Marvel fans were licking their wounds when news reached that a lucky few had seen footage from “Avengers: Infinity War” at the D23 Expo earlier this month, but the wait is finally over. Today, Marvel released the first trailer for its latest superhero mashup — and this one looks to just as wild a ride as its other beloved franchises.

And now another summertime staple appears at the multiplex: the feature film version of a television series. It’s not a recast movie adaptation of a beloved series from TV’s “golden” or “silver age” like Get Smart or The Fugitive nor one with an intense cult following that like Star Trek, which has inspired a long-running (over 35 years now) franchise (but who knows?). This series isn’t currently in production as with “The Simpsons” or “The X-Files” (which was still running on Fox TV when the first film premiered). This could be closer to Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me, which hit theatres mere months after ABC TV’s show left the airwaves. But it’s closest, perhaps, to Sex And The City which made its movie debut just a few years after wrapping a successful run on “premium” cable channel HBO (as in “It’s not TV…it...

Previously-commenced shooting be damned, Jobs continues to expand its (surprisingly decent) cast with reckless abandon. Continuing such a surprising amount of decency, according to Variety, are J.K. Simmons, Kevin Dunn (Transformers), Elden Henson (Déjà Vu), Victor Rasuk (Che, Being Flynn), Lenny Jacobson (Celeste and Jesse Forever), and Giles Matthey (True Blood).
In order, Simmons will appear as Arthur Rock, a venture capitalist who took a chance on Apple; Dunn will be seen as the company’s chairman, Gil Amelio; Henson has been locked to play an Apple developer, Andy Hertzfeld; Rasuk is Bill Fernandez, the first Apple employee and one of their user interface architects; Jacobson has landed the part of Burrell Smith, an engineer; and Matthey has some big shoes to fill Jonathan Ive, the designer of the iPod.
Joshua Michael Stern (Swing Vote) has been directing the film for about a month now, with, as I’m sure you know,...

Judging by its record-setting opening weekend, the odds are ever more in your favor that you’ve seen The Hunger Games by now. Which means your schedule is that much more free to have it be overwhelmed by the DVR death-match looming next Sunday, when the second seasons of The Killing and Game of Thrones premiere, against the second episode of Mad Men’s fifth season (and, oh right, there’s The Good Wife and The Amazing Race and The Simpsons and the final season of Desperate Housewives, too). It’ll be up to you to decide how the heck to navigate this scheduling minefield,...

"The Killing" is a crime show -- there are no two ways about that. It begins with a murder, and the detectives investigating it are front and center throughout.
Beyond that, though, AMC's new series, which premieres Sunday (April 3), bears little resemblance to a network procedural. That's by design, says executive producer Veena Sud, who adapted the Danish series "Forbrydelsen" for American audiences. "One of the biggest things I tried to do in developing this show is [think about] how can we tell a cop show differently, tell a cop show in a way that hasn't been done before?" Sud tells Zap2it. "How can we upend notions and tropes of the genre and make it fresh and unique?"

Rooney Mara made a significant impression in The Social Network, thanks in large part to the way she held her own against Jesse Eisenberg in the film's long opening scene. Now she's working again for David Fincher in one of the two starring roles in his version of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. So there's a good chance she's going to be huge. But after Dragon Tattoo is done it looks like she'll take a moment to be in a smaller film. The actress has been cast in Emanuel And The Truth About Fishes, from her Tanner Hall co-director Francesca Gregorini. The Playlist [1] has the news, saying that the film is about " a young, troubled woman who becomes obsessed with her mysterious, new neighbor that looks uncannily like her dead mother." This film will shoot in the summer, and we'll be really interested to see who is cast as the mother and neighbor.
