Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is about to return for its seventh and final season, but before it goes, it has some business to wrap up. Namely, its ties to the wider McU. Back in the day, AoS was closely connected to the events of the movies, with season 1 memorably dealing with the fallout of Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Over the years, though, it’s gone down its own path. Season 6, for instance, completely avoided dealing with The Snap of Avengers: Infinity War/Endgame.
Seeing as Coulson and the team are heading back into the past in season 7, you might have expected this year to follow suit and skip over The Blip. However, someone who works on the show has dropped a major tease that it will link up with Infinity War/Endgame before it ends. Back in March, VFX supervisor Mark Kolpack responded to a fan on Twitter who was...

Announcing the nominees for their 16th annual Ves Awards, the Visual Effects Society brought welcome news for Denis Villeneuve’s “Blade Runner 2049” and Matt Reeves’s “War for the Planet of the Apes,” each up for seven statuettes. “Despicable Me 3” is the most-nominated animated film of the year (5), while the most-honored title overall is “Game of Thrones” (11).
The 21-year-old organization consists of 3,400-plus members in 35 nations. Each year, it recognizes visual effects innovators in film, animation, television, commercials, and video games.
In 2017, Disney’s “The Jungle Book” remake claimed five Ves trophies, more than any other feature (nominations leader “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” was shutout). It’s director-producer, Jon Favreau, will receive this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award; Weta Digital director and four-time Oscar winner Joe Letteri will accept the Georges Méliès Award, named for the late French illusionist and filmmaker. When it was first revealed that Ghost Rider was coming to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., one of the biggest concerns among fans was whether or not a character like that could be effectively portrayed with a TV budget. After all, the Spirit of Vengeance needs to be brought to life with special effects, and those often aren’t the best in even the most expensive of shows.
Thankfully, one thing everyone can agree on is that Ghost Rider was looking great in the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season four premiere. While his inclusion in the ABC series didn’t result in a massive ratings surge like expected, he’s still been widely praised despite not being the version of the anti-hero (Johnny Blaze) that most comic book fans were hoping to see debut in the McU.

The season 4 premiere of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. saw the debut of our first small screen incarnation of Ghost Rider, and most fans seemed to think the character was translated successfully. Robbie Reyes (Gabriel Luna) and Quake (Chloe Bennet) will clash again next week, so be sure to tune into the "Meet The Boss" episode for their rematch. Lash has been a formidable foe on "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." this season but no one expected him to be a member of S.H.I.E.L.D. At first, Lash seemed like a fully formed in Inhuman, but when Daisy (Chloe Bennet) saw Lash transform into a man, everyone began to wonder who he really was. No one was prepared to discover that this violent Inhuman was really Melinda May's husband Andrew, played by Blair Underwood. The first time his transformation was shown on screen it looked terrifying. Blair's performance really made it seem like a monster was growing out of his body. The video below features "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." visual effects supervisor Mark Kolpack, who is responsible for creating the seamless transitions Andrew experiences as he transforms into Lash. Blair Underwood joins him in the video and together they discuss the combination they've created of visual effects, practical effects,...

For a full two years, Ming-Na Wen could only wonder why her character on Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. had earned the nickname “The Cavalry” – and why hearing that moniker was invariably met with a disapproving glare.
“Since the beginning, I had to create my own ideas and my own stories [behind the nickname],” the actress told TVLine before heading out to the Los Angeles screening of The Avengers: Age of Ultron, “because they wouldn’t tell me anything!”

(Cbr) Spoiler Warning: This article contains major spoilers for the freshly aired "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." first season finale, "Beginning of the End," and the show up to this point as a whole. "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." has reached the finish line for its first season -- and, following last week's renewal news, it's more like a victory lap. Not that Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg's) team look entirely like winners at the outcome of the season finale, "Beginning of the End." Sure, the forces of evil led by a supercharged (and superbly unhinged) John Garrett (Bill Paxton) have been defeated, thanks in part to the intercession of a newly thinking-for-himself Deathlok (J. August Richards) and help from off-the-grid, presumed dead, former S.H.I.E.L.D. director Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), plus the traitorous Ward (Brett Dalton) is now in custody, thanks...

Today was a busy day for some of the smaller guilds with the Visual Effects Society, the Cinema Audio Society, and the Makeup and Hairstylists Guilds all announcing their nominations for 2013.
First, we have the Ves, whose main category to look at is “Outstanding Visual Effects in a Visual Effects-Driven Feature Motion Picture,” where we find Gravity and four other nominees that are just going to have to be happy with the fact that they got nominated. This is perhaps the easiest category to call in the entirety of awards season, and I don’t mean just here, but for the Oscar as well (Last year’s winner, Life of Pi, easily took this category before going on to claim the Oscar). It’s true that films like The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug and Star Trek Into Darkness had outstanding effects as well, but nothing even came close to the amazing,...
