Erik Feig’s Picturestart and podcast studio Meet Cute are partnering on ice skating audio series Fire & Ice, executive produced by Olympian Nancy Kerrigan.
The project is also executive produced by Lindy Goldstein through her Lindy Goldstein Productions banner and follows skating champions who must navigate romance and rivalry, while trying to achieve their dreams on the Olympic stage.
Chiara Aurelia (Cruel Summer) and Jack Martin (La Brea) lend their voices to the audio series, along with Kennedy Holmes (The Voice), Laura Schein, Clayton Farris, Ashley Eskew, Yuriy Sardarov, Kendall Johnson, Sydney Battle, Kathleen Leary, Jenni Barber, Gabe Greenspan and Scott Golden. The series is directed and produced by Eskew.
Picturestart, Kerrigan and Goldstein have been developing a feature film adaptation of Fire & Ice written by Ashleigh Powell, who is known for Disney’s The Nutcracker and the Four Realms. Meet Cute will be an executive producer on that project.

“Thank you to the voters in the TV academy, thank you mom and dad, you nurtured what I had in me. Dennis Lehane, Taron Egerton, your talent can move boulders. If I look tall it’s cause I’m standing on both of their shoulders,” rapped out Paul Walter Hauser starting one of the most unusual Emmy acceptance speeches of the night for Black Bird.
He’s taking home the award for Best Supporting Actor in a Limited Or Anthology Series or Movie for his super creepy great nuanced performance as serial killer Larry Hall on the Apple TV+ show. Also unconventional, Hauser was crunching on something in his seat when they called his name and still chewing when he took the stage.

I remember the day — March 4, 1994 — when I learned that John Candy, big of heart and large of funny bone, had died from an apparent heart attack at age 43. I was a movie critic and a film writer in the Life section of USA Today, distracted by the Winter Olympics TV coverage of Nancy Kerrigan’s silver medal comeback. But the minute I heard that one of the warmest and funniest actors around had passed away, I poured myself immediately into writing his appreciation.
As someone who grew up in Buffalo, I was lucky to have early access to “Sctv,” the Canadian sketch-comedy counterpart to “Saturday Night Live,” long before the series was picked up by NBC. I was cued into the genius of Candy and his clowning cohorts Eugene Levy, Catherine O’Hara, Joe Flaherty, Andrea Martin, Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas as they inhabited sundry out-sized characters who worked at a fictitious television station.

Before Margot Robbie was Barbie, she was Harley Quinn, Naomi Lapaglia, Tonya Harding, and many more characters. There's no doubt Robbie loves her job as an actor, and while tackling the role of an iconic children's toy wasn't initially on her career bucket list, it's clear she's happy she took a chance with the role.
A month before the highly anticipated July 2023 release of "Barbie," Robbie spoke to Vogue about how playing the role never even crossed her mind. "It wasn't that I ever wanted to play Barbie, or dreamt of being Barbie, or anything like that," she explained. "This is going to sound stupid, but I really didn't even think about playing Barbie until years into developing the project."
And while "Barbie" might arguably be Robbie's most hyped-up movie in her career so far, it's by no means the only role she's slayed. Take a look back at Robbie's best movies below.

The 1990s were a different time in Hollywood, and it’s worth wondering how one of the most controversial movies ever made became both a box office hit and cultural touchstone. Indeed, the lurid American crime spree depicted in Oliver Stone’s Natural Born Killers has remained a haunting fever dream lodged firmly in the collective consciousness over the past three decades despite public outcries and attempts to ban the film. The themes of Americans’ obsession with violence as magnified through mass media have only gotten more topical since the movie’s release, but the production itself was grueling and the movie elicited major post-release outrage.
Let’s get all riled up and find out Wtf Happened to this Movie!
Natural Born Killers came from a screenplay written by Quentin Tarantino, with a story focusing on a man and woman who get married and go on a cross-country killing spree.

