Hayden Griffin was born on January 23, 1943 in Pietermaritzburg, Natal, South Africa. Hayden was a production designer, known for Intimacy (2001), Wetherby (1985) and Conquest (1998). Hayden was married to Carol Lawrence and Fiona Williams. Hayden died on March 24, 2013 in London, England, UK.
His father was a Spitfire pilot in the South African Air Force, and his mother was a cousin of novelist Alan Paton.
After graduating from Durban Art School, he taught at the school and did odd-jobs in graphics, one of them a theatre poster. After the play's designer died unexpectedly, Hayden was asked to take over, and was hooked.
He was awarded the 1993 Drama Logue Award for Costume Design in "Money and Friends" in presented by the Center Theatre Group/Ahmanson at the James A. Doolittle (University of California) Theatre in Los Angeles, California.
