While I would agree that Creed is a Rocky spinoff, it’s also something of a spiritual remake of the 1976 Oscar winning classic from Sylvester Stallone. Ryan Coogler (Fruitvale Station) has delivered one of the best in the series and has given us a fresh new beginning for what could be a whole new series of movies.
Rocky is now a mentor to young fighter Donnie Johnson, who happens to be the illegitimate son of Rocky’s forma rival and deceased friend, Apollo Creed. Donnie heads to Philly to seek out the advice and training of the Italian stallion. Michael B.
