Welcome to this week’s review of Impact Wrestling, which this week opens with a Before the Impact match that saw Deonna Purrazzo defeat Steph De Lander. Let’s get into the review…
Match #1: Kushida def. Ace Austin The following is courtesy of impactwrestling.com:
Momentum is up for grabs ahead of the blockbuster six-man tag team match between Bullet Club and Time Machine at No Surrender! Kushida hits a handspring back elbow, then soars off the apron with a diving knee. Kushida continues to target the arm of Bey before both men are taken out with a double clothesline on the outside. The referee counts to nine as Bey and Kushida make it back in the ring just in time. Bey spikes him head-first into the mat for two. Kushida regains his composure and launches himself off the top rope with a Swanton Bomb to the floor. Bey...

Welcome to this Christmas edition of Major League Wrestling, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have Court Bauer’s answer to Santa Claus when he asked if Court had been a good boy this year. Do you think Santa smacked him in the head when he just showed an hour episode of Mlw instead of answering the question? What if he asked Bad Santa? Does Tony Cox come with him? Screw it. Here comes The Monkees…Major League Wrestling. Santa didn’t bring me a delete button, so The Monkees get to stay…especially Peter Tork.
Match #1: Pco vs. Brody King – No Disqualification Match
My Take: 3.5 out of 5 – As a sound match this was no masterpiece, but as a great spectacle, this was a wild opener. Both of these guys are on their way to Ring of Honor for 2019, but they went out with a...

The WWE is in the midst of realizing that women can bring just as much to the table, if not more, than men in the world of professional wrestling. With stars like Charlotte Flair, Bayley, Sasha Banks, Becky Lynch, and others, they have collected a roster of women that can perform in the ring and demand the audience attention in much the same way the men do.
With that said, the WWE is always on the lookout for talent. One such talent they've signed to the Nxt roster is Io Shirai. You can forgive most American wrestling fans if they don't recognize the name. Her claim to fame has been in Japan with the Stardom wrestling organization.
But that doesn't mean American audiences haven't seen her. Lucha Underground gave Io Shirai her American introduction on a Season 3 episode of Lucha Underground. Facing off against Pentagon Dark, she went on to have an amazing match.

Nxt: Takeover: Chicago will air this Saturday on the WWE Network for the first time outside of their quarterly, big four schedule. (The big four I reference of course being the WWE events Royal Rumble, Wrestlemania, Summerslam, and Survivor Series.) Taking place at the Allstate Arena in Chicago, Illinois, the show features the best and brightest of the WWE Nxt brand. Since the Nxt brand has consistently put on some of the best shows of the year for the WWE, I thought we'd take a few minutes to go through the card for the show while I offer some predictions on who may win.
Roderick Strong vs Eric Young
Roderick Strong has been on one heck of a roll as of late. He's still pretty young despite his years in Ring of Honor and other organizations. The WWE has a blue chipper on their hands with Roddy and I think...

This Sunday is the first night of Chanukah, the Jewish festival of lights.
Sure, the anticipation for Christmas has been raging for weeks already, but for the all of the Jewish people around the world, we’ve only got a few more days to go. Chanukah may not be the most important of our holidays, but it’s hard to find one that’s more fun – for eight days we exchange presents, eat potato pancakes, and spin a top. All I’m saying is, I’m not jealous of your yuletide festivities.
With Chanukah frenzy at a high, I thought it would be fun to celebrate the holiday on WhatCulture, courtesy of your favorite form of entertainment and mine: professional wrestling.
Over the years, there have been several great Jewish grapplers, men and women who have represented all sorts of different fighting styles and brought many different styles and talents to the ring.

WWE fans are not happy. The company, however, seems pretty pleased with themselves as they hit a million subscribers for their network. They’re giving themselves the old Barry Horowitz pat on the back. So basically, the lesson from the 2014 Batista Rumble bomb has not been learned. The company is going with the strange promoting tactic of purposefully pissing off their fans once a year. It’s like an employee at McDonald’s randomly kicking you in the stomach, and then maybe making up for it with a free McFlurry.
In other wrestling news, Raw’s live arena show was cancelled on Monday, Emma got demoted back to Nxt and some random magician that 99% of the population has never heard of showed up on SmackDown. It’s quite amazing that the second that magic man hit The Miz over the head with an egg R-Truth said “The yolks on you!

When an event of any kind is around as long as World Wrestling Entertainment’s Survivor Series has been, there are destined to be matches and moments that were considerably awesome at the time they aired but, in the years proceeding them, have gone forgotten due to an influx of news matches and moments for fans to celebrate. Throughout the fall extravaganza’s near three-decade long existence, the show has been home to some highly controversial moments that have shoved those outstanding matches further into the background.
Thanks to the introduction of the company’s revolutionary WWE Network, however, fans have each and every edition of the show at their disposal, making it much easier to go back in time and revisit some of the best and most forgotten matches in the event’s annals.

In a matter of days, wrestling fans will find out if the months of rumors are true: Will Japanese superstar Kenta finally make a splash in WWE? The 33-year-old Pro Wrestling Noah veteran has reached legendary status in his home country, and diehard fans are beside themselves over what bringing one of the top wrestling talents in the world into WWE could mean. Would he rekindle his Ring of Honor rivalry with Daniel Bryan? Can Kenta make a big enough impact to live up to the hype?
If Kenta comes to WWE, he won’t be the first major Japanese star to appear in the Stamford-based promotion, but he might be the most highly touted in the past 30 years. Japanese wrestlers have had mixed success in WWE throughout the years. Some failed to connect with audiences, which could be because of a language barrier or due to stereotypical ethnic booking,...

The annual Royal Rumble match, held in January, is one of the highlights of the wrestling year, as thirty men from an assortment of different spots on the card enter the ring and participate in an hour of relentless and unpredictable action until just one man is left standing, receiving a title match at Wrestlemania for his troubles.
The brainchild of Pat Patterson, the match was first held in 1988, where just twenty men competed and ‘Hacksaw’ Jim Duggan emerged victorious. Twenty six years later, the match dawns upon us once again.
Though the current roster has an abundance of talent, this has not always been the case, and in years gone by the WWE has had to scrape the very bottom of the barrel on occasion (who can forget the appearances of Squat Team Member #1 and Squat Team Member #2 in 1996!) to fill the Rumble match with thirty participants. As a result of this,...
