Handler opened up about having a threesome with their unnamed female masseuse, before the women carried on hooking up without Harbert knowing.
Handler dated former NBC Broadcasting chairman Harbert from 2006-2010. He was president of E! Entertainment when the comedian’s late-night show premiered.
During an interview with Andy Cohen on SiriusXM, Handler admitted: “I’ve slept with a woman but I haven’t dated a woman, no. It was like a threesome. It was fun. I would [do that again], for sure.”

Variety writer Jon Burlingame’s new book, “Music for Prime Time: A History of American Television Themes and Scoring,” is published today. The product of 35 years of research and more than 450 interviews, it tells the backstory of every great TV theme dating back to 1949. What follows is an excerpt from the sitcom chapter.
In the summer of 1994, ABC Entertainment president Ted Harbert (in response to a question from this writer at a network press conference) admitted that he was asking his producers to eliminate the traditional main-title sequence – and with it, the musical theme – from all new shows.
“I think it’s an antiquated practice,” he said. “It gives the audience an opportunity to take the little remote and zap around. We really have to find ways to stop them from doing that. The 60-second, or in some cases 90-second, main title that they see week after week, given all the choices they have,...

As we stroll on Disney’s historic Burbank lot toward the plaza where he is about to be photographed in front of a statue of Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse holding hands, I ask Iger if he is feeling melancholy about his decision to leave.
“I’m being resolute about it — this time around. I haven’t once second-guessed it or hesitated,” he tells me. “It’s bittersweet. I’m going to miss people, and I’m going to miss the creative process.” Iger, who turns 71 in February and who began his career at age 23 at ABC, is one of only six CEOs to lead Disney since its founding in 1923 until Bob Chapek assumed the role in February 2020.
Ten days from now, Iger can step away knowing that few, if any, media leaders can claim as impressive a track record at any one enterprise as he achieved over his time...

Disney came close to buying Twitter in 2016. Michael Eisner made an impassioned pitch to the Disney board to block Bob Iger’s acquisition of Pixar. In the mid-1980s, Iger almost joined ICM as a sports agent.
Those are some of the intriguing revelations in Iger’s new book “The Ride of a Lifetime: Lessons Learned From 15 Years as CEO of the Walt Disney Company.” Iger describes the book as not so much a memoir as an effort to share the knowledge and leadership skills he’s gained after more than 45 years in the trenches, starting out at ABC in 1974 and at Disney since 1995.
Iger’s book is liveliest in the passages discussing the big transactions that have transformed Disney on his watch: the acquisition of Pixar in 2006, followed by Marvel in 2009 and Lucasfilm in 2012. He also explains the reasoning behind his famous regimen of waking at 4:15 a.m.

The death of legendary television producer Steven Bochco on Sunday left Hollywood reeling — and full of stories about their experiences working with him as he created some of the medium’s most groundbreaking shows, including “Hill Street Blues,” “L.A. Law” and “NYPD Blue.” Here, some of the executives, stars, and producers who worked with him share their memories of their time with him.
Dennis Franz, star of “Hill Street Blues,” “NYPD Blue”
I met Steven Bochco at an audition for “Hill Street Blues,” when I was going in for the role of Sal Benedetto. There was the usual group of people standing around, but there was one guy in the corner with graying hair flipping a basketball in the air. He threw it to me, and I caught it. That really broke the tension.

Months ago, when NBC was deciding to move The Tonight Show back to New York, part of the NBCUniversal-think was that it would allow the company to streamline booking of talent across its many talk-show platforms based in New York – also including Late Night, Today, Saturday Night Live, Meredith Vieira’s new show, Watch What Happens Live, Access Hollywood, E! News, etc. Last month, NBC Broadcast chairman Ted Harbert told Deadline that NBCU was working to streamline guest booking across its various celebrity-centric New York-based shows, including the Jimmy Fallon-hosted Tonight. The ability to orchestrate an “event” across multiple programs for a celeb with something to plug would give Tonight a big booking edge over its late-night competition, for example. NBC Broadcasting Chairman Ted Harbert told advertisers today that the 2013-14 season “will be better than this season” as NBCUniversal “speaks to our customers with unity, clarity and precision….Everybody is talking to each other a lot.” Other execs echoed the theme that they’re on the case to turn things around following NBC’s disappointing ratings this season. “We have no illusions about how much work is ahead of us to grow our business,” NBC Entertainment Chairman Bob Greenblatt said at his company’s upfront presentation. Although he says he “doesn’t usually believe in testing” for new shows, this year “testing really seemed to go our way.” NBCU Advertising Sales President Linda Yaccarino called the upcoming slate “an outstanding lineup filled with innovation and creativity.” She adds that following Comcast’s acquisition of the company from General Electric, “NBCUniversal is a different kind of media company” that’s...

