When Sex and the City finally returns to the air, it will not be sidestepping Covid-19, it has been announced.
And Just Like That, the title of the new series, will bring back Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristen Davis.
Kim Cattrall has been vocal about not wanting to reprise her role in any capacity, so she will not be back for the project.
New York City was essentially a character in its original run, and that will largely be the case during the ten-episode revival.
But this will be a very different city than the one we fell in love with all those years ago.
Parker opened up to Vanity Fair, announcing that Covid-19 will "obviously be part of the storyline, because that’s the city [these characters] live in, and how has that changed relationships once friends disappear? I have great faith that the writers are going to examine it all.

The revival of “Sex and the City” will take place in a New York City that has been through the Covid-19 pandemic and is grappling with the effects of it, Sarah Jessica Parker said of the show.
Parker, who played Carrie Bradshaw for the six-season run of the show on HBO, told Vanity Fair that when the show returns as a limited series on HBO Max, the pandemic will “obviously be part of the storyline.”
“That’s the city [these characters] live in. And how has that changed relationships once friends disappear? I have great faith that the writers are going to examine it all,” Parker said of the series revival.

While specific plotlines for each “Sex and the City” character in the HBO Max revival are unknown, star Sarah Jessica Parker confirmed the limited series will incorporate the Covid-19 pandemic into show.
Speaking to Vanity Fair Friday, the actor said she is eagerly awaiting scripts from showrunner Michael Patrick King, who is leading a writers room that otherwise entirely comprises women.
“It’s incredibly diverse in a really exciting way,” Parker said of the show’s new writers, who will infuse the series with new “life experience, political world views and social world views.”
Parker said writing the coronavirus into the plot was a no-brainer, given that the series’ setting is New York City.

The new Sex and the City miniseries won’t pretend it’s the beforetimes.
Sarah Jessica Parker told Vanity Fair that the pandemic will “obviously be part of the storyline, because that’s the city [these characters] live in. And how has that changed relationships once friends disappear? I have great faith that the writers are going to examine it all.”
The HBO Max miniseries, titled And Just Like That…, will catch up with the characters from the iconic former series. Parker starred in the original series and two movies as sex columnist Carrie Bradshaw, with Cynthia Nixon as attorney Miranda Hobbes and Kristin Davis as marriage and family-oriented gallery director Charlotte York.
Missing in action from the new series is Kim Cattrall, who played Samantha Jones. Cattrall opted out of the new version. The HBO series ran for six seasons from 1998 to 2004, returning for two theatrical-released films in 2008 and 2010.

Although TV revivals continue to be all the rage these days, you really shouldn't hold your breath for an updated version of The Suite Life of Zack & Cody anytime soon. Cole Sprouse was a guest on The Drew Barrymore Show on Tuesday, Jan. 19, where host Drew Barrymore asked him whether he considered the upcoming revival of Sex and the City to actually to be a true revival, given that Kim Cattrall will not be returning as Samantha Jones. Despite the 28-year-old Riverdale star shockingly admitting to not knowing which one is Samantha (blasphemy!), he then offered a thoughtful take on the potential dangers of heading back to the well. He even weighed in on whether he would be open to revisiting...

Sex and the City fans know friendship never goes out of style. But this one seems like it might be so last season. Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis are all set to return for HBO Max's Satc revival, And Just Like That, with each reportedly making $1 million per episode. However, the character that truly brought the "sex" to the series might not be returning. Actress Kim Cattrall, who portrayed the sex-positive Samantha Jones, isn't part of the new show. She offered her subtle explanation by liking a post claiming she is "doing what is best for you" and "putting yourself first." We couldn't help but...

Kim Cattrall is done with the Sex and the City franchise.
That much we've known for a while now.
With the news that the series will return in the form of a limited revival, fans have questioned whether Cattrall's character, Samantha Jones, will be recast.
Fortunately, we have an answer.
Adam Glyn of Youtube page Adam's Apple asked Parker in New York about whether the show would be bringing in a fourth character.
"We're not looking to create a fourth character, we have New York City as a fourth character, and it will be an interesting new character that we are excited about," the actress shared with the Youtuber.
Cattrall is yet to respond about the news of the reboot, but she did like a tweet from a fan about putting herself first and refusing to take part in the show.

Will there be a fab four on the Sex and the City revival amid Kim Cattrall's absence? As of now, in the famed words of Mr. Big, "Abso-f--king-lutely"...not. On Sunday, Jan. 10, it was revealed that the HBO Max sequel series, titled And Just Like That, was in the works and three of the four original stars, lead actress Sarah Jessica Parker, plus Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon, would reprise their characters of Carrie Bradshaw, Charlotte York Goldenblatt and Miranda Hobbes, respectively. Notably absent was Cattrall, who played the fourth member of their quartet, fan-favorite Samantha Jones, on the hit show, which aired between 1998 and 2004,...

