Mumbai, March 4 (Ians) Veteran actress Supriya Pathak, who has essayed the iconic character of Hansa in the streaming comedy ‘Khichdi 2: Mission Paanthukistan’, has called ‘Khichdi’ franchise as a prescription and her character as a stressbuster.
She also believes that doing comedy, especially clean comedy, is more complex than other genres.
“Comedy is much harder, and making people laugh is very difficult. I feel that with slapstick and two-layered jokes, you can, but keeping it clean and still making people laugh is very difficult,” she said.
Talking about her character, she says: “‘Khichdi’ is like a prescription, and Hansa is my stressbuster. She is a part of me. It was a challenge to maintain the innocence of Hansa even after so many years. Having said that, I believe Hansa’s character acts as a reminder that one doesn’t have to be so bitter and it’s not difficult to...

I’m sure there is a decent following for the Jd Majethia-Aatish Kapadia brand of comedy / humour. But then the following could be for the generation who loved watching ‘Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai’ then and binge watching now too (like this author) and even ‘Khichdi’ when it aired as a sitcom. In 2010 the producer director took the plunge and scaled Khichdi from a sitcom to ‘Khichdi: The Movie’. Guess it was still fine when the population had little choice.
Cut to 2023, more than a decade after the ‘Khichdi’ first installment, things have changed dramatically, the audience who were young then have grown older. The youth of today is exposed to enormous amount of content available from across the globe in all the genres, then what tempted the makers to dish out a two hour feature length film with such a wierd title ‘Khichdi 2: Mission Paanthukhistan’.

In the series, Atul plays the role of Ramesh Dholakia, a responsible son of Mansukhlal and Hemlata Dholakia, who is always looking out for everyone’s best interests.
The actor said, “I always look forward to working with the new generation of actors, writers, directors and technicians. And I just loved that part of my time on the sets of ‘Happy Family’. The new generation is very empowered today. Information and freedom has given them a lot of confidence. And that’s a great thing. They respect people for who they are, more than just for their age. That’s why I always say that they have an equality complex.”

However, she said that this time her character Hemlata is going to be completely different from Maya Sarabhai.
She shared: “Hemlata is a complicated character to play, it’s not easy as Maya Sarabhai, it’s also not one dimensional so it definitely was a challenge, when Atish narrated and as the episode progressed the character too was having a good graph, the both character of Hemlata and Maya are outspoken in their own completely different ways, And I hope this character works out she is not smooth but yet she is charming.”

Happy Family, Conditions Apply(Prime)
Directed by Aatish Kapadia, Jamnadas Majethia
Dysfunctional families are the new functional. Coincidentally the feature film Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar and the series Happy Family, Conditions Apply released this week, share an affinity for the joint family, creaky joints and all, not to mention their lengthy V. Shantaram styled titles.
Happy Family is a strange animal. It infuriates and amuses, exasperates and endears itself provided you stay non-judgemental about the borderline obsessive characters as well as about the content which gives them a freeflowing movement that frequently makes them look foolish.
Part of our mixed feelings come from the fact that the characters, each so sharply written you feel you know him or her (although you don’t really want to), are like that: highly annoying and fixated in their opinions. None more so than Hemlata Dholakia, played smirkingly by the magnificent Ratna Pathak Shah...

Actress Ayesha Jhulka, who plays Pallavi in the soon to be released webseries ‘Happy Family: Conditions Apply’, has a comic side to her personality and it’s the prime reason she chose to say yes to the project.
The series revolves around a joint family of four generations, which are divided by their divergent eccentric personalities but are united by their bonding with each other, and how their differences often lead to hilarious situations.
Talking about doing a comedy and playing both a ‘saas’ (mother-in-law) and a ‘bahu (daughter-in-law), the actress said, “After back to back serious shows, it felt great to do a comedy. I just felt that Happy Family: Conditions Apply was a very welcoming change in my life. In real life I’m quite a comic character and I like my life to be lighter in all aspects. Hence, I thought this is a very interesting character and I should do it.

??What is the concept of the show Bhakharwadi?
The basic concept of this show is that there is a Marathi family, that believes in certain principles and doesn?t change according to time. On the other hand, there is a Gujarati family that believes in modernization and progressive thinking. So, it?s mainly about two families with different ideologies and the subsequent circumstances
??Something about your character- Mahendra Thakkar
Mahendra Thakkar is a modern Gujarati man who is very jolly. In this show, we don?t portray him as a stereotypical Gujarati that is usually presented on television, we are trying to keep it more relatable. I have done Gujarati characters a lot of times. Aatish has given different shades to my character in Bhakharwadi and the viewers are going to enjoy watching it as I am enjoying doing it.
?How has the experience been so far, shooting on the set of Bhakharwadi?...

After a really thrilling opener set to Marilyn Manson's "The Beautiful People" (choreographed by Tabitha and Napoleon?! What?!), we get to finding out which ill-fated foursome will be packing their bags on So You Think You Can Dance. But in a strange turn of events, every couple will perform before the elimination is announced, which means that whichever unlucky couples ship out will have hit the stage for nothing. This week's rankings:
1) Janaya & Brandon (last week: 4) have to get hip to Shawn Cheesman's Broadway to Linda Eder's "Bring On The Men", and I am obsessed with this number. Janaya could have used slightly more grit, but this is the first number of the entire season that I needed to watch again. New Delhi, Oct 12 – Writer-director Aatish Kapadia, who won appreciation from critics for tickling audiences’ funny bones with his directorial debut ‘Khichdi-The Movie’, feels comedy has become vulgar.
The film, the big screen version of Kapadia’s hit comic serial ‘Khichdi’, retained the essence of the characters and the only change one found was that the fun elemets were upgraded for the big screen viewers.
‘Comedy has getting vulgar nowadays. A lot of double meaning dialogues are being used due to which.
