While the quality of mercy is not strained, television productions (and their budgets) often are. We are sad to report the Mercy Street TV show on PBS has been cancelled. There will be no season three on PBS. Ridley Scott, David Zucker, and David Zabel, executive produced the series.A Civil War-era medical drama, Mercy Street follows the doctors, nurses, contraband laborers, and Confederate loyalists at the Mansion House Hospital in Union-occupied Alexandria, Virginia. It is set prior to the Emancipation Proclamation. The PBS TV series stars: Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Josh Radnor, Gary Cole, Peter Gerety, Donna Murphy, Norbert Leo Butz, McKinley Belcher III, Shalita Grant, L. Scott Caldwell, Hannah James, Wade Williams, AnnaSophia Robb, Tara Summers, Brad Koed, Luke Macfarlane, Cameron Monaghan, Suzanne Bertish, and Cherry Jones.Read More…...

PBS has another hit on their hands, but there still aren’t nearly enough people watching Mercy Street. With the season finale hitting this Sunday, March 5th (8pm Et), I want to share a preview and give you a chance to catch up.
When the second season premiered, the official hashtag (#MercyStreetPBS) trended for almost the full hour, and peaked at #3 for nationwide ranking, which is a fantastic win for the show, but despite the solid rankings and ratings the show is enjoying, it isn’t enough. Not only is the show a wonderful look at a small slice of Civil War-era America, but it has a cast to envy, and they are certainly living up to expectations. Josh Radnor, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Jack Falahee, Gary Cole, and many more deliver characters that are engaging beyond the standard of television productions.
You can catch up on the season at PBS.

Leverage's Nate Ford has out-conned some very ruthless opponents, but for his next job, he'll have to outsmart himself. Well, sort of.
Summer TV: Get scoop on your favorite returning shows
In Sunday's episode (9/8c, TNT) Nate (Timothy Hutton) and his team target a public relations whiz named Reed Rockwell (Mad Men's Michael Gladis). Rockwell's particular brand of PR involves protecting his clients by sniping at their enemies and sometimes launching full-scale character assassinations. The challenge in taking Rockwell down is that he's a bit of a wizard behind the curtain.
"He works from the shadows and behind the scenes, sort of like Nate," Gladis tells TVGuide.com....

Chicago – The game is on and the gang is back in TNT Network’s “Leverage,” premiering its fourth season on June 26th. Oscar winner Timothy Hutton is again ready to lead his team of con artists, grifters and hackers to stick it to the man.
Television Rating: 3.5/5.0
The chemistry of the team is rock solid as the new season unfolds. There is some rollover from season three, as former insurance investigator Nathan Ford (Hutton) continues to mentor his team of outside-the-law experts to bring down corrupt capitalists and other shady criminals. Having slept with team member and con artist Sophie (Gina Bellman), Ford must deal with that conflict of interest and his ongoing struggles with substance abuse.
The fourth season begins with an unusual case, a wealthy derivative analyst is missing on a mountain climbing expedition in Alaska. His wife has contacted Ford and his team to join the base...

Chicago – In a world where corporate bailouts and scumbags like Bernie Madoff dominate the news, it would seem like TNT’s “Leverage” would be a natural choice for a summer diversion. The Timothy Hutton star vehicle is essentially “Robin Hood” for the modern age or “Ocean’s 11” if Danny Ocean were a bit more philanthropic and it may not be groundbreaking television but it is something the broadcast network offerings have not been this season - mostly entertaining.x
TV Rating: 3.0/5.0 Hutton stars as Nate Ford, a former insurance investigator who watched as corruption and corporate neglect led to the death of his son. In the first season, now on DVD (more details on that at the bottom of this review), Ford gathered a team of social and technical experts who assisted him in revenge schemes to try and balance the fight between David and Goliath.

Chicago – TNT’s medical drama “HawthoRNe” would have felt overly generic in any month of the year, but debuting in the same one as Showtime’s far darker, subtler and more entertaining “Nurse Jackie” does the show no favors at all. Jada Pinkett Smith executive-produces and stars in a well-intentioned program with a good pedigree (John Masius of “St. Elsewhere” is one of the producers) but one that feels like a relic of a bygone era of more manipulative television.
Television Rating: 2.0/5.0 The premiere of “HawthoRNe” introduces us to the title character, Nurse Christina Hawthorne, on the one-year anniversary of her husband’s death. Hawthorne is the Chief Nursing Officer at Richmond Trinity Hospital, leading a group of nurses against two-dimensional doctors always trying to screw them over and patients who need them to survive.
