Nashville was once famously called a ‘ten year town,’ because that’s about how long an artist has to make it there. Maggie Rose has been at it longer than that. Along the way, she struggled to break through in mainstream country music by submitting herself to the machine: playing CMA Fest in the midday summer sun, visiting countless radio stations, and releasing country singles that went nowhere.
Finally, she had enough. In 2018, with her aptly titled LP Change the Whole Thing, Rose threw up her hands and began making...

With summer (unofficially) over and the Halloween Season now in full swing, these weekly roundups are about to get very packed with fresh new horrors both at home and in theaters!
Eight brand new horror movies are releasing in this first full week of September, and trust me when I say even that makes for a quiet week compared to what’s coming soon.
Here’s all the new horror arriving September 6 – September 11, 2022!
First up, Dread’s Tiny Cinema was just unleashed On Demand yesterday, a horror anthology of multiversal madness that’s also coming to Blu-ray on October 11 of this year.
Sit back, relax, and get uncomfortable…
From the makers of Butt Boy, Tiny Cinema is said to be “a twisted tale of seemingly unconnected strangers whose lives will change in incredible and bizarre ways forever. As reality unravels, each person must battle incredible challenges from a multiverse seeking...

If you have been paying attention to 2022's cinematic trends, you should know that multiverses are totally in vogue right now. Whether they are the cruxes of a major superhero franchise or a symbol for the complexities of relationships, multiverses offer an infinite amount of storytelling opportunities, as long as the core story allows for it.
"Tiny Cinema," the upcoming anthology film that recently had its world premiere at the Popcorn Frights Film Festival, is one such story. Directors Tyler Cornack and Ryan Koch have been eager to take their weirdness, previously demonstrated in 2019's "Butt Boy," to the next level by using the ever-expanding multiverse concept. The stories in this anthology might not seem related at first, but as they get increasingly bloodier and awkward, things might turn out to be far more connected than anyone might realize.

Prurient: having or showing too much interest in sex
We’ve been accused in the past of pandering to prurient interests, and we do take the criticism to heart. However … when a Tbl all-time favorite like Scott Evans decides to post nude selfies for the world to see … we have to think about the greater good.
Out actor Scott (brother of Captain America star Chris) is best known as Police Cop Oliver Fish on One Life To Live, and was one half of the show’s gay supercouple Kish (along with Brett Claywell as Kyle Lewis). For a while, they were the “it” gay couple on daytime TV, until they were unceremoniously dumped by Tptb.
Since then, Scott has had small roles in episodic TV, and an unfortunate run-in with the law last year.
And now, Scott has decided to join the growing trend of public figures posting nude selfies for the world to see.

I’m glad the show is starting to use Felix more and having him connect to some of the other characters on the show besides Sabrina, who I don't care much for, but I really hope he’s going to be more than just a "talk to." It’s just hard for me to even care if he’s not going to be a fully fleshed out character and have a life, complete with romantic interests. It’s nice that he doesn’t hide his attraction in men, but unless we get to him in romances like all the other characters, then he’s really not being treated equally. If he likes the bad boys, then bring on one of them for him.
I did like hearing more about him, such as that he used to work at Foxy Roxy’s in Llanview. But...

His beat cop character Oliver Fish was a savvy detective, but Evans himself got snared by law enforcement yesterday evening in La. According to TMZ he was busted for trying to buy drugs off an undercover cop.
Oh Fish! That's something we might expect from Kyle, but not you!
No word yet on exactly what drugs were involved, but he was booked at 6:15Pm for attempting to possess a controlled substance.

August 17th marks the fifth anniversary of a landmark moment on U.S. daytime TV, as well as gay pop culture. It was on that day, on the CBS soap opera As The World Turns, that closeted, insecure television intern Noah Mayer let his guard down, and allowed fellow intern (and proudly out) Luke Snyder to ... help him tie his tie.
What followed was historic for TV, and helped usher in a new era for soap operas.
The kiss resonated around the world, and in the ensuing months, there was plenty of controversy, including an effective "Hershey Kiss" boycott by Ae member Jerome, when it appeared that Tptb at the show were purposely avoiding any more displays of affection between newly minted supercouple Nuke.
Eventually, Nuke were allowed to kiss onscreen again, and in the couple of years they were together, they gave us many sweet and warm moments, and many memorable kisses.

