Director William Friedkin (who passed away earlier this year) made a lot of great films, including Best Picture winner The French Connection and one of the best horror movies ever made, The Exorcist. One you don’t hear referenced very often is the serial killer thriller Rampage, which had trouble making its way out into the world and was a project where Friedkin felt he had missed the mark, as the finished film wasn’t close enough to his original vision for it. But now Kino Lorber is showing Rampage some of the respect it’s been lacking over the decades, as Blu-ray.com reports they’ll be giving the film a 4K Uhd release sometime in early 2024.
Scripted by Friedkin and based on a novel of the same name by William P. Wood, Rampage delves into the subject of legal insanity, so often the default defense in modern-time gruesome crime trials.

1990 was a peak year for Van Damage. The Muscles from Brussels was on the way to the big time after Bloodsport and Kickboxer (which made our list of the Best Fighting Movies) proved to be huge moneymakers at the box office. But, Jean-Claude Van Damme was different from some of his contemporaries because he was a hearthrob and a prime butt-kicker. His 1990 movie Lionheart was bought for distribution by Universal, paving the way to his breaking into mainstream studio work. But, before he could jump on that gravy train, he had one more movie left to make on his Cannon movie deal – but ironically, the company itself would not release the film theatrically due to its waning fortunes, with this being Van Damme’s first major studio release after MGM opted to distribute it. The movie? Death Warrant!

Sylvester Stallone has had a few franchises over the years – Rocky, Rambo, The Expendables – but he also has a film that should have been a franchise starter, but never received any of the sequels it deserved. That’s the 1986 classic Cobra (watch it Here), which also happens to be the movie The Arrow in the Head Show hosts John “The Arrow” Fallon and Lance Vlcek are talking about in the new episode of the series. To find out what they had to say about Cobra, check out the video embedded above!
Directed by George P. Cosmatos from a screenplay by Sylvester Stallone (which was apparently loosely based on the novel Fair Game by Paula Gosling), Cobra has the following synopsis: Los Angeles policeman Lt. Marion “Cobra” Cobretti finds himself at the center of a spate of murders carried out by a secret society called New Order: killers who select...

A new episode of The Arrow in the Head Show has just been released, and in this one hosts John “The Arrow” Fallon and Lance Vlcek are looking back at one of the coolest remakes ever made – the 1988 version of The Blob (watch it Here)! To find out what they think of this take on The Blob, check out the video embedded above.
A remake of the 1958 sci-fi horror classic, the ’88 version of The Blob was directed by Chuck Russell from a screenplay he wrote with Frank Darabont. Reaching theatres just one year after Russell and Darabont brought us the awesome A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors, the Blob remake told the following story: In a tiny California town, high school students Brian, Meg, and Paul discover a strange, gelatinous substance that melts the flesh of any living creatures in its path. We are big fans of the 1986 Sylvester Stallone action slasher Cobra (watch it at This Link) here on JoBlo and Arrow in the Head, so it’s cool to see that a sixth scale figure of Stallone’s Cobra character Marion Cobretti is now available for pre-order through Sly Stallone Shop. This officially licensed figure, endorsed by Stallone himself, looks awesome… and it should, considering it’s going for the price of 290! An image of the figure can be seen at the bottom of this article, and more can be seen at the Sly Stallone Shop link.
The figure, which stands approximately 12 inches tall, has the following features: – Ultra-realistic head sculpt (Hand painted) – Over 28 Points of articulation (Approx 30 cm / 12 Inches) – 6 posable gloved hands – Black Jacket – Black shirt – Jeans – Boots – Weapon holster – Colt Gold Cup National Match (Custom) – Machinegun Jatimatic Smg with 4 magazines and laser optic – Two hand grenades – Police badge...

On Thursday, Nov. 18, his wife, Shelley Lafleur, stated in a poignant post on Facebook that Art had died after a 10-year battle with Parkinson's disease. Calling him "the love of [her] life," Shelley explained that Art "brought laughter to so many people" in films like Field of Dreams and The Santa Clause 2 as well as on popular television shows including M*A*S*H, Matlock, Baywatch, Doogie Howser, Home Improvement, Boy Meets World, House and most recently Key and Peele. Art Lafleur, a character actor who often appeared as a cop, coach or tough guy and played Babe Ruth in “The Sandlot,” has died after a battle with Parkinson’s. He was 78.
His wife Shelley confirmed his death on Facebook, writing, “This guy… After a 10 year battle with A-typical Parkinson’s, Art Lafleur, the love of my life passed away.”
Lafleur was also known for “The Santa Clause 2” and “The Santa Clause 3,” in which he played the Tooth Fairy, and as Chuck Gandil, the ghost White Sox first baseman in “Field of Dreams.”
“He was a generous and selfless man which carried over to his acting but more importantly it was who he was for his family and friends. Every location or set we visited him on, the cast and crew would introduce themselves and tell Molly, Joe, and me how Art spoke of us with such pride and love.

