director and I started doing that, and the director was like, ‘That’s cool. I like that. Can you get the voice a little bit higher?’” Key recalled, before making his voice slightly higher and saying: “Yeah, yeah, sure, I can get it a little bit higher.

Nic Cage, when asked if he would ever join the “Star Wars” franchise, emphatically responded: “I’m not in the ‘Star Wars’ family. I’m in the ‘Star Trek’ family.” This third and final season of the “Star Trek: Picard” is for the faithful, the sci-fi humanitarians who venture boldly from their couches, for folks like Cage.
The series once again rallies around Patrick Stewart’s Shakespearean now-retired Admiral Jean Luc Picard, reprising his role from “Star Trek: The Next Generation.” Loyal, egalitarian, lover of Earl Grey tea, and stuffed full of wisdom gleaned from his many travels on the U.S.S. Sir Patrick Stewart can claim a laundry list of awards and acclaim on his resume, and he rocks a turtle neck sweater like no other. The British actor is adored for many reasons. He's charming, confident, silly, elegant, and doesn't take himself too seriously (despite his knighted status.) Though he'd been working steadily in England, an unlikely role came his way in 1987 that changed everything, turning him into a household name in the U.S. and around the globe. That would be the Earl Grey-drinking, noir-loving, contemplative hero of the USS Enterprise, Captain Jean-Luc Picard from "Star Trek: The Next Generation."
Across seven seasons of "Tng," multiple feature films, and a recent spin-off, Stewart has continued to present Picard as an iconic Starfleet leader. From his initial interactions with the likes of Q (John de Lancie) to the vulnerability he displayed through Picard's more emotional post-Borg storylines, Stewart has...

Jean-Luc Picard is hardly a romantic.
If the Starfleet captain is not lecturing on the Prime Directive or arguing about questionable customs on other planets, he’s telling someone to beam down to a strange world or power up the warp drive. Even the way he requests his tea from the replicator sounds like a serious order. Who would know that someone who can be easily imagined giving orders in his sleep actually has the ability to feel—and is crushing on medical officer Beverly Crusher?
Picard and Crusher can go from approaching each other with the awkwardness of teens at prom to arguing like a couple married for ages. While they have been shipped countless times in fan fiction and were supposedly married and divorced in an alternate universe, what Trekkies were thirsting to see for seven seasons of Star Trek: the Next Generation kind of happened and kind of didn’t.

This post contains spoilers for the latest episode of "Star Trek: Lower Decks."
A bit of technical explanation is required. On "Star Trek," the engines on Federation starships function more or less like internal combustion engines. Instead of generating energy through the combustion of flammable petroleum products, however, they channel the overwhelming power created by a series of matter/antimatter explosions. Thanks to the miracle crystalline mineral dilithium -- which grows in a unique lattice-like molecular matrix -- the explosions can be transformed and stored. The energy is then used to generate warp fields which, true to their name, warp the very fabric of space, allowing ships to "skip past" traditional physics and travel over 1,000 times the speed of light.
The explosions are mixed and wrangled in an enormous warp core, often depicted on screen as a decks-tall glowing blue tube where the matter and the antimatter mix.

Pride is only one month, but queer film lives on all year. And as long as there are obstacles to funding, production, and distribution for queer films, shorts remain the easiest way for filmmakers to get noticed and get a foot in the door of the industry. That’s doubly and sometimes triply important when you’re a marginalized voice, especially if your work deals openly with themes of queerness, sexuality, race, and/or gender.
While the U.S. has fewer avenues for short films to gain attention than say Europe or Asia, there will always be cinephiles who enjoy the unique pleasures of a well-made short. The best short films don’t use the form as a mere stepping stone to a feature, but as a unique and valuable medium unto itself.

"Star Trek: The Next Generation" has inquired about the future of humanity and the nature of being, but the French Captain Jean-Luc Picard's English accent remains a point of confusion even after the man traversed space and time. The Captain has expressed his pride in and appreciation for French culture, reciting the "Frère Jacques" nursery rhyme, and muttering "merde" in times of distress. Despite this, he also loves Earl Grey tea and Shakespeare, so his cultural background isn't entirely Gallic.

The fans asked for it and Whoopi Goldberg has obliged.
Goldberg is returning to the Star Trek universe in season 2 of Paramount+’s Picard, reprising the role of Guinan in multiple episodes.
She played the El-Aurian bar hostess on Star Trek: The Next Generation from 1988 to 1993.
“I’m going to need some tea: Earl Grey, piping hot,” she says to an emotional Picard (Patrick Stewart) in the first trailer for the season premiering on March 3 above.
Stewart invited Goldberg to join him in the new series while visiting her ABC talk show The View in Jan. 2020 while promoting the Season 1 premiere.
“I’m here with a formal invitation,” said Stewart, “and it’s for you, Whoopi. Alex Kurtzman, who is the senior executive producer of Star Trek: Picard, and all his colleagues, of which I am one, want to invite you into the second season.”
Without a second thought, Goldberg said yes.

