- Will Hammer was born on November 21, 1887 in Hammersmith, London, England, UK. He was a producer and actor, known for The Bank Messenger Mystery (1936), Polly's Two Fathers (1936) and Song of Freedom (1936). He was married to Theresa Veronica Drummond. - Prior to founding Hammer Studios, he owned a chain of bicycle shops and hairdressing salons.
- Operated a theatrical booking agency and, at one time, performed in a short-lived double comedy act, "Hammer & Smith". Later owned theatres in Bournemouth, Clacton, Felixstowe and Broadstairs. In 1934, partnered Enrique Carrerras in setting up Exclusive Films. His own production company went into liquidation in 1937, but, in 1949, he registered a new organisation under his name, acting as its director until his death in 1957.
- Separated from his wife (who died in 1975), his partner in his last years was Nesta Winifred May Harrison, known as Pat. She was mother to his fifth child, Susan. Although they were never married, she changed her name legally to Hinds in 1947.
