The Mediator with Ice-t, a weekday, half-hour legal series hosted by the veteran rapper and actor, will get a limited four-week run on Fox-owned stations, including stations in New York and Los Angeles, premiering in March 2021.
In the program, Ice-t will virtually seek resolutions between two feuding civilian parties. Each side will plead their argument, providing the evidence, facts and details of the case to Ice-t, who will then call upon various well-known and knowledgeable experts to share their perspective and advice. As an unbiased and respected third party, Ice-t will offer his best recommendation for how the complainants should proceed. If they accept his suggestion, the case will be settled. If they choose not to accept, the case will move to court. The program will provide viewers with updates on the results of various cases that move forward to court. Participants will apply for the mediation via The Mediator app.

WikiLeaks founder to judge films at the 21st Raindance Film Festival; 2013 line-up unveiled.Scroll down for full line-up of films
Julian Assange has joined the jury of the 21st Raindance Film Festival (Sept 25 - Oct 6), a London-based event that celebrates independent film in the UK and around the world.
The appointment is a controversial one. The Australian editor-in-chief and founder of WikiLeaks took refuge in the Ecuadorean embassy in London in June 2012 to avoid extradition to Sweden, where he is wanted for questioning about sexual assault allegations.
It is understood that he fears Sweden would extradite him to the Us, where he believes he is wanted in relation to WikiLeaks’ disclosure of a significant amount of classified Us military and diplomatic documents.
Commenting on Assange’s appointment, Raindance founder Elliot Grove said: “Every year Raindance invites interesting people to join our jury. In the past we have had musicians like Mick Jones, Marky Ramone and [link...

“You name a movie ‘Portrait of a Pimp’ and people don’t know what to expect. The biggest fans of this film are the people going in expecting to hate it, and walk out changed,” says veteran rapper, actor, author and film producer Ice-t of his latest documentary – and follow up to Something From Nothing: The Art of Rap from last year - Iceberg Slim: Portrait of a Pimp, directed by his long time manager Jorge Hinojosa, and which Ice-t executive produced. Iceberg - which got a warm reception when it premiered at last year’s Toronto Film Festival, and in theaters on a limited release starting this Friday 7/19 - is a complex, compelling and provocative portrait of Robert Beck, who became...

Intentions and effect are at odds throughout Jorge Hinojosa's one-note documentary Iceberg Slim: Portrait of a Pimp, which like its subject—the pimp-turned-author who found success with books like 1967's Pimp: The Story of My Life—nominally censures the women-exploiting business that it not-so-subtly celebrates. Slim is presented as a suave, coldhearted gentleman who had a change of heart and took to the typewriter after repeated stints in prison. Hinojosa employs stock archival materials, stylish animated sequences, and enthusiastic talking heads (Chris Rock, Snoop Dogg, Bill Duke, producer Ice-t) to argue that Slim was a pioneer for being the first to authentically write about the inner-city streets. Influential as his writing may have been, however, what em...

Bad Influence: Godfather Of Modern Hustle Still Leaving Back Handed Impressions
Leaving a legacy of pimp ideology behind, the legendary pimp and author Iceberg Slim wrote numerous culturally influential books that showed the underbelly of urban society with a raw authenticity and conversational style that continues to shape life on the streets to this day. Jorge Hinojosa’s directorial debut, Iceberg Slim: Portrait of a Pimp, draws on his hip hop managerial roots to seek insight into Slim’s significance in not only rap culture, but the literary and comedy worlds as well, all the while delving deep into his widely unknown upbringing through family discussions and a few rare interviews with the legend himself.
Slim, born Robert Lee Maupin and later changed to Robert Beck, grew up during the Great Depression in a broken home with less than dazzling career prospects, but thanks to his own empowered charm...

Toronto — A good deal deeper than it needs to be given its subject's status in pop culture -- the influence of Robert Beck's books is seen in everything from Ice-t's early records to Pimp My Ride -- Jorge Hinojosa's Iceberg Slim: Portrait of a Pimp chooses not simply to celebrate an icon's seedy glamour but to examine who he was and what became of him. A large audience of hip-hop fans is assured, but newcomers will also find it involving. Beck, whose 1969 memoir became an underground classic and spawned a series of books, was a Chicago native whose