When you think of your typical “SNL” host, you probably imagine movie stars, television actors or music personalities. But did you know more than 30 athletes have hosted NBC’s late night sketch comedy series over the past five decades? Indeed, all of the biggest names in sports have graced Studio 8H for a night of laughs and gags, including Bill Russell, John Madden, Wayne Gretzky, Michael Jordan and Dwayne Johnson.
While the vast majority of hosts from the world of sports have been male, three female athletes have also entertained audiences: Chris Evert, Nancy Kerrigan and Ronda Rousey. The most recent addition to the list was Super Bowl champion Travis Kelce, who took his turn as emcee in March 2023. When I, Tonya, hit theatres in 2017, viewers and critics everywhere were divided. Some people enjoyed Margot Robbie‘s performance as the disgraced ice skater Tonya Harding. In contrast, many people in the ice skating community felt the show painted Harding in an undeservedly good light.
I, Tonya, took some liberties with the storyline, but the dark comedy tried its best to stick to the real events. For instance, Harding’s mom really did wear a wire to trap her daughter, like in I, Tonya.

In acting classes, you are often asked to choose an animal that embodies the characteristics you want to bring to the character you're playing. It can help find the right movements, the correct way to react to something like, say, being cornered, or bring an extra layer of depth to a portrayal. Not every actor uses this technique, but it can be very useful in fleshing out a role.
Margot Robbie, who stars as aspiring actress Nellie Laroy in the Damien Chazelle-directed film "Babylon" recently visited "The Kelly Clarkson Show" where she told Clarkson that she uses this exercise herself. However, her choice of animals for the character might surprise you.
In the film, Robbie's Nellie is a young woman who knows she was born to be a star. She's a party girl with no inhibitions, a pretty terrible cocaine problem, a need to show off, and a no holds barred approach to life.

The story of Nancy Kerrigan being attacked after a figure skating practice was not an inherently funny one, at the time. The attack was orchestrated by Jeff Gilooly, the then-husband of figure skater Tonya Harding, who also had knowledge of the plan. Kerrigan was attacked by assailant Shane Stant in order to keep her from competing in the United States Figure Skating Championships and the Winter Olympics, though she managed to recover in time for the Olympics.
The story dominated the news cycle at the time. Harding and Gilooly became some of the most hated figures in America for their petty and vengeful attack on Kerrigan. Despite the dark nature of assaulting an athlete with intent to injure, some of the story's absurd details seemed perfect for film adaptation. "I, Tonya" tells the story with a dark humor and heavy use of unreliable narrators, the most prominent of whom are Harding and Gilooly themselves.

Spoiler Alert: Do not read ahead if you have not watched Season 7, Episode 8, of “The Masked Singer,” “The Mask of Least Resistance – Round 3,” which aired April 27 on Fox.
So I guess we’re just gonna pretend that last week didn’t happen and just move on. But Wednesday night’s unmasked celebrity was a bit controversial in her own way: Kirstie Alley, who has generated her own kind of notorious headlines in recent years, was unmasked on this week’s episode as Baby Mammoth — a part of “Team Cuddly.”
For Baby Mammoth, one of the “Masked Singer” panelists got it right: Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg figured out it was Alley. Robin Thicke thought it was Kirsten Dunst, Nicole Scherzinger named Rachael Ray and Ken Jeong guessed Reese Witherspoon.

After seven seasons on the air, “The Masked Singer” is still making history. First a contestant choked on stage, then she stormed off in a diva fit. Now, a costume had to be warned by production not to defecate on camera. Yep, you read that right. “They told me that I could do anything I wanted out here except poop on the stage,” revealed Baby Mammoth during the April 20 episode. “And so I’m gonna take a very big win. Because although you can poop in the circus, you are not allowed on this show.”

By now, most fans know what happened to infamous figure skater Tonya Harding. Of course, for many of the generation who has never witnessed the figure skater during the prime years of her career, most likely, Harding’s mark in pop culture has been marred because of the assault on Nancy Kerrigan. The recent attack was revisited in the movie I, Tonya, where it appeared that Harding wasn’t exactly the culprit behind the crime, but her on-again, off-again ex-husband, Jeff Gillooly was. The infamous assault on Nancy Kerrigan was one of the huge talking points in 1994. To rewind, the popular figure skater was hit in the kneecap with a baton during a final practice before the 1994 U.S. Women’s Championships in Detroit. It was eventually revealed that Shane Stant was hired to take out Kerrigan before the 1994 Olympics. Tonya Harding’s ex, Jeff Gillooly, was the person responsible for hiring the hitman, with Tonya herself not particularly knowing about the incident at play. Still, the figure skater was punished as she did plead guilty to conspiring to hinder the prosecution. She

