Pinewood has announced plans to set up a new studio in Cardiff.
The studio will be based at the former Energy Centre building in Wentloog, First Minister Carwyn Jones and Pinewood Shepperton chief executive Ivan Dunleavy confirmed today (February 17).
The 180,000 sq ft studio is expected to generate around £90 million for the Welsh economy.
"Attracting such an iconic global brand as Pinewood is wonderful news for Wales," Jones said.
"This high-profile investment is of significant economic value to Wales while the partnership between the Welsh government and Pinewood offers a priceless opportunity to promote Wales as a world-class location for film and television production."
Pinewood and Shepperton Studios have released over 1,500 films in more than 75 years, including the James Bond franchise.
Welsh actor Michael Sheen said of the plans: "This is a logical next step, building upon the huge success of the revitalised Welsh entertainment industry.
"It's always a precarious business...

Prince William and wife Kate were together last night to visit with rugby players and executives at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium. William, vice patron of the Welsh Rugby Union, and Kate first attended a reception for the Welsh Rugby Charitable Trust, which supports injured players, and said hello to the First Minister of Wales Carwyn Jones. After some meeting and greeting, William and Kate took their seats to watch the match between Wales and New Zealand. Kate was decked out in a red L.K.Bennett coat and carrying a Gucci clutch for the occasion and evidently was quite fond of the Bennett piece - she kept it on during the reception, while most others removed their outerwear. Despite Prince William and Kate's support, the Welsh team lost to visiting New Zealand 33 to 10. Kate has a busy week ahead, as she's due to attended Tuesday's opening of a new gallery at London's Natural History Museum.
