George Zimmerman may or may not be employed working security for a Florida store that sells guns and ammunition.
George Zimmerman Guarding A Gun Store?
Police found Zimmerman, who was acquitted in the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin in 2013, sitting in his parked truck outside of Pompano Pat’s Motorcycles in Deland, Fla., according to Wftv. When the officers asked Zimmerman what he was doing there, he claimed that the store had recently been burglarized and that the owner had asked him to provide some security.
"He said he had permission from Pat Johnson to do night security, but our officers could not make contact with Pat Johnson to verify that so we did an information report," DeLand Police Sgt. Chris Estes told the Daytona Beach News-Journal.
Incidentally, Pat Johnson is the man who offered to give Zimmerman a replacement handgun for the one he’d used to shoot...

Plot: Growing up in rural Illinois in the mid-seventies, teenaged Pat Johnson (John Francis Daley) dreams of being a filmmaker like his idols Stanley Kubrick, Steven Spielberg, and Douglas Trumbull. But will Pat be able to escape his small town, and take the gamble of pursuing his dreams no matter where they take him? Review: I.d wager the vast majority of you that have clicked on this review are fully aware of the significance of the title 5-25-77. Of course, May 25th, 1977 was the day...

Lorengar/Johnson/King/Fischer-Dieskau/Greindl/Deutsche Oper Orchestra and Chorus/Sawallisch
(Arthaus Musik)
One of the most influential singers of the 20th century, Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau died last May, aged 86. Primarily associated with the German repertoire, he was also a fine Verdian, particularly noted for his performances as Posa in Don Carlos, which he sings in this 1965 telecast from the Deutsche Oper Berlin. He's in marginally better voice than on his famous studio recording of the work for Decca, though it's the subtle physicality of his acting that is the real revelation here. He's by no means the only reason for watching: Pilar Lorengar is immensely touching as Elisabeth; Patricia Johnson makes Eboli a figure of tremendous complexity; and there's grand, intense conducting from Wolfgang Sawallisch. Less convincing are Josef Greindl and James King, miscast as Philip and Carlos respectively. The psychologically astute, if severe production is by Gustav Rudolf Sellner.

Good news Star Wars fans, Patrick Read Johnson‘s 5-25-77 looks to be finally set for release. Aside from being shown at a film festival, the movie has sat on the shelf collecting dust. For more details about the project, check out a cool article at Hollywood Elsewhere.

R&B legends Ashford and Simpson return to the Rrazz Room, Hotel Nikko, 222 Mason, Sf, Tuesday November 3 through Sunday, November 15. Tickets are $47.50-$55 and can be purchased at www.therrazzroom.com, directly through www.ticketweb.com or 866 468 3399. Last year's shows sold out.
As songwriters and performers, Ashford & Simpson have long ranked among the most acclaimed creative couples in contemporary music. Their award-winning collaborations began in 1964 when they recorded an original song as "Valerie & Nick." Nickolas Ashford had just moved to New York in pursuit of a theater career and met Bronx native Valerie Simpson, who was playing and singing with a Harlem church's legendary choir.
Nick joined the choir and the two began writing songs, selling their first batch for $75. They were soon signed to Scepter Records as staff songwriters, breaking through in 1966 with Ray Charles major hit "Let's Go Get Stoned." This led to signing with Motown Records, where...

Its double movie time for this week’s Under the Radar. The first of the two is the film entitled ‘77, the latest title that it’s been through within the past few years (previously being known as 5-25-77 or 1977 if that rings a bell). The film itself has gone through many hardships, been in and out of production for years and still looms on with an uncertain release date for the general audience. Despite all of that, ‘77 involves the heart and dedication of many years of labor and love that a fair portion of us are interested in seeing. A creation not from the minds of random nerds but a autobiographical tale from director & writer Patrick Read Johnson, read on to see what it is all about.

Yet another movie about "Star Wars," called "77," is being made. But unlike "Fanboys," this is more of a coming-of-age story rather than a hilarious road trip. Today, we have a trailer for it. Check it out below. Plot: Alienated, hopeful-filmmaker Pat Johnson's (John Francis Daley) epic story about growing up in rural Illinois, falling in love, and becoming the first fan of the movie that changed everything. The new movie is written and directed by Patrick Read Johnson, who the movie is about. He previously helmed "Space Invaders" and "Angus," and is credit with providing the story for "Dragonheart." "77" has yet to find a distributor. Trailer: If you cannot see the player, click here.

I didn't think Fanboys did much to ingratiate itself to non-Star Wars fans, but '77 looks like it approaches Star Wars as a story element in the life of someone rather than someone's life revolving around Star Wars. That's a big difference if you're in the audience.
To be sure, there's plenty of George Lucas in this story of a young small-town filmmaker who loves the movies and loves, loves, loves, sci-fi. To Pat Johnson (John Francis Daley), May 25, 1977 just seems like it could be the best day in the world. As he says, "In the movie theater, there are no cliques," meaning his inner geek is the same as everyone else's.
I think Daley has shades of Zach Braff here, but not like Scrubs season four - present Zach Braff; I meant the comparison as a compliment, actually. Take a look for yourself:...

Before everyone gets all aggro on me for dissing Kyle Newman's Fanboys right off the bat, lets put things in perspective: anyone who has seen Fanboys knows that it really wasn't the bodacious geek thrill ride that the hype promised. It was a lot of fun, yes, but it was also a little flat here and there. My theory is that it might actually be a great movie, but the fact that I had to write 1,700 articles about it in the few years that it sat shelved over at Weinstein Central might have completely numbed me to the flick. My hope is that we can learn from that experience and possibly enjoy some of the coming-of-age Star Wars geekery in Patrick Read Johnson's indie comedy 77, the trailer for which can be seen below. It tells the story of hopeful filmmaker Pat Johnson (John Francis Daley), loner, as he grows up in rural Illinois, falls...

I'm not sure why everyone is so fascinated with making movies about Star Wars recently, but I don't mind, I'll see every last one, I'm a big Star Wars geek. I've actually heard of the movie 77 before, back when it was previously known as 5-25-77 - which, for those who don't know, is the exact day that A New Hope first came out. Unlike the movie Fanboys, this is more of a coming-of-age drama than a road trip comedy. There's also a lot of great movie references, as the story is about a wannabe filmmaker whose life changes the moment he sees Star Wars. Every true self-proclaimed geek should be watching this trailer right now. Watch the first trailer for Patrick Read Johnson's 77: [flv:http://media2.firstshowing.net/firstshowing/77-trailer-full.flv http://media2.firstshowing.net/firstshowing/77-trailer-full.jpg 540 270] For more info on the film, check out the official website: 77-movie.com Alienated, hopeful-filmmaker Pat Johnson's (played by John Francis Daley) epic...