At its core, "Pam & Tommy" is a classical tragedy — a story about two star-crossed lovers who were destined to crash and burn — but Pamela Anderson is the true tragic heroine of our tale. "Pam & Tommy" is her story, mostly, highlighting the horrible ways she's been treated by just about everyone, from husband Tommy Lee, to lawyers, to the mainstream media. Director Craig Gillespie is no stranger to stories about wronged women, earning acclaim for his 2018 film "I, Tonya," about figure skater Tonya Harding and the fallout of her alleged involvement in the attack on Nancy Kerrigan.

"Why?! Why?!" Screams rang out at around 2:35 p.m. on Jan. 6, 1994, after Nancy Kerrigan's practice session at Detroit's Cobo Hall, which was right next to Joe Louis Arena, site of the U.S. Figure Skating Championships. The tearful cries were coming from Nancy herself. The 24-year-old athlete, due to skate the next night in the ladies short program, had been on her way to the dressing room when a man approached, hit her several times on the right knee with what looked like a pipe or crowbar—"some hard, hard black stick," Kerrigan sobbed—and fled. "Help me!" she yelped. Daniel Kerrigan, Nancy's father, picked up his crying...

The network announced on Thursday that veteran broadcasters Mary Carillo, Andrea Joyce and Jimmy Roberts will once again serve as NBC Olympics commentators this summer in Tokyo. The Opening Ceremony of the 2021 Games is Friday, July 23 on NBC.
Including this summer’s Tokyo Games, the trio will have worked at nearly 50 Olympics. Carillo and Roberts will serve as correspondents in Tokyo, while Joyce serves as a reporter at the gymnastics competition and handles play-by-play for rhythmic gymnastics. Try skiing down a mountain at high speeds, taking a sled through an icy slide, jumping as far as you can and not breaking your legs on a massive ski jump or not breaking your neck by falling on the ice. The best movies set at the Winter Olympics are about the underdogs who risked their lives and surprised the world…and Will Ferrell sliding crotch first across the ice. But they’re still exciting!

Seth Rogen is on board to play the man who stole the tape, with I, Tonya director Craig Gillespie helming the series and Rob Siegel writing. Rogen is also producing the project along with his partner Evan Goldberg through their Point Grey banner along with Dylan Sellers through Limelight,...

“Most overnight successes take about 10 years,” says Paul Walter Hauser as he sits down for one of his first major interviews after the film that has put his name on lips all over Hollywood, Clint Eastwood’s Richard Jewell, has screened for the first time. “That’s what they say. You have to get that kind of mileage before you’re truly ready to take on a Spike Lee or a Clint Eastwood.”

Although many biopics are formulaic enterprises, hitting familiar beats as the subject rises and falls and falls in love and writes that really popular song, they’re a vital element of entertainment industry. Biopics allow filmmakers to humanize our myths, mythologize our contemporaries, re-evaluate history at a fundamentally human level, and catalogue our present so that future generations can understand what the hell we are going through. It’s been an entire decade full of great biopics, too many to fit in a conventional list, but when all is said and done, we have to call these the ten absolutely essential films in the genre from the 2010s.

Netflix released the first trailer for its upcoming figure-skating drama “Spinning Out” on Tuesday, and everybody’s mad.
Led by “The Maze Runner” alum Kaya Scodelario, the series centers on Kat Baker, a high-level figure skater whose career is derailed after a disastrous fall. In an effort to stay in competition, she teams up with bad-boy pairs skater, Justin Davis (Evan Roderick), and risks exposing a fiercely kept secret that has the potential to unravel her entire life.
And judging by the amount of angry glaring between the two in the trailer, it does not go smoothly.
“I’m used to skating alone. I need time to adjust, ” Kat tells her new partner.