On Tuesday, Jan. 4, the Emily in Paris star, 32, visited The Late Late Show with James Corden and spilled some piping hot Earl Grey tea about visiting the British royal family as a child. Emily in Paris has a new hunk in town for season two, and his name is Lucien Laviscount. The British actor first broke into the acting scene in 2007 after landing a reoccurring role in the British soap series Grange Hill. Lucien's talents took him across the pond eight years later when he starred as a preppy bad boy in Ryan Murphy's highly successful thriller series Scream Queens. Fun fact: His character's name, Earl Grey, was a comedic homage to his hometown roots. Since then, he's added several more credits to his résumé including Katy Keene and Trust, a new steamy thriller starring Nina Dobrev. Now, Lucien is gearing up to win over fans' (and Emily's) hearts in season two of Netflix's over-the-top drama series Emily in Paris, where he'll be playing Alfie, a charming transplant from England and a competing love interest. Get acquainted with the actor ahead.

I know of Emily McGovern from her web-comic series, My Life as a Background Slytherin, a funny and witty series of short comic strips that parody Harry Potter in the nicest and most fan-friendly manner, that have become pretty damn popular. When I saw that she was releasing Bloodlust & Bonnets, a graphic novel set in nineteenth-century Britain that plays on the cliches of romantic literature from history, I was curious and excited to check it out.
We meet Lucy, a debutant who is in need of excitement and passion, romance and adventure, oh and she hunts down the fanged creatures of the night too, so she is hired by Lord Byron, an arrogant and self-indulgent man, a spot-on recreation of the male characters from those romance novels we all know and… erm… know. Joining them is Sham, a vampire-hunter who is a mysterious-type.

There hasn't been a sitcom finale in a long time viewed with as much anticipation as the double-sized whammy of The Big Bang Theory Season 12 Episode 23 and The Big Bang Theory Season 12 Episode 24.

This episode was clearly a love letter to the fans, no more apparent than in that kick-ass clips synopsis of twelve years that played at the very start, much like the McU films' iconic opening credits.
In a truly meta twist, the nail-biting anticipation for the finale was echoed in Sheldon, Amy, Leonard, and Penny awaiting the call from the Nobel Committee.

The image of Captain Picard facepalming in Star Trek: The Next Generation is a classic, and that image has now been brought to life in the form of a bronze bust statue.
The bust is 6-inches tall and it will fit right at home in a geeky office setup or study. It’s a perfect representation of the disappointment you might express during your days when life doesn’t live up to your standards.
The description reads:
"Disappointing Captain Jean-Luc Picard is one of the worst things you can do. Seriously. In order, it's: making a fool of yourself in front of Captain Picard, destroying the universe, and accidentally initiating the self-destruct sequence in your sleep. And since the dreaded Picard facepalm is such a big deal, we decided to “bronze it.” That way everyone can express their disappointment in us with bronzed Picards. Does it make the sting of embarrassment better or worse?...

Check out our rundown for this week’s selections below.
Cameraperson (Kirsten Johnson)
Kirsten Johnson brings us her memoirs by way of a videographic scrapbook. Bits and pieces of the numerous documentaries she’s shot in her years as a Dp have been woven together into a travelogue / ethnographic study / commentary on the nature of cinematic framing. What was an establishing shot in one doc becomes, here, a study of the vagaries of a camera operator’s job. Documentary...

On a recent Monday afternoon, the queen was taking her tea. "Could I just be more English than sense itself and get an Earl Grey?" asks Emilia Clarke from the deep folds of a leather chesterfield sofa in the so-called Drawing Room of her downtown Manhattan hotel. The young waiter is only too happy to oblige, though it's unclear whether he knows he's in the presence of the Khaleesi, Mother of Dragons and rightful ruler of the Seven Kingdoms.

The way to a sci-fi’s heart is through its stomach.
At the beginning of Mad Max: Fury Road, Max Rockatansky crushes a double-headed gecko beneath his heel, wipes it off his boot, and eats it. It is a perfect moment — the panicked scuttling of the gecko over the sand as it fatally scurries towards Max’s foot; the crunches; the way the squirming lizard dangles helplessly from Max’s mouth as he turns to the camera. It’s a brief lull before we’re whisked away into 120 minutes of high-octane car theatrics — and it tells us everything we need to know about Max, ever the opportunist, and his hostile, crusty world. As NPR’s Jason Sheehan notes, a similar scene takes place in Road Warrior, in which Max chows down on some dog food; “a history of lack and desperation completely told with nothing more than a hungry stare, a...

