Let’s jump back to the year 2020, infamously known now as the year of Covid-19. One Friday morning, I’m at home, doing my work, when I get a phone call from Australia, with the voice on the other side of the line being unmistakable. Ah yes, that accent that all my childhood friends and I imitated as we called each other “mate” and said, “that’s not a knife – that’s a knife.” It was none other than Paul Hogan, who was promoting his film, The Very Excellent Mr. Dundee, which was kind of a mockumentary starring Hogan as himself getting “cancelled” on the eve of his knighting. Jacob Elordi from Euphoria played his son. The movie wasn’t great, but Hogan himself was amazing to talk to, with him chatting with me much longer than he had to, telling me stories, such as when he was hiking in...

Years before he flaunted his versatility in "The Doors," "Tombstone" and "Heat," it appeared as though Val Kilmer was going to be one of Hollywood's go-to comedy stars. Though David Zucker, Jim Abrahams and Jerry Zucker's "Top Secret!" flopped at the box office in 1984, those who were wise enough to rush out and catch it walked away impressed with the actor's ability to deadpan one moment and switch on his rockstar swagger the next. He followed that up the next year with an immensely appealing performance as troublemaking genius Chris Knight in Martha Coolidge's hysterical "Real Genius."
Kilmer's arrival was as sudden as it was welcome. Unlike many stars, he hadn't paid his dues via two-line roles in schlocky exploitation flicks or sitcoms. He just showed up, and we instantly adored him. If you had to guess, you figured he'd studied improv at Second City or The Groundlings.

Many of the movies John Carpenter has directed are frequently mentioned as some of the greatest genre movies ever made… but there are also Carpenter movies that don’t get referenced very often. One that you rarely hear about is his Village of the Damned (watch it Here), based on the John Wyndham novel The Midwich Cuckoos and a previous film adaptation that was released in 1960. We decided it’s time to give Carpenter’s Village of the Damned some attention, and you can find out what we had to say about it in the new episode of our video series The Black Sheep. Check it out in the embed above!
Village of the Damned has the following synopsis:
Ten months after the small California town of Midwich was struck by a mysterious event during which everyone in the village fell unconscious at once, 10 local women give birth on the same day.

Whether it’s because of endless delays, fan demands, a director’s passion project or a cash grab reboot that seemingly no one ever actually wanted, Hollywood has produced an enormous amount of sequels to beloved films full decades after they originally hit theaters. Some of them have been wildly successful with critics and audiences, and others we’re just pretending never existed. Here are some of the sequels that took forever to hit the screen.
“Bad Boys For Life” (2020)
There had been talk for years about getting the boys back together, and the reunion finally happened this year, with Will Smith and Martin Lawrence teaming up for one last ride. This time however Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah are taking over directing duties from Michael Bay.
George Miller took nearly 30 years to follow up “Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome” with the Tom Hardy-Charlize Theron thriller “Mad Max: Fury Road.

Crocodile Dundee star Paul Hogan is getting candid about his two marriages.
The actor, 79, spoke about his life on a recent episode of ABC TV’s Australian Story where he admitted, “I’m not a great husband. I’m good early.”
Over the course of the interview, Hogan recalled how he met his first wife Noelene Edwards while working as a lifeguard at a swimming pool.

This is one of those cases in which you recognize the celebrity but don’t know where they’ve gone or what they’ve done for so long. Linda Kozlowski was at one time a very prominent actress on the big screen and Crocodile Dundee was a big part of that. Her role in the movie brought her a lot of fame and recognition since she was the love interest of the main character and a strong female lead at the same time. However her run in show business didn’t last nearly as long as some since she decided to be on her

Is this for real or not? We haven’t got a clue. But, for now, it looks like Thor himself, Chris Hemsworth, has joined Danny McBride in the ‘film’, Dundee.
Last week, we were treated to a teaser trailer featuring comedian McBride as Brian Dundee, the long-lost American son of Mick Dundee (Paul Hogan). In the newest trailer, Hemsworth show’s up as Wally Jr. – the son of John Meillon’s Walter ‘Wally’ Reilly and Mick’s oldest friend in the original films – waiting to pick up ‘Dundee’ and can’t quite believe his eyes.
Hemsworth’s character is described as the heir to his father’s outback tour company: “This expert outdoorsman prides himself on knowing all the is to know about the land down under. But even he will have his hands full keeping his new American friend out of trouble.”

