- Gilbert Houcke was born on May 28, 1918. He was an actor, known for Sterne über Colombo (1953), Artists Under the Big Top: Perplexed (1968) and Circus Girl (1954). He died on December 15, 1984.
- Member of a dynasty of animal trainers, who, from the 19th century onwards worked in some of the most famous circuses in Europe and America. With his brothers Maurice and Sacha, Gilbert recreated the Ben-Hur style chariot race at the Grand Palais in Paris. However, he was best known as a trainer of tigers and was notably featured with Circus Busch in the German movie Stern ueber Columbo.