Think you know how “Sex and the City” will write off Samantha Jones? Then put your money where your mouth is.
“Sex and the City” will return in the form of a new limited series, “And Just Like That,” with Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker), Charlotte York (Kristin Davis), and Miranda Hobbs (Cynthia Nixon) all set to reprise their iconic roles. But the fourth member of the gal pal group — Kim Cattrall’s Samantha Jones — will not be involved.
Parker has insisted it has nothing to do with the rumored feud between the two actors, telling an Instagram commenter, “Samantha isn’t part of this story. But she will always be part of us. No matter where we are or what we do.” But since the HBO Max announcement, the big question around social media has been exactly what the nature of that absence will be.

The returning stars of Sex and the City are in line to make a wealth of money from the recently announced revival.
According to Variety, Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis will each net more than $1 million per episode for the 10-installment And Just Like That.
What's more, they will also each serve as executive producers on the HBO Max revival.
As previously reported, Kim Cattrall will not return for the revival.
When the original series ended on HBO, Parker reportedly earned considerably more than her co-stars.
“The show doesn’t exist if Sarah Jessica wasn’t the blonde star of the show, that’s number one,” Executive Producer Michael Patrick King once said on the Origins podcast of Parker's bigger paycheck.
“‘Kim was not at the height of her career, Kristin was under her in terms of notability, Cynthia was a theater actress and their contracts reflected that status.

There are many reasons And Just Like That, the forthcoming HBO Max reboot of Sex and the City, is a terrible idea. There’s the fact that the most recent installment of the franchise, Sex and the City 2, was released more than a decade ago, roughly the same time as the Eyjojakfull volcano, or eons ago in internet years. There’s the fact that Sex and the City 2 was critically reviled due to its bloated two-and-a-half-hour run time, inherent Islamophobia, and clunky screenplay featuring such sterling wordplay as “Lawrence of my labia.

More “Sex and the City” is on the way. Sarah Jessica Parker confirmed yesterday that her iconic onscreen counterpart Carrie Bradshaw would reunite with BFFs Miranda Hobbs (Cynthia Nixon) and Charlotte York (Kristin Davis) for an HBO Max limited series titled “And Just Like That…” (Kim Cattrall’s Samantha Jones will not be involved). The “new chapter” will follow the three New Yorkers, now in their 50s, as they continue navigating the ups and downs of relationships, friendships, careers and, of course, sex.
“Sex and the City” went off the air in 2002 after six seasons, but Carrie and company’s story continued with two (very divisive) feature films that premiered in 2008 and 2010. That means it’s been over a decade since fans last saw Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte — so there will be lots to catch up on when “And Just Like That…” graces our TV screens later this year.

As a devoted Sex and the City fan, the news of HBO Max’s upcoming revival should have me feeling as giddy and excited as Charlotte York looking through a bridal magazine. But instead, I’m feeling as skeptical and unenthused as… Samantha Jones looking through a bridal magazine.
I’ve seen every episode of Sex and the City (plus the movies) multiple times, so there’s no doubt I’ll tune in to see more of Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte — and it’s a good sign that Michael Patrick King, who shepherded the show’s golden years, is returning as showrunner.

When Carrie Bradshaw first introduces us to Samantha Jones, it’s as “a New York inspiration.” Carrie describes her as confident to the point of “self-delusion,” and yet throughout “Sex and the City,” it’s very rare to see Samantha fail to get what she wants once she decides it’s worth spending her precious energy. While Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) overthinks her way in and out of relationships, Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) negotiates with herself and her partners, and Charlotte (Kristin Davis) frets about marriage and propriety, Samantha (Kim Cattrall) is mostly just sleeping around and having a great time doing it. That explicit, shame-free sexuality is far more routine for women characters today when it was in 1998, when Samantha’s refusal to censor or restrain herself when it came to sex was a deliberate shock to TV’s system — and for “Sex and the City,” a crucial cornerstone to the series’ success.

Reps for the three actresses and HBO Max did not immediately respond to Variety’s request for comment.