There was a third Crocodile Dundee film? Really? Was Crocodile Dundee In Los Angeles any good?
Yes there was. Honestly, yes. No, not particularly.
I think we might have all been understating the cultural importance of the film Crocodile Dundee. It’s sort of mandatory that you do, I think, if you value your sanity. In 1986, when the film came out, it was a massive success at the box office. It grossed $174m in the Us, making it the second highest grossing film of the year, taking just $2m less than Top Gun. The films writers, including Paul Hogan, were nominated for an Oscar. As much as I think Crocodile Dundee is a fun film, that’s a lot to take in.
In the 1980s, the box office charts looked different to the charts of today. Where now multiplex listings are dominated by brands and superhero films with wince-inducing budgets,...

What was allowed in 1986 is cringeworthy today
Two movies I loved as a child celebrated their 30th anniversaries recently, and when I looked back upon them nostalgically, as one does, I saw products of their time that mostly hold up — save for one horribly dated, unforgivable element each. The kind of offense that makes it hard to still appreciate the movie when that one inexcusable part dominates your mind.
Both “Crocodile” Dundee and Short Circuit have decent scripts. The former was even nominated for an Oscar. The latter remains quotable. Their main characters are major figures of 1980s pop culture. Not on the level of Arnold Schwarzenegger and E.T., but higher up than Yakov Smirnoff and The Noid. But I can no longer enjoy these movies. Not as they are, anyway.
Their respective crimes are things that shouldn’t have even been tolerated at the time. In Dundee it’s a scene where Paul Hogan’s titular...

I have a shaky relationship with Village of the Damned. On the one hand, it’s a pretty piss-poor movie in a lot of ways. It has a lot going against it. It’s a remake, the acting is ludicrous, and some of the decisions made by the characters are just mind-numbing. On the other hand, it is a John Carpenter movie, and as we’ve all learned by this point — with the exception of The Ward — even a bad John Carpenter movie is better than a lot of filmmakers’ good movies. So yes, it’s a ridiculous movie, and yes, it’s really easy to get a group of friends together, and throw this on for the purpose of laughing at it, and yes, this movie turns Christopher Reeve — a man famous to most of us because of his portrayal of Superman, humanity’s symbol of hope — into a...

It's almost September, which means a whole new slew of titles on Netflix! August proved pretty lucrative on the quality title front, but it looks as though September it's going to blow the rundown out of the water.

The couple—who met and fell in love after costarring in the 1986 hit comedy—will now have to go about divvying up their marital assets after selling their Malibu mansion last month to fellow Aussie Chris Hemsworth. Paul is reportedly worth...

Paul Hogan and wife Linda Kozlowski recently walked the red carpet for the G'Day USA Los Angeles Black Tie Gala and the "Crocodile Dundee" co-stars have made some headlines -- Kozlowski is looking quite different from how she used to look.
The above picture is from the January 2013 gala. Below is Kozlowski in (from left) 2012, 2004, 2001, 2000 and in the original "Crocodule Dundee" movie in 1986. The Daily Mail writes that the couple's 19-year age gap is starting to show.
What do you think? Does Kozlowski look better than ever? Or is it a case of plastic surgery gone bad?...

"Tell him I love him," Sue Charlton (Linda Kozlowski) told a random New Yorker, a message to relay across a crowded Grand Central Station to her paramour, Mick Dundee (Paul Hogan). "I love you! I love you!" the passenger exclaimed, prompting the Australian adventurer to cancel his plans to return to the outback and use the shoulders of several passengers on the packed platform as a bridge to get to his ladylove.

It's been 27 years since "Crocodile Dundee" came out in theaters -- and Mick and Sue are still together!Costars-turned-real life couple Linda Kozlowski and Paul Hogan hit the red carpet this weekend at the G'Day USA Black Tie Gala on Saturday night in Los Angeles ... and showed how much they've changed since the 1986 flick. The two, who met on the set of the first movie and married in 1990, still looked like one loving couple as Paul embraced his wife ... just like he did in a 1986 promo pic for the movie (above left). And they weren't alone on the carpet. Joining them was the couple's teenage son, Chance (below left). Both Paul and Linda have kept relatively low profiles since they costarred in the box office bomb "Crocodile Dundee in Los Angeles" back in 2001.See how some other manly men of the '80s and '90s have changed through the years in the gallery above!