Sick and twisted for the sake of being sick and twisted, Kuso is a certainly not a film for everyone, or perhaps anybody. I imagine the experience is like being high on something spiked with an agent that can induce awful nightmares. Though I’m not sure being drunk or high will make Kuso a delightful experience. Having seen the film stone-cold sober with an Earl Grey Tea Latte at an afternoon press-and-industry screening, I can confirm that, indeed, many critics and acquisition executives gave up at various points throughout. It’s a film that won’t been seen at a theater near you anytime soon, as it may, in fact, be in violation of many lease agreements, edging towards pornographic. But, if you came for the blood, sweat, tears, semen, and amniotic fluid, then Flying Lotus will give you your money’s worth in a nasty piece of work...

The decor of a Star Trek fans' home just wouldn’t be complete without this Star Trek: The Next Generation uniform-inspired bedding! This is one of the coolest and geekiest bedding designs that I’ve seen in awhile. It’s available in Twin Xl, Queen, or King, and it’s available at ThinkGeek. It’s actually a really slick-looking bedding design.
This Star Trek The Next Generation Bedding Set will let you tumble out of bed in the morning, completely relaxed and ready for that first cup of coffee or tea, Earl Grey, hot. The fitted sheet features a Delta Shield pattern, and the four solid Rank Pips printed on one side of the pillowcases declare you a Captain. The duvet cover, red, naturally, because you’re Command, has a Communicator Badge printed on it. Non-functioning, which is good because bed-dialing someone would be even more embarrassing than butt-dialing them.

As hinted in my Day 2 article, I was a zombie on Day 3. After staying up way too late the night before, I had to get up very early to make it to my interview with Ti West and Jason Blum. Skipping breakfast, I drove my little blue Honda Fit over to the Four Seasons.
Not to give away too much from my interview, but chatting with West and Blum was a dream. They’re both some of the smartest men in the business, and two people I greatly admire. Even in my tired haze, I knew that I needed to remember this moment forever, engrain it in my brain so that even when I’m old and Alzheimer’s has kicked in, I will still remember the moment when I interviewed my two favorite people working in horror.
The time after the interview was a little bit of a haze.

We complete our series looking back at the James Bond movies, with a detailed look at Spectre, starring Daniel Craig...
This article contains big spoilers for Spectre and Star Trek Into Darkness.
Daniel Craig’s fourth or Roger Moore’s eighth? The former of course but you get the point. The almost-realistic stylings of early Craig have given way to the full blown pantomime excess of mid-Moore (or late Connery, in fairness). Desert lairs, endless car chases, free-wheelin’ helicopters and indestructible airplanes are all very much back in vogue. The result is a largely enjoyable, extremely silly film which attempts to tie previous Craig outings together at the expense of consistency and logic. There isn’t a plot: more a succession of scenes stitched together. And it still can’t manage a decent finale! Fun but ultimately frivolous. Now who does that remind me of?

American fans of British TV have long had to make do with what BBC America and PBS choose to import. Of course, there are a lot of shows from across the pond, beyond "Downton Abbey," "Sherlock," "Doctor Who," and the Ricky Gervais original version of "The Office," that we haven't gotten to see. But Netflix has stepped into the breach and brought to these shores a lot of acclaimed British television that has gone unseen here or barely made a dent. Brew yourself a pot of Earl Grey and start binging on these series.

This week marks a very special holiday: International Tea Day! You can, of course, celebrate the occasion by brewing yourself a warm cup of Earl Grey to enjoy, but we have something else in mind. In recent years, "sipping tea" has evolved from a leisurely activity to a special kind of slang. It's the ultimate shady response, even more subtle than all the side-eye going on out there. So, consider an unconventional observation of International Tea Day and keep reading for a hilarious collection of celebrities sipping like there's no tomorrow.

In the end, the same thing that brought down the Chanels was also the major letdown with Scream Queens as a whole: the need to be right. The exact smugness that doomed the crew of blonde psychopaths at the center of this story was the season itself’s main misstep, and one that was doubled down upon rather than made more subtle as it progressed. Being right was more important than being smart in both cases and for the show, this means being way too proud of themselves as everything gets wrapped up. Scream Queens returns to form in its latest episode, Ghost Stories, written by showrunner Ryan Murphy...
This review contains spoilers.
1.9 Ghost Stories
Warts and all, Scream Queens is a show you can't help but fall in love with. It's bold, irreverent, funny and entertaining, but storytelling has been its downfall. The most recent instalments - Beware Of Young Girls and Mommie Dearest - were the weakest we've had yet and there was a genuine fear that those episodes could sound the death knell for a show that started so brilliantly. But this week's visit to Kappa Kappa Tau, Ghost Stories, is up there with Seven Minutes In Hell - and an absolute treat.
More character development, an advance in the Red Devil mystery, a tighter focus, a more inclusive cast and a perfect comedy-horror balance was on my wishlist for Ghost Stories after the duds in previous weeks.