Art Lafleur, the actor who was best known for playing Babe Ruth in The Sandlot, has died after a 10-year battle with A-typical Parkinson’s, according to his wife Shelley. He was 78.
Among his most memorable Sandlot lines was, “Remember kid, there’s heroes and there’s Legends. Heroes get remembered, but Legends never die!”
While Lafleur is best known for The Sandlot, his face is recognizable from films such as Field of Dreams, in which he played Black Sox ringleader Chick Gandil and The Santa Clause 2 and 3, in which he played the Tooth Fairy; as well as innumerable roles in classic TV series such as M*A*S*H, Lou Grant, Soap, Webster, The A-Team, Hill Street Blues, Thirtysomething, Northern Exposure, Home Improvement, Malcolm in the Middle, Doogie Howser, Coach, Baywatch, ER, Jag, House and The Mentalist.

Art Lafleur is the kind of guy you might look at as your favorite but kind of odd uncle, even though the guy has been solid throughout most of his roles, of which he’s had plenty. Just looking down his resume one can see that this guy has played a lot of different parts, which makes him one of the better character actors around. He’s taken on so many different persona’s that one has to wonder how he keeps them all straight, and yet for all that, a lot of people don’t know his name. It’s definitely easy to think

Count the Milwaukee Brewers among those who are fans of The Sandlot.
Several of the Major League Baseball team's players re-created a memorable scene from the baseball-themed movie to celebrate its 25th anniversary (the movie first hit theaters on April 1, 1993).
The team's official Twitter account tweeted out the video with this message: "There's heroes and there's legends. Heroes get remembered but legends never die." That, of course, is a quote from the film, delivered by Babe Ruth (Art Lafleur) to young Scotty Smalls (Tom Guiry) in a dream.
Watch the Brewers' version, and the original, below.

It is fair to say that Charles Band makes some interesting movies, most of them B-movies with a cult charm. As fans we love them for this very fact, whether it’s the brave move to just go for the fun instead of high quality drama, or sometimes and often more rarely actually being a surprisingly good movie. 88 Films are releasing one of these on Blu-ray in the form of Trancers, a movie that borrows a lot from Bladerunner but adds a time travelling concept that for its time was quite smart.

Moving can be a real pain. Finding that perfect house can be an even bigger inconvenience. Well, if I ever had any sort of informal education from horror movies, I’ve learned two fundamental truths. There’s gonna be trouble if hooking up with a beautiful woman is effortlessly easy, or if you run across a seemingly sweet real estate property at a ridiculously low price. I’ll go a bit further and say that said real estate property is probably going to be a murder house inhabited by a vengeful spirit with some serious emotional baggage. I would almost bet the farm on it.

It's hard to believe that "The Sandlot" is 20 years old. It seems like just yesterday that the world got to follow along with the adventures of Smalls, Squints, Benny the Jet and the rest of the boys. That may be because the timeless movie still feels as relevant as it ever does, and with good reason.
Zap2it sat down to talk to the cast, as well as writer/director David M. Evans about the staying power of the movie, special memories from back then and showing it in ballparks 20 years later.
"I don't think any of us saw any of this coming. I don't think there's a way to predict something like this happening," Marty York (Yeah-Yeah) says. "It's like catching lightning in a bottle." Some of the cast still gets recognized from the movie, Art Lafleur perhaps more than any other.

You’d be forgiven for thinking that The Wrong House is yet another “in the woods” slasher flick given the generic DVD box art (which is decidedly similar to 101 Films’ previous release The Lodge) and the films desolate cabin in the woods setting. However instead we get a thrilling haunted house flick that shares more in common with 2003′s Dead End than you’d at first think.
Originally titled House Hunting, the film see two families, led by The Beastmaster himself Marc Singer and character actor Art Lafleur, in town searching for a new home, who both show up at a deserted farmhouse. After rescuing Hanna, a lost girl whose tongue has been cut out, it quickly becomes clear that something is not right as they discover...

The American dream once again becomes the American scream when two families looking to buy a new home attend an open house only to find themselves trapped in a hellish nightmare unleashed by the wrathful spirit of the original owner.

We should have our official Dahmer vs. Gacy review posted soon, but until then I wanted to remind you that it will be available on DVD next Tuesday, May 10. Deep within a secret government lab, Dr. Hess (Art Lafleur) is obsessively working to create the ultimate killer by combining the DNA of two of the world’s most infamous serial murderers, Jeffrey Dahmer (Ford Austin) and John Wayne Gacy (Randal Malone).

