After living in Germany for the first few years of his life, Alex
Hakobian moved to Northern California. He was the star athlete in his
high school and went to UBA College and UCLA where he studied theater
and film. After getting a few jobs as an actor, a writer, a gaffer, and
other important jobs on the set, Hakobian got tired of the Hollywood
system and started teaching. After a few years of teaching English,
Hakobian started teaching film technique to children at Belvedere
Middle School in Los Angeles. One of the short videos that was made
there, The Bite of Apathy, won international awards including a CINE
Eagle. He then moved to Grant High School in Van Nuys, CA where he is
currently teaching film and video production. He and his students
regularly win about a third of all the awards they submit their videos
to and have an annuel "Film Night" where they show the best of the
videos they make in the school auditorium. Among the award winning
videos produced at Grant High School under Hakobian's supervision are
_For the Laughs (2000)_, _Spoiled Little Brat (1998)_, _California Ryan
(2000)_, and _The 10 Minute Run!!! (2001)_.