When we started this bumpy road called Scream Queens, I swore I wasn’t going to let the Ryan Murphy-ness of the show bother me. You know what I mean: the absurd leaps, the crazy plot holes, the ridiculously circular logic. I wanted to enjoy this show for what it is — a fun, stupid romp — and just live with the rest. I can't ignore the problems anymore. There were just too many things in this episode that didn't make any sense. How are we supposed to care about Zayday and Earl Grey's relationship (or his death) when he has barely been on screen this entire season? He even acknowledges that they haven't kissed yet, which is such a classic Ryan Murphy device. By trying to turn the problem into a joke, though, the writers are admitting that they know about it and don't care enough to fix it.

Tuesday’s Scream Queens gave new meaning to the phrase “Once you go black, you never go back.”

No, really, Boone — who was able to walk the streets because strangers just assumed he’s Joaquin Phoenix — assigned a new meaning to it, telling Chad — who, for reasons beyond my comprehension, believed Boone was a ghost — that the only way he could return to the land of the living was by sleeping with Zayday.

It may be fun, but there's a distinct sense that Scream Queens is spinning its wheels in its latest episode, Pumpkin Patch...
This review contains spoilers
1.5 Pumpkin Patch
As we've come to learn, Scream Queens is not quite the trigger-happy show we first thought it was. Despite plenty of cannon fodder, Ryan Murphy, Ian Brennan and Brad Falchuk (who scripted this week's episode, Pumpkin Patch) are more content to concentrate on the show's campus melodrama with the Red Devil mystery bubbling away nicely on the side. The most recent three victims have all been unknown supporting characters and their deaths seem to happen because the creators need to fulfil their promised one-killing-a-week quota. Pumpkin Patch, like Haunted House before it, puts emphasis on the mystery and cuts down on the bloodshed with mixed results.
The biggest conflict here was between Chanel #5 and Chanel herself, although their bad blood isn't something new.

Ever wondered who is responsible for those beautiful illustrations of the bakers' cakes on the Great British Bake Off?
Well, his name is Tom Hovey, and he has been with the show since the beginning. He said on average it takes a week to produce each episode's illustrations, from the initial sketches to the digital colouring.
The Great British Bake Off: 7 most spectacular showstoppers ever
He told the BBC: "Nowadays I am much happier with the way the graphics look than I used to be. It took me until series 4 before I really felt like I had figured out the keys to unlocking the style I had been striving for in the first three series.
"I'm really happy with how the graphics have looked over the past few years but I'm constantly looking for ways I can push the work forward and show the bakes in the best light.

Patrick Stewart is about to go where no Enterprise captain has gone before: into the lead role in a premium cable comedy. As the star of Starz's "Blunt Talk," he gets to play an ambitious, reckless cable news host, and he gets to show off the comedic chops that he seldom displays in an acting career most famous for sci-fi heroics and Shakespearean speeches.
Stewart, of course, has been the highest-profile member of the "Star Trek: The Next Generation" cast, ever since the beloved syndicated series went off the air in 1994 and the crew's run of big-screen features ended in 2002. But what became of those who served on the starship Enterprise alongside Stewart's Captain Jean-Luc Picard? Synthesize a cup of tea ("Earl Grey. Hot.") and read on to find out. Ready? Engage.

"Earl Grey is my favourite tea," says Marjane Satrapi as she stuffs a handful of teabags into a large Thermos sat on the table before her. We're sat in a London hotel room to chat about her new film, the Ryan Reynolds-starring black serial killer comedy The Voices (2014), but British audiences are likely to have heard little from her since co-directing the adaptation of her own comic book, Persepolis, back in 2007. Her subsequent films, Chicken with Plums and The Gang of Jotas, haven't received releases in the UK - "what happened? Explain to me!" She's just snuck a crafty cigarette out of the open window and with her tea she's able to get comfortable. This is arguably the first time she's moved out of her comfort zone cinematically, adapting someone else's script.

What though, about some of the lesser-known series available on the UK streaming site?
Sweeping past the well-publicised riches of Doctor Who, Sherlock, Arrested Development, Community and the like, we've ventured into the slightly dustier shelf of TV shows available on Netflix UK that may be lesser-known or less widely celebrated than the big hitters out there, but are still richly deserving of your time.