While she’s best known as an actress (Before Sunrise, represent!), Julie Delpy has, in recent years, been making the transition to becoming a writer/director as well. Probably her best known work so far is her 2007 relationship comedy Two Days in Paris, which was kind of a comedy of manners where Delpy’s character and her boyfriend (Adam Goldberg) went to Paris to visit her crazy family and have some uncomfortable run-ins with her ex-boyfriends. 2 Days in New York seems to be a sequel in the classic sense. It tells basically the exact same story, except in reverse. This time the crazy family and the awkward ex-boyfriend are coming to New York to visit her and her new boyfriend (Chris Rock). It’s kind of like how Linda Kozlowski was first shocked by Crocodile Dundee’s Outback home and then Crocodile Dundee was shocked by her New York home. Kind...

Paul Hogan has claimed that his wife Linda Kozlowski is "too good" for him. The Australian actor, who married Kozlowski 25 years ago after they met as the leading stars in Crocodile Dundee, said that she looks "absolutely gorgeous" since she dyed her hair darker and shed some weight on a strict exercise regime. Hogan told Woman's Day magazine: "She's always been too good for me and now it's even worse. She is absolutely gorgeous. She knocks my socks off - she really does. But the only problem is, with her looking like that, no-one is asking me about my gorgeous figure!" Kozlowski said that she has lost weight through dancing, saying: "I feel so happy when I dance and it has really helped me get in shape. I would say to any woman who is looking to get in her best shape, 'Put on some music and just dance (more...

You can't beat a good knife scene. Here are some of the sharpest moments in cinema, from the knife-fighting of "The Hunted" to the knife-throwing of "Gangs of New York" to the naked bathhouse brawling (involving knives) in "Eastern Promises." Oh, and 'Crocodile' Dundee is around here somewhere, too.

"'Crocodile' Dundee" (1986)
The knife joke in "Crocodile Dundee" provides one of the movie's biggest laughs, as Mick Dundee (Paul Hogan) and his American sweetie (Linda Kozlowski) are confronted on the mean streets of '80s New York City by a perfectly costume-designed thug with a switchblade who demands our hero's wallet. Kozlowski vies for an Oscar here with her super-intense "Mick. Give him your wallet. He's Got a Knife." "That's not a knife," says the mighty hunter, and... well, you know the rest. Just kids havin' fun.

Actor Paul Hogan is not allowed to leave Australia until he pays a disputed multi-million dollar tax bill, Popeater.com reported on August 26. His lawyer, Andrew Robinson, announced the news, saying that after Hogan arrived in Sydney on August 20 to attend his mother’s funeral, he was immediately served with an Australian Taxation Office order. Hogan, most remembered for his role in the ‘Crocodile Dundee’ trilogy, currently resides in Los Angeles. The order is “absolutely devastating” for his wife, his ‘Dundee’ co-star Linda Kozlowski, and their 12-year-old son Chance, Robinson added, saying the two are still in L.A. Australian tox and crime authorities have been fighting Hogan for the past five years, [...]...

Paul Hogan was in Australia for his mother's funeral when order was issued over disputed tax bill
Crocodile Dundee star, Paul Hogan, has been barred from leaving Australia until he pays a disputed tax bill, his lawyer said today.
The 70-year-old actor, who lives in Los Angeles and first gained an international profile with his cheerful offer to "slip an extra shrimp on the barbie" in Australian tourism TV ads in the mid 1980s, arrived in Sydney last week to attend the funeral of his mother, Florence Hogan.
Hogan was served with an Australian Taxation Office order after landing last Friday that prevents him from leaving the country until he settles a multimillion dollar tax bill, lawyer Andrew Robinson said.
"These may not be the appropriate circumstances to effectively make Paul a prisoner of Australia," Robinson told Australian Broadcasting Corp radio.

Paul Hogan could be ordered to stay in Australia for a few years, his lawyer has claimed. The Crocodile Dundee star, who lives in La with wife Linda Kozlowski and 12-year-old son Chance but recently returned to his home country for his mother's funeral, has been told that he has to remain there until his ongoing tax dispute with the Australian Tax Office is resolved. Andrew Robinson told The Daily Telegraph: "[He] could potentially be stuck in Australia for years. It is not looking good; this is a very serious order [from the tax office]. Paul Hogan and his wife Linda Kozlowski have turned up in his native Australia for the holiday season. Hogan's appearance in photos drew comments about age having caught up with him. The actor is 70, while Linda, an American with whom he met on the set of Crocodile Dundee in 1986, is 51. They have a 10-year-old son, Chance. A Sydney newspaper said Hoges appeared 'exhausted' after a busy and stressful year. Hogan has long been based in the Us along with business partner John Cornell. The pair are embroiled in a battle with the Australian taxman over allegations of funnelling money to offshore havens. Holidaying in Byron Bay in New South Wales, Hogan treated his...