Clint Eastwood’s late career has revolved around two categories: There’s the gloves-off, no-apologies strand of Clint as an old man taking back what’s his while learning a lesson along the way, or his agitprop offerings — the ones he usually doesn’t star in — that seek to elevate good, but misunderstood real-life men.
“Richard Jewell” belongs in that latter camp of complicated Eastwood heroes. While the 89-year-old director’s recent films often seem to serve as softer, artistic mea culpas for his controversial ideologies off the set, this time he gets out of his own way with. This muted drama won’t win Eastwood any new fans, but it won’t mar his legacy, either. The film’s low-key approach to a tragic media scandal feels at once timely and old-fashioned — a character study from another era designed to comment on our own.

By many accounts, 1994 was a notable year in the world of media. It was, after all, when Nancy Kerrigan was attacked, the terrorists in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing convicted, Oj Simpson arrested in the murder of his wife and her friend and a Major League baseball strike. But after all of these things came the launches of two series that would go on to change the way small-screen storytelling was developed and discussed for decades to come. The cinematic medical drama “ER” premiered with a two-hour pilot on Sept. 19, 1994, and just days later, the multicamera, half-hour comedy “Friends” followed on Sept. 22, 1994.
Although at first glance, the shows’ genres and formats may seem to set them wildly apart, both boasted ensemble casts of soon-to-be stars, and both had unique, authentic and specific storytelling points of views that stemmed from their creators. “Dancing with the Stars” has been getting dragged online — even by its own host — for its decision to cast former White House press secretary Sean Spicer in season 28. For several months in 2017 it was his job to back up Donald Trump‘s litany of falsehoods and disinformation. Most of the readers we polled aren’t happy about it either, but are they planning to watch anyway, or will they boycott the show in response. Scroll down to see our complete poll results.
Almost two-thirds of our poll respondents (64%) said they’re not happy about Spicer being selected as a contestant on the show. Of those, 28% say they’ll tune into the show anyway. But 36% declare that they refuse to watch it. Another 19% of readers told us that they don’t mind Spicer’s invitation to the ballroom one way or the other. That leaves only 17% who are actually enthusiastic about his participation.

All the speculation over the “Dancing with the Stars” Season 28 cast has been about the celebs, but let’s not forget about the pros. Last week, newlyweds and former champs Jenna Johnson and Val Chmerkovskiy claimed they didn’t know if they would return for the upcoming fall installment, but, as the show is finalizing the cast and preparing to fly everyone out to New York for the big reveal on “Good Morning America,” it appears like one longtime pro won’t be part of it: Artem Chigvintsev.
On Friday, the former “Strictly Come Dancing” champ gushed on Instagram about his girlfriend and Season 25 partner, Nikki Bella, and said she was “the good ending to a bad day and the best start to a new day.” Aw, so cute.

Paul Walter Hauser has landed the title role in Clint Eastwood’s Warner Bros. movie Richard Jewell.
Hauser will play the security guard whose life was turned upside down after it was leaked by law enforcement to a reporter that Jewell was a possible suspect in the Olympic Park bombing during the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. Sam Rockwell was announced as Jewell’s lawyer earlier this week.
Jewell is a role that graduates Hauser from supporting actor to leading man after notable parts in Mindy Kaling’s Amazon Studios movie Late Night (currently in theaters, going wide this weekend), Spike Lee’s Oscar-winning BlackKklansman last year and as I, Tonya‘s dim Shawn Eckardt who was an accomplice in injuring Tonya Harding’s rival Nancy Kerrigan.

U.S. figure skater Mariah Bell has had it up to here with the haters blaming her for South Korean rival Lim Eun-soo's injury. During a warm-up at the World Championships last week, Bell, 22, skated past the 16-year-old, made contact and left her with a slashed leg. Lim received medical attention and was able to compete while wearing a bandage. She finished fifth, while Bell came in sixth. The International Skating Union (Isu) ruled that the incident, which brought back memories of the Tonya Harding-Nancy Kerrigan feud in the '90s, was an accident. Meanwhile, Bell and her loved ones have received a slew of nasty comments about the ordeal on social...

A majority of “Dancing with the Stars” fans wanted the perpetually cursed Keo Motsepe to win Season 27 over four-time finalist Sharna Burgess, but now that she got her Mirrorball, you don’t think Motsepe is the most overdue pro. Nope, 38 percent of you think that title now belongs to Sasha Farber.
Farber, who was eliminated in ninth place this season with Mary Lou Retton, has been on six seasons, first appearing as a pro in Season 17. One of the most easygoing pros, he posted his best finish with Tonya Harding in third place on Season 26. His best chance at a win, however, was arguably with Simone Biles in Season 24, but the pair was shockingly axed in the semifinal. His wife, Emma Slater, ended up winning that season with Rashad Jennings, and you know the show would like to have three pro couples who’ve won Mirrorballs.
Motsepe grabbed 34 percent of the vote.

