Sydney, Feb 5 (Ians) Western Australian veteran left-hander Shaun Marsh and Victorian top-order batswoman Elyse Villani were named as respective male and female domestic players of the year by Cricket Australia.
Marsh has been voted by his peers as the Male Domestic Player of the Year Award for the second year running.
The left-handed batsman was the only player to score more than 1,000 runs across the Marsh Sheffield Shield, Marsh Cup and Bbl during the voting period, with 1,058 runs at 46.00, including five 50s and three 100s.
The 37-year-old becomes just the fourth player to win the award on multiple occasions after inaugural winner Darren Lehmann, Michael Klinger and Cameron White.
Marsh said that the players placed an enormous value on the domestic game and this was reflected in their commitment and flexibility to get the game going through the impacts of Covid-19.
"This season is obviously a little bit different to what we're used to.

Klinger said he is leaving the club with a heavy heart but with a view to further developing his professional career in Sydney.
"Although the seasons didn't go to plan, I thoroughly enjoyed my time as head coach and can see a bright future in the coming seasons with such a young and talented group. I wish them all the best for the future," Klinger said in a statement.
"My new role as head of men's cricket with Cnsw is an extremely exciting position. I'm looking forward to this great opportunity working with Greg Mail and their senior squads, pathways and Big Bash programs."

Melbourne, Dec 28 (Ians) South Africa spinner Imran Tahir, who was due to represent Melbourne Renegades in the Big Bash League, has withdrawn from Australia's premier T20 competition due to personal reasons.
His pullout is yet another instance of an international player withdrawing from the Bbl this season as it comes in the wake of Covid-19 pandemic. England's Tom Curran (Sydney Sixers) and Tom Banton (Brisbane Heat) had earlier pulled out due to biosecurity bubble fatigue.
Steve Smith, who is currently involved in the ongoing Test series against India too said he won't be playing any games this season. Jonny Bairstow had to withdraw due to international call-up.
"Unfortunately, Imran is not coming for personal reasons," said Michael Klinger, the Melbourne Renegades coach.
"He's a great player so it is a loss. But at the same time we've seen (15-year-old) Noor Ahmad a couple of games ago, a bowler who people haven't seen that much,...

Timeless Media have released the epic 1976 adventure film Shout at the Devil as a Blu-ray/DVD combo pack. The movie, produced by Michael Klinger and directed by Peter Hunt, is an big budget affair very much in the style of John Huston's The Man Who Would Be King, which was released the previous year. Both films follow the antics of a couple of charismatic rogues in exotic settings. The film is based on the novel by author Wilbur Smith, who also co-wrote the screenplay. The movie was shot in between Roger Moore's second and third James Bond films, The Man With the Golden Gun and The Spy Who Loved Me and boasts a "who's who" of Eon Productions talent. Peter Hunt had edited the early Bond films and directed On Her Majesty's Secret Service. Ironically, Moore and Hunt never worked on a 007 film together but in...

Although Hammer Films will always be associated with British horror, the studio did have stiff competition. Amicus specialised in the successful horror anthologies and Us counterparts American International Pictures established a permanent UK base in the mid sixties. Other smaller independents took their own bite from the cherry tree of horror with some success, the best known being Tigon Films.
Tigon has received some belated recognition in recent years. Andy Boot’s book on British horror Fragments of Fear devotes a chapter to the company while John Hamilton’s excellent book Beast in the Cellar covers the varied career of Tigon’s charismatic founder Tony Tenser.
Like Hammer’s Sir James Carreras, Tenser was one of the British Film Industry’s great entrepreneurs. Born in London to poor Lithuanian immigrants and a movie fan since childhood, he was an ambitious man with a natural talent for showmanship. Combining shrewd business...
