Blink-182’s track “Aliens Exist” could easily be the tagline for band member Tom DeLonge’s directorial debut “Monsters of California.”
DeLonge co-wrote the script with Ian Miller and Ben Kull, with the plot centering on a high schooler looking to find his missing father who works for a secret government program. The action-comedy stars Jack Samson, Casper Van Dien, Camille Kostek, Richard Kind, and Arianne Zucker.
After discovering research left behind by a missing government agent, Dallas Edwards (Samson) and his misfit high school friends embark on a righteous and dangerous adventure to uncover a paranormal conspiracy in Southern California that brings them face-to-face with some of the government’s most guarded mysteries.
DeLonge also produced the original score, composed by Ilan Rubin and co-produced by Aaron Rubin. Along with DeLonge, Stan Spry and Eric Scott Woods produce “Monsters of California” with DeLonge’s To The Stars production company...

Former Blink-182 member Tom DeLonge is getting into filmmaking, and he's already set up a directing gig for his first feature film. It's called Strange Times, and it's a sci-fi film that centers on "a rebellious group of San Diego skateboarders who take it upon themselves to investigate extreme paranormal activity around town, only to embark on an adventure that they could have never imagined."
Sounds like it could be a fun movie! It definitely seems like a story I'd enjoy watching. Judging from the title and brief plot summary, it sounds like it may have found its inspiration from the Netflix series Stranger Things, but it's based on an existing franchise created by DeLonge, which includes a graphic novel, a Ya book trilogy, and a fringe website.
DeLonge co-wrote the script for the film with Ben Kull. They both collaborated on an animated short film called "Poet Anderson: The Dream Walker,...

While the pop culture public knows Tom DeLonge as a contemporary rock star co-founder of Blink-182 and later as the vocalist for modern post-punk supergroup Angels & Aiwaves, it appears that he’ll soon trade his duties onstage for one behind the scenes of a television series adaptation of his recent turn as a fiction author with franchise Strange Times.
Strange Times is now in development over at TBS as a television series. The project – following the supernatural exploits of a group of young skateboarders – will adapt the franchise of novels and graphic novels by DeLonge, notably represented by the 2015 graphic novel, Strange Times: The Curse of Superstition Mountain, and Strange Times: The Ghost in the Girl, the October 2016-released Ya book that DeLonge co-wrote with Geoff Herbach.