Sharna Burgess finally won “Dancing with the Stars” with a partner she probably never expected to win with, Bobby Bones, and that means the 12-season veteran and former four-time finalist can at long last shed her bridesmaid status. So to whom does that label go next? Of the current cast, four pros have been on at least five seasons and they all just so happen to be dudes. This makes sense since Burgess was the only female pro who hadn’t won on Season 27 and Val Chmerkovskiy was the only male pro who had won. So which of these four guys would you like to see win next?
The “oldest” of these four, in terms of their inaugural seasons, not tenures, is Gleb Savchenko. He made his pro debut in Season 16, along with Burgess and Lindsay Arnold, and finished in 10th place with Lisa Vanderpump. He didn’t return to...

“Dancing with the Stars” isn’t just a dance competition, it’s also a popularity contest. The results each week are determined by combining the judges’ scores with the votes of viewers at home. That’s how low-scoring contestants with passionate fan bases can linger even when more gifted hoofers are given their walking papers. This season radio personality Bobby Bones and “Bachelorette” star Joe Amabile have the potential to fit that bill. But will one of them make it all the way to the finals? Will neither of them? Will (gasp) both of them? Vote in our poll at the bottom of this post.

Neon has acquired worldwide rights to “Sharp Edges,” a 1986 documentary about Tonya Harding competing at the National Figure Skating Championships at the age of 15.
Yale University student Sandra Luckow made the film as part of her senior thesis. It follows Harding going to her first National Figure Skating Championships, where she placed sixth. The movie includes interviews with both Harding and her mother, Lavona Golden.
The documentary provided background for the cast and filmmakers of “I, Tonya” and clips from the film have been licensed over the years in numerous shows ranging from “60 Minutes” to ESPN’s “30 for 30,” and most recently for “20/20’s” “Truth and Lies: The Tonya Harding Story” special.
Neon handled the release of the biopic “I, Tonya,” directed by Craig Gillespie and written by Steven Rogers. It centers on the 1994 attack on her rival Nancy Kerrigan. Margot Robbie (who also produced) stars as Harding and Allison Janney plays Golden.

To mark the release of I, Tonya on 25th June, we’ve been given 3 copies to give away on Blu-ray.

Basking in the glory and relishing in her a new found champion status Tonya seemingly had it all, however as Olympic pressure mounted her life began to unravel. A sold-out crowd at the Largo at the Coronet in Los Angeles got a treat when singer/songwriter Darren Criss’ performance of Laura Branigan’s 1982 hit pop song, “Gloria.” Pounding the keys of an old-fashioned upright piano, the former “Glee” star belted out the first half of the song in Italian to honor both “Gloria’s” songwriter Umberto Tozzi as well as the late 20th-century Italian fashion designer, Gianni Versace.
“American Crime Story” fans are already familiar with Criss’ rendition of the song, as he sang the song in a scene while playing 1990s spree killer and Versace’s murderer, Andrew Cunanan in “The Assassination of Gianni Versace.” The scene has Criss belting out the song to calm his nerves as he drives to his next crime scene in Miami.

Here’s something you probably didn’t think you’d hear a month ago: Tonya Harding is more well-liked than Nancy Kerrigan. At least among our readers. In a recent poll asking which of the two they preferred on “Dancing with the Stars,” Harding skated away with 51 percent of the vote.
Though her casting was met with criticism, Harding made the most of her “Dancing” run, embracing the whole experience, and winning over viewers with her eagerness to learn and her surprisingly adept dance ability. Her exuberant freestyle — to “I Will Survive” — encapsulated her journey on the show, which was basically the living embodiment of “You like me, you really like me!” She came in third place, three standings higher than Kerrigan’s finish in Season 24, and is grateful to America for giving her a second chance.
See Who was better on ‘Dancing with the Stars’: Tonya Harding or Nancy Kerrigan?...
