It’s no secret that Deadpool‘s first live-action appearance wasn’t in his record-breaking, R-rated solo outing. The Merc With A Mouth first cropped up in the critically-derided X-Men Origins: Wolverine, a spin-off prequel focusing on Wolvie’s days before joining Professor X’s crew. You’d be hard pushed to find anyone who enjoys that film’s version of Deadpool. It’s not loyal to the character and it utterly wasted Ryan Reynolds’ gift of the gab.
While you might think Origins director Gavin Hood would be… a bit pissed that Tim Miller’s take on the chatty merc struck gold, it turns out he’s just as happy as the rest of us. In an interview with Cinema Blend, Hood showered Miller and co. with praise for their loyal, winning take on Deadpool:
“I think the character works so well now, because the character is allowed...

By the time the "Goosebumps" publishing phenomenon began, I was well past the age of the target audience. I worked at a bookstore for a little while in the '90s, and watching the way kids went berserk about the series, I was always curious about what made them so addictive. Now I've got a voracious reader in my house, and he's burning his way through the series, which made us the perfect pair to watch Sony's new big-budget "Goosebumps" movie. Sony has several films on their slate that follow the "Jumanji" model, including an actual "Jumanji" reboot, and the script credited to Darren Lemke, from a story by Scott Alexander & Larry Karaszewski, is certainly efficient at setting up and unleashing the bad guys here. What once would have seemed avant-garde, blending the author of the series with his own creations, is now a big fat commercial hook. After all,...

As we’ve now reached the end of principal photography on Ender’S Game, it seems fitting to take a step back and acknowledge the two people responsible for giving such vivid life to the imaginary world in which we’ve spent the past many months immersed.

While we still have more than a year to wait for Ender's Game to arrive in theaters, production on the film adaptation of Orson Scott Card's popular sci-fi novel appears to be wrapping up. Producer Roberto Orci dedicated the latest installment of the production blog for the film to discussing the work of Ben Procter and Sean Haworth, the Production Designer team for the movie. And he also shared two photos from the set of the film. Directed by Gavin Hood, Ender's Game is set in the future when mankind is preparing for a war against an alien race called Formics (also referred to as "buggers"). The story follows a child named Ender (Asa Butterfield), a kid who's recruited to attend battle school where children study and play games in preparation for the approaching war. Beyond the futuristic, space-set backdrop is a story about a kid who proves to...

Here's an interesting article written by Ender's Game author Orson Scott Card where he talks about The Avengers as well as his visit to the set of the Ender's Game movie. He says some very interesting things that fans of the novel might not see as being a good thing, as he makes a point to say that this movie is not the book that he wrote, but he still had very positive things to say about it.
Here's a few things he had to say...
I was on the set of Ender's Game last week to record my one line in the movie – a voiceover of a pilot making an announcement to his passengers.
I sat, off-camera, reading my sole line, which comes in the middle of a scene between Harrison Ford as Col. Graff and Asa Butterfield as Ender Wiggin.
The scene does not come from the book...
