According to Deadline, Anchor Bay has acquired Nothing to Fear, from production company Slasher Films. Slasher Films, as it stands, is the horror-based production company of former Guns N’ Roses guitarist, Slash, and the producing team of Rob Eric and Michael Williams.
Attached to helm is Anthony Leonardi III, who has no feature directing experience, but comes from an artistic storyboard and creature design background. His previous artistic works include contributions to Constantine, Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World’s End, Rango and the upcoming 47 Ronin. Thomas Haden Church was in talks for this back in September, though no news has come of that since, nor is he mentioned in the press release. Along with producing the film, Slash will also be co-producing the score. Courtesy of Deadline, here’s the press release:

Anne Heche, James Tupper, Willa Holland, Rafi Gavron and Jennifer Stone are set to star in Nothing to Fear . Screen Daily broke the story out of the American Film Market, but did not confirmed whether or not Thomas Hayden Church did indeed sign on to star. The actor was previously said to be circling the project. Anthony Leonardi is directing and Slash will produce through his Slash Films production outfit. Here is the synopsis we provided earlier: When opportunity knocks, a young down-on-their-luck family packs up their home and moves halfway across the country to re-root themselves into an idyllic little town filled with hopes of a better life. What awaits them however is a tale of betrayal and evil beyond any of their worst nightmares. Anchored around the...

[1] Oscar winner Colin Firth has just added another project to his slate: the epic drama The Railway Man. The film will be directed by Jonathan Teplitzky (Better Than Sex, Burning Man) from Andy Paterson and Frank Cottrell Boyce, adapted from Eric Lomax's memoir of the same title. Lomax's book focuses on the torture he experienced at the hands of the Japanese during his time working on the Burma-Siam Railroad (a.k.a. the bridge on the River Kwai) as a World War II Pow. Upon learning decades later that one of his torturers was still alive, Lomax arranged to meet with him. The story certainly sounds compelling and intense, and worthy of an actor of Firth's talent. The Railway Man is set to begin shooting February in Great Britain, Thailand, and Australia. [Variety [2]] After the jump, Shirley Maclaine, Alan Arkin, and Vera Farmiga team up for a spin on Romeo & Juliet,...

It’s been quite a few years since Thomas Haden Church appeared in a horror movie, even including the terror that was misfiring Bradley Cooper/Sandra Bullock “comedy” All About Steve. But now it looks like he’s stepping back into the genre, entering talks to star in Nothing to Fear. Anthony Leonardi will be slipping behind the camera for this one, working from Jonathan Wc Mills’ script. The plot sees a family looking to find a better life only for their struggles to be dogged by a charismatic yet slightly loopy priest (Church). According to Deadline, the story is based on a town that some claim is one of the seven gateways to hell. Wonder if it’s twinned with Milton Keynes? The movie’s being backed by Slasher Films, the genre production company set up by Michael Williams, Rob Eric and ex-Guns N’ Roses guitar star Slash. “Our...

After somehow surviving his near career killing role in the abysmal Spider-Man 3, actor Thomas Haden Church is back and ready to battle something much more horrific than just an awful script!
According to Deadline Church will be starring in the very first green-lit film from Slash and his new company Slasher Films, Nothing to Fear, with Anthony Leonardi in the director's chair.
The flick focuses on a family’s journey toward a better life, and how it is undone by a charismatic but unbalanced man of the cloth (Church). It’s based on an actual town purported to be one of the seven gateways to hell. The picture will begin shooting late October in Louisiana.
'Our mission at Slasher Films has been to create genre films that defy the genre stereotypes,' Slash said. 'The team of Anthony and Thomas elevate an already frightening story with a unique vision and powerful artistry.

Before you delve any further into this article, you should prepare yourself to read the words "slash" and "church" several dozen times. Ready? Ok, then:
Last year, Slash, erstwhile guitarist of seminal rock band Guns N' Roses, formed the appropriately named Slasher Films, an outfit formed to, in the words of the man himself, "create genre films that defy the genre stereotypes." While that sounds like pretty vague marketing jargon to us, we now have some further clarification on what that means: Making horror movies about preachers starring Thomas Haden Church.
Deadline is reporting that Slasher Films is ready to rock on its very first film, "Nothing to Fear," directed by Anthony Leonardi, who has previously worked on films including "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End," "Constantine" and others. The movie stars Church as an "unbalanced man of the cloth" in a church located in a town "purported to...

300: Battle of Artemisia
Producer Bernie Goldmann says the upcoming "300: Battle of Artemisia" has a "small part" for Lena Headey and Gerard Butler's King Leonidas and Queen Gorgo characters from the first film.
Goldmann adds that they're likely to cast less recognizable faces, much like Headey and Butler were at the time that "300" launched. [Source: Movies.com]
Terrence Malick's Next
Hayley Bennett ("Kaboom," "Marley & Me," "Music and Lyrics") looks to have landed (but not yet signed for) the female lead role in acclaimed director Terrence Malick's untitled next effort starring Christian Bale. Story details are unknown.
Bennett beat out the likes of Clemence Poesy, Rooney Mara and Mia Wasikowska. Sarah Green and Nicholas Gonda are producing while shooting is scheduled to take place next summer. [Source: Variety]
The English Teacher
Julianne Moore and Greg Kinnear have signed to star in Craig Zisk's indie comedy "The English Teacher" for Artina Films.

As much as I like Thomas Haden Church, he hasn't exactly been making the greatest decisions with his career in recent years. After Alexander Payne totally reinvigorated his career by casting him in Sideways (which earned him an Oscar nomination), Church has done dud after dud, including titles like All About Steve, Imagine That, Spider-Man 3 and Smart People. Naturally, the correct move at this point in his career is sign on for a film produced by Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash. Deadline reports that the actor is now in talks for Nothing To Fear, the first project greenlit by Slasher Films, the production company started by Slash, Michael Williams and Rob Eric. Slash doesn’t just love whiskey, cigarettes, giant hats, and being one of the greatest guitar players in the history of mankind — he’s also a lover of cinema and has thrown his hat into the production game. Deadline reports that his company, Slasher Films (I don’t get it), has greenlit their first project. Called Nothing to Fear, the movie will follow a family whose path to a better life is constantly thwarted by a mentally unbalanced man of the cloth.
Interesting (if not a little vague), but what’s really cool about this project is that it’s apparently based on a real life town that is supposedly one of the seven gateways to Hell. This is the first time I’ve heard about it, so it’s been a pretty well-kept secret, considering its supposed connection to the Underworld. Thomas Haden Church is in talks to play the crazy clergyman,...

We originally reported that Anthony Leonardi was in talks to get behind the camera for the third Butterfly Effect film... sometimes it doesn't always pan out. We learned this afternoon that Seth Grossman will direct the newly titled Butterfly Revelation (Butterfly Effect: Revelation) for After Dark Films. We were also tipped off that Chris Carmack will topline as Sam Reed in the film, which was written by Holly Brix. A fatal fire in his childhood has somehow given Sam Reed the capacity to travel back in time -- a "psychic" talent that, thus far, he has used to help fight crime. But, in order to save an innocent man from the death chamber, Sam travels back to try and track the real killer of an old love -- and winds up ripping a hole in the fabric of the past and unleashing a vicious serial slayer on an unsuspecting world.