House Hunting is your typical, "let's skip the theaters, and show up straight to your house" movie. It stars Marc Singer, who is probably best known for his role in the Beastmaster, along with Janey Gioiosa, Hayley DuMond, Paul McGill, Rebekah Kennedy, Victoria Vance and Art Lafleur. The movie involves two families who are on their way to an open house pretty much in the middle of nowhere. Upon arriving at the old house, they soon discover t…...

The search for the ideal home can be one of the single most stressful things anyone has to deal with. It's a series of phone calls, background checks, bank dealings, more phone calls, and then once you're done even more background checks, bank dealings, and more phone calls. Add some spookiness to the mix and boom now you have an even worse headache.
Below you'll find the first trailer for Eric Hurt's House Hunting starring Marc Singer, Janey Gioiosa, Hayley DuMond, Paul McGill, Rebekah Kennedy, Victoria Vance and Art Lafleur.
Look for more on this one as it comes.
Synopsis
If the American dream for most families is buying a house then for the two families headed to what they think is a simple open house, their dream is about to become a nightmare. We meet our two very different families as they search for the perfect house to call a home.

First on the map late last year, Eric Hurt's House Hunting is a psychological horror thriller that stars Marc Singer, Janey Gioiosa, Hayley DuMond, Paul McGill, Rebekah Kennedy, Victoria Vance and Art Lafleur. This morning we got our first look at the supernatural horror thanks to an impressive trailer, which can be viewed by reading beyond the break. "If the American dream for most families is buying a house then for the two families headed to what they think is a simple open house, their dream is about to become a nightmare. We meet our two very different families as they search for the perfect house to call a home. When both families show up at the deserted farmhouse it quickly becomes clear that something is not right..."...

The Beastmaster goes berserk in this stunning trailer for supernatural horror flick, House Hunting! The indie thriller originally caught my attention for three reasons. First, its premise of two families caught in a house that won't let them leave offered an intriguing old-school premise. Second, it's got a pretty odd ensemble cast in Marc Singer (V, Eagle Eye), Art Lafleur (Field of Dreams, The Rig, Cobra), Rebekah Kennedy (Season of the Witch, Creature) and Paul McGill (Man on Wire, Fame). and third, it's the directorial debut of Dp Eric Hurt, who most recently worked on a scifi flick we're dying to see called called Atlantis Down which is premiering at London Scifi Film Festival right away.

Freddy vs. Jason. King Kong vs. Godzilla. Alien vs. Predator. Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus. We've seen many famous fiends square off on film, but will any of those other great all-time match-ups compare to Dahmer vs. Gacy? The world will finally find out when the award-winning (yes, award-winning!) film hits Blu-ray and DVD shelves in May.
The serial killer smackdown produced and directed by Ford Austin from a script by Chris Watson and Andrew Rausch starring Austin as Jeffrey Dahmer and Randal Malone as John Wayne Gacy has already garnered "Outstanding Cast Performance" at the Action on Film International Film Festival in Pasadena, California, and was voted "Audience Choice Award" winner at the Bare Bones Independent Film Fest in Muskogee, Oklahoma.
A secret government lab has been trying to create the ultimate killer using the DNA of infamous killers Jeffrey Dahmer and John Wayne Gacy, but there's one big problem: They've escaped!

"House Hunting" a psychological horror thriller written/directed by Eric Hurt. The indie feature is a contemporary exploration of the notion that “hell is other people” and is inspired, in part, on existential philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre’s 1944 play No Exit. House Hunting is a blend of traditional ghost story and psychological thriller. An ensemble piece, it represents two families as they descend into madness while trapped inside a deserted farmhouse.
House Hunting stars Marc Singer (Beastmaster, TV series V), Art Lafleur (Field of Dreams , The Sandlot), Hayley DuMond (Hunter’s Moon), Paul McGill (Fame, Man on Wire), Jamee Vance, Janey Gioiosa and Rebekah Kennedy.
The production team includes writer/director Eric Hurt, executive producer Amy Carney, producers Pat Cassidy & Erica Arvold, Bryan Bieber, Deanna Gould, directors of photography Todd Free & Eric Hurt, production designer Tim Beyerle, and casting director Erica Arvold.

Peter Atencio is the director behind The Rig starring William Forsythe (Halloween), Seah D' Laine, Art Lafleur, Marcus T. Paulk, Stacey Hinnen and Dan Benson. The Rig finds the crew of an oil rig being picked off one by one by a sea monster. With The Rig, Peter Atencio has delivered a sleek, polished looking film on a tiny budget that has been picked up for release in the Us by Anchor Bay Entertainment. We wanted to know some about Peter Atencio's thought process while making The Rig, his first feature length film as director solo. Here is what he had to say.
So who is Peter Atencio and what are you all about?
I'm a director in Los Angeles, and I get excited about making entertaining stuff, in whatever form it finds itself.
How did The Rig come about? What was it about this project that attracted you to it?...

