You know what, man? We just cannot get tired of John Carpenter's The Thing. We'll take it in every way shape and form as long as its heart is in the right place and it celebrates the experience of the ultimate in alien terror.
Cruising around YouTube we came across the following music video from Jon Kaplan and Al Kaplan, who also brought the world Conan the Barbarian: The Musical and Silence! The Musical.
Hats off to the Kaplans. Job well done. The Thing was performed by Nick Amado. Enough talk ... go ahead. Watch it. Just try not tapping your foot. It's friggin' impossible. Crank up the volume and let her rip!
"I'm The Thing, Baby!" Glorious!

Four days from now we'll have our chance to see if The Thing prequel to John Carpenter's The Thing -- wait, now I'm confused....
Let me start that again. The new Thing movie is opening four days from today. The old Thing movie, the one released in 1982 which tells what happens after the events in the 2011 Thing movie -- both movies are called The Thing -- this new movie, it's...
Aw, crap. Why did they have to call both movies The Thing?
Ok, look, here's what I'm trying to say: the two guys that made musicals out of Conan the Barbarian and Rocky IV have released their latest YouTube creation and it's a song like the kind ol' blue eyes himself used to sing. I bet that you thought you could get through your life without someone creating a song tribute to the 1982 The Thing done in the style of Frank Sinatra.

The jury is in, the new Fright Night, starring Anton Yelchin, Colin Farrell and David Tennant, is probably the best remake we’ve seen of a classic genre movie. Now, that’s not an endorsement for Hollywood to go crazy with more remakes (The Three Stooges I’m looking at you). However, this “other” new Fright Night remake is pretty amazing as well. It’s a 3:35 edit of the original movie, remixed with lyrics and music by Jon Kaplan and Al Kaplan. It’s called Fright Night: The Musical (“Amy, Awake!”). The voices of Jerry Dandridge, Peter Vincent, Charlie and Evil Ed are performed by Al Kaplan. Check out the music video below and if you are a horror fan (or just a fan of undead, supernatural or sci-fi movies) be sure to check out the Fight Night in theaters this week. It’s worth the ticket.