After months of speculation, Seth Meyers is officially taking over "Late Night" on NBC.
"We think Seth is one of the brightest, most insightful comedy writers and performers of his generation. His years at SNL's 'Weekend Update' desk, not to mention being head writer of the show for many seasons, helped him hone a topical brand of comedy that is perfect for the 'Late Night' franchise," NBC Entertainment Chairman Bob Greenblatt said in a statement on Sunday.
"On behalf of Steve Burke, Ted Harbert and Paul Telegdy, we couldn't be happier that Seth and Jimmy Fallon will be continuing their careers at NBC after growing up in this network's late night legacy."
Meyers tweeted the news on Sunday afternoon.

NBCU considered this “such a minor move” that it didn’t even think it was worth announcing. Wow, what a diss of NBC Broadcasting Chairman Ted Harbert, who has been in the Witness Protection Program ever since Comcast bought NBCUniversal. And when the pint-sized putz isn’t hiding from angry O&Os and affiliates and advertisers fed up with yet another lousy network primetime season, he’s screaming at reporters who didn’t share his belief that Animal Practice would be a homerun this season. (Media 1, Ted 0.) In actuality the only impetus for handing Harbert an infinitesimal new late night role is the multimillion-dollar remodeling of the 30 Rock studio that will house The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon when it moves to New York. Harbert is NYC-based and in charge of NBC’s buildings, so he was tapped. (Was Kenneth Parcell too busy?) Let me emphasize there is no change in the late-night reporting structure,...

Chelsea Handler is finally taking her love life seriously. The 37-year-old comedienne, who documented her numerous one-night-stands in a 2005 book of essays, opened up about her on-again romance with hotelier Andre Balazs during a Feb. 18 appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. "We can talk about my boyfriend!" Handler said when host Ellen DeGeneres inquired about the wealthy hotelier, 56. "I love him. He's the best." Exclusive: Barry Wallach has stepped down as President, NBCUniversal Domestic Television Distribution, a position he has held since May 2004. He is leaving the company, citing personal reasons (read his note to the company’s staff below). There will be no immediate replacement for Wallach, with Ted Harbert, Chairman, NBC Broadcasting, who oversees NBCU’s syndication arm, evaluating the future. “Barry has led our syndication business with great distinction,” Harbert said. “He has been a valued partner and colleague and I will deeply miss his wise counsel. We thank him for all that he has done for NBCUniversal and wish him nothing but continued success in the future.” Wallach oversaw the development, production and distribution of first-run programming, along with the sales of off-network content. There is a major executive change at E! Entertainment with president of entertainment programming Lisa Berger suddenly leaving her post. Berger has been at E! for nine years, overseeing the network’s original programming development, first under president Ted Harbert and, for the past year under his successor Suzanne Kolb. Berger led the network during the transition from Comcast to NBCUniversal ownership, where the cable network falls under the purview of NBCU veteran Bonnie Hammer, and was among the executives rumored for the top E! post. During her tenure at E!, Berger shepherded such hit unscripted series as The Girls Next Door, Keeping Up With The Kardashians and its offshoots and late-night staple Chelsea Lately. She most recently oversaw the network’s expansion into scripted programming. Berger, who was a creative executive at Fox Television Studios Production and MTV before joining E! as Svp Programming Development in September 2003, indicated she...

For years, it sometimes seemed as if executives at NBC were deliberately trying to destroy the network from within (or "tank it," as Jack Donaghy would say). But no more: Under the new Kabletown Comcast management team of Robert Greenblatt and Ted Harbert, the Peacock finds itself in the middle of what appears to be a legitimate Nielsen recovery. Evidence of the network's quickening pulse is unmistakable: Newcomer Revolution is drawing big crowds on Mondays; The Voice regularly clobbers the Simon Cowell–led X Factor; and Matthew Perry's Go On has found a decent-size audience on Tuesdays. Throw in monster numbers from Sunday Night Football (the network’s only bright spot in past seasons), and the result is a world where NBC actually won the first month of the 2012-13 TV season among viewers under 50, the demographic group most frequently fetishized by advertisers. But is it too early to call it a comeback?...

Updated: In a rare case of high-profile executive poaching between broadcast networks, NBC has hired away ABC’s longtime head of scheduling Jeff Bader. He is being given a title of President, Program Planning, Strategy and Research, NBC Entertainment and will report to Robert Greenblatt, Chairman of NBC Entertainment. The move is reminiscent of then-cbs’ head of business affairs Marc Graboff’s jump to NBC in 1997 and represents a hit to Paul Lee’s top executive team. In the newly created position, which reportedly comes with a significant salary bump for Bader, he will be responsible for scheduling NBC’s primetime, daytime and late night programming. He will have NBC Entertainment’s scheduling and research departments reporting to him and will also work with NBC News and NBC Sports. “Jeff Bader is widely known as one of the broadcasting industry’s most consummate executives and he will be integral to...