Another week in October, another bounty crop of horror DVDs and Blu-rays. This week we have home entertainment from recent theatrical releases of nightmares of the mind as well as re-releases of classic and campy horror, all with boatloads of extras.
Then there are other horror titles that are being re-released on Blu-ray or in packs for double dipping. On top of that, horror offerings from Asia, past seasons of TV shows, manga, novels, and even video games are all vying for our pocketbooks. And we still have four more weeks of October to go.
Next year October needs to begin in August.
Human Centipede: First Sequence
Directed by Tom Six
Human Centipede: First Sequence (review) was a sensation ever since its first mention. Stephen Colbert even talked about it at the 2010 Emmys Awards broadcast! The premise cannot be simpler. Two pretty American girls are on a road trip through Europe.

If you have Netflix and are a horror fan in need of something to watch this Labor Day weekend, one look at this gargantuan list I compiled of the new terror titles Netflix has added for instant streaming in just the first three days of this month should keep you busy until Labor Day next year. You'll find something for everyone, from older titles to recent releases, famous to obscure, classic to not-so-classic, monsters to maniacs - you name it.
For the record, I considered compiling this list in alphabetical order or by year of the film's release, but then I realized I had already spent well over an hour just sorting through the massive catalogue of titles Netflix has now made available for instant streaming and realized Labor Day would be over by the time I finished arranging this list in any kind of order. Ready? Here you go.

A film titled Dahmer vs. Gacy doesn't seem the type to be garnering awards at film festivals across the country, but that's exactly what's happening. It just won "Outstanding Cast Performance" at the Action on Film International Film Festival in Pasadena, California, and earlier this year the film also was voted "Audience Choice Award" winner at the Bare Bones Independent Film Fest in Muskogee, Oklahoma.
Produced and directed by Ford Austin from a script by Chris Watson and Andrew Rausch, Dahmer Vs. Gacy stars Ford Austin and Randal Malone as Dahmer and Gacy in a slaughter-filled rampage that includes appearances by Harland Williams (Half Baked), Art Lafleur (The Replacements), Steven Adler (Guns 'N Roses), Ethan Phillips (Star Trek: Voyager), Felissa Rose (Sleepaway Camp), Jerry Maren (Wizard of Oz), Bonnie Aarons (Drag Me to Hell), Irwin Keyes (House of 1000 Corpses), Jed Rowen (Acts of Violence), Lee Perkins (Live Evil), Brooke Lewis (iMurders), and many more!

The Rig BannerHow appropriate is this? An oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico is threatened to go down and take the oil workers in to the depths. Bp will not be getting all the publicity for oil spills as the relatively new director Peter Atencio brings The Rig to DVD in 2010, with help from Anchor Bay Studios. William Forsythe (Dear Mr. Gacy), Art Lafleur ("The Mentalist"), Marcus Paulk (Take the Lead), Serah D'Laine (Parasomnia) and Stacey Hinnen (Sharpshooter) will be those trying to stay alive as a mysterious creature goes about his/her/its business of murder. Watch out Bp there is someone even worse on the prowl.

The Bp oil spill disaster has left me wondering how long it's going to take before we see a wave of monster movies and disaster flicks centered around the subject. The makers of The Rig may have gotten lucky that they already had a creature feature in the can about a monster loose on an oil rig because now they'll be the first out of the gate when Anchor Bay spills the film onto DVD this October.

It was nearly two years ago that I first told you of a creature feature called The Platform starring William Forsythe and Art Lafleur about a crew trapped aboard an oil rig with a mutant monster. Been so long I had completely forgotten about the film until the other day when I decided to check on the status of it. At the time information was scarce. Now I find the film has a new title - The Rig, a new website, and a new trailer.

Isolated on the rig, their routine night is interrupted when a crew member goes missing and an extensive search proves futile. Godzilla fought King Kong. Alien battled Predator. Freddy faced off with Jason. Mega Shark duked it out with Giant Octopus. Now we're about to get Dahmer Vs. Gacy. No, it isn't the ultimate Ulli Lommel crossover movie. It's a horror comedy that pits two of the most notorious serial killers of all time against each other and unscrupulous rogue military scientists. Set your taste buds to tasteless.
A secret government program is cloning infamous serial killers and genetically splicing their DNA into a super serial killer for undisclosed purposes.