With the news that the Sex and the City revival is coming to HBO Max, fans have been questioning why Kim Cattrall is no longer associated with the series.
In the initial series order announcement of And Just Like That, the new name for the series, Cattrall was not mentioned, seemingly confirming that she would not be reprising the role of Samantha.
The actress previously confirmed she had no intention of returning to the franchise amid claims of a feud between her and co-star Sarah Jessica Parker.
A fan commented on Instagram Cattrall would not be returning because "they dislike each other," prompting Parker to write the following in response.
“No. I don’t dislike her. I’ve never said that. Never would.” the series lead wrote, adding:
”Samantha isnt part of this story. But she will always be part of us. No matter where we are or what we do.

Parker, Davis and Nixon all shared the long-rumored news on Instagram Sunday with a short teaser. The video cuts between footage of New York City and a computer screen, on which the phrases “And just like that…” and “The story continues…” are typed out along with Parker’s signature voiceover.

A Sex and the City reboot is on the cards at HBO Max as a limited series, Deadline has confirmed with sources.
It’s understood that the WarnerMedia-owned platform is working out deals to bring back the classic New York-set fashionista dramedy. We’re hearing that if these deals happen, it’s likely to air as a limited event on streaming platform HBO Max rather than HBO, which aired the original series.
It would mark the latest HBO series to be rebooted after it emerged earlier this month that a True Blood reboot is on the cards and the premium cable network is also bringing back In Treatment.

Carrie Bradshaw and her group of friends may not be getting a third movie, but they are setting their sights on a new season of fun.
Page Six is reporting that HBO Max is near a deal to revive the beloved series, with franchise mainstays Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis, and Cynthia Nixon set to return as Carrie, Charlotte, and Miranda, respectively.
Kim Cattrall is not expected to be involved in any capacity, which makes sense when you think about it.
The actress previously admitted that she declined starring in a third movie, saying in an interview that her response was simply “Thank you, but no.”
Cattrall fielded rumors of her being a diva in the same interview with Piers Morgan and put some of the blame on her former co-stars.
"This is really where I take to task the people from Sex and the City, specifically Sarah Jessica Parker.

That long-gestating third Sex and the City movie may finally be coming to fruition — as a series (and sans a key player).
HBO Max is reportedly near a deal to revive the iconic comedy franchise as a limited series, with leads Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon set to reprise their signature roles as Carrie, Charlotte and Miranda, respectively. Meanwhile, Kim Cattrall — who has been very public about her desire to put the franchise, her co-stars and her character of Samantha, behind her — is not expected to be involved in the quasi-seventh season.

If you look up “guilty pleasure” in the dictionary, you’re likely to find a picture of Kim Cattrall glamorously burning a Southern mansion to the ground, then walking away ever so slowly while whispering, “Rot in hell.”

It’s perhaps surprising Kim Cattrall hadn’t yet headlined a soap opera. As Samantha Jones on “Sex and the City,” her slyness and way with a pun came to be revealed as elegant concealments of the character’s deep need. In later seasons, as the protective shell was stripped away, Cattrall showed a fluency and depth in playing a character whose breakability provided some of the show’s deepest and most satisfying melodrama.
It’s too bad, then, that on “Filthy Rich,” her new Fox drama, Cattrall is never really given the opportunity to dig in. As Margaret Monreaux, the matriarch of a wealthy televangelist family in the American South, Cattrall plays both an iffy Louisiana accent and a sustained note of smooth, assured competence. Despite all manner of family difficulties, Margaret remains both on top of the situation and unruffled to a degree that cuts off all we know Cattrall can do.

Cake isn’t the only thing being served in this shady first look at Kim Cattrall‘s new Fox drama Filthy Rich.
The woman formerly known as Samantha Jones is slipping into a very different role this time around, playing Margaret Monreaux, the grieving widow of a Christian mega mogul. And that grief understandably morphs into righteous anger upon discovering that her husband fathered three children out of wedlock, each with a different woman.

A transformation that would make Samantha Jones swoon! Today, actor Jason Lewis stopped by Channel Seven's The Morning Show on Australian television to discuss his charitable partnership with Best Buddies. However, as Lewis discussed his breakout role on Sex and the City, we could not help but notice the 49-year-old's rugged transformation. As fans of the show surely know, Lewis, who played Kim Cattrall's character's love interest and client Smith Jerrod in the series and films, was best known for his gorgeous, long blond locks and piercing blue eyes. Yet, today, Lewis donned a far more clean-cut and brunette look. On top of some dark scruff and a mustache, Lewis rocked a shorter,...

The last three years have been somber, sobering and not much fun, with only intermittent beams of sunlight. Maybe it’s a coincidence, but the same goes for Our Pathetic Age, DJ Shadow’s first record since before the 2016 election. Shadow’s music has never been overtly political, but rarely has an electronic music collection felt so lashed to the times, intentionally or not.