Fans of Days Of Our Lives have been eagerly awaiting the show's post-Olympics return on Monday, August 13th, especially after the well-done "day-saster" put lives on the line, and put a real damper on dead Lexi's fancy benefit.
The biggest question mark is the fate of Will Horton, who was not part of the explosion montage, and whose whereabouts remain a mystery. Fortunately, we got our hands on an exclusive look of Will's aftermath storyline*, and as you'll see, Tptb have listened to the fans and finally given Will the meaty material he deserves! Let's see what we have to look forward to.
*May not have happened
While Salem tries to pick up the pieces and move on, we learn that Will was, in fact, caught in the explosion when he ventured into the catacombs beneath the town after catching a whiff of what he thought was E.J.'s cologne "Eau De Toxic Sulfur.

EastEnders
I’m glad Amira has finally gotten the message, given up on Syed and left town. Given that Syed cheated on her for over a year with Christian, ended their marriage to be with Christian and wanted nothing more than to be with Christian after Christian dumped him late last year, it’s pretty clear that he’s just not that into her. I just hope she doesn’t give him a hard time about finally getting a divorce and lets him see his daughter regularly without a hassle. Her character has worn out her welcome, and it’s time to move on. I will miss scenes of Christian and Amira being bitchy to each other though. That was always fun to watch.
As for Zainab finally confessing that she purposefully sent Yusef to his death, which led to Tamwar being seriously burned, it was a moment long in coming.

When our sister site AfterEllen.com recently presented their list of 25 TV Characters You Should Not Date, we laughed along while smugly shaking our heads and thinking, "So many undateable women!" Then we started our own list ... and our smiles turned to tears. It's not that the gay men on our list don't have their strong points, but as you'll see, the cons outweigh the pros.
Lafayette Reynolds, True Blood
Pros: Hooker, please. You can't handle what he's got to offer.
Cons: Prostitute; V dealer; Suffers from post traumatic stress-from-being-chained-to-a-wheel-in-vampire-dungeon disorder
Dateability: Lafayette is fun and fierce, but don't take V with him or you'll soon be seeing floating voodoo tchotchkes and talking with your dead Grammy about future plot points.
Teddy Montgomery, 90210
Pros: Hot as hell; Rocks a wetsuit
Cons: Can only get life insurance from Art Linkletter; Likes shaking fist at clouds; Bursitis constantly flaring
Dateability: Teddy is hot,...

TigerCub started a forum thread he titled Merry Xmas Ae Staffers that was all about saying thanks for the site and the work we do. And he even did caption pics for it! (Of course, picture captions are my turf, but I'm willing to make an exception this time.)
Reading the comments you guys left on the post about the site, well, it means a lot to all of us here. Writing for the online world can be a rough and tumble experience as folks are usually not shy about sharing their opinions. That's mostly a good thing as...

We start where we left off, with everyone dealing with the news that Jackson might be paralyzed from the neck down for the rest of his life…
Watching Emmerdale, especially during a really sad storyline like this puts me of two minds. First, I’m glad there’s a show that is consistently putting out brilliantly written and beautifully acted soapy drama and having their gay characters right in the middle of the action, without a whiff of homophobia hanging in the air. Unlike, say, As The World Turns, I know this show isn’t crippling Jackson in order to avoid their gay characters having sex.
But second, it makes me angry that we have to look at other countries to get that. And what’s really annoying is that it’s uncertain any U.S. daytime soap will ever give us another Luke Snyder or Reid Oliver or Kyle Lewis or Oliver Fish.

HollywoodNews.com: Writing Scott Evans character of Oliver Fish out of One Life to Live has got to be one of the biggest bonehead decisions in the history of daytime soaps.
The character had been on such a journey and had managed to continue to do his job as a police officer as he came to terms with his sexuality.
The exit of Fish and boyfriend Kyle Lewis (Brett Claywell) still makes me absolutely furious.
But Evans has moved on.

Editor's note: A source at ABC Daytime informed us of a top secret unaired (and unrated even) episode of One Life to Live. This episode picks up where we last saw Oliver Fish and Kyle Lewis. While for various conractual and logistical reasons the episode itself cannot be broadcast – our own snicks will be watching it this afternoon via encrypted streaming broadcast, and he'll be liveblogging as he watches. So buckle up Kish fans, and refresh often for updates!

Long before there was Oliver Fish and Kyle Lewis, Ryan Phillippe played gay teenager Billy Douglas on ABC’s One Life to Live.
The 34-year-old actor had not yet starred in such films as Cruel Intentions, Gosford Park, Igby Goes Down, Crash and Stop-Loss when he was on the soap and his character the first gay teenager on a daytime soap opera paving the way years later for Luke Snyder on As the World Turns.
In a Men’s Health cover story featuring a now very studly Ryan, the actor said of his 1992-93 soap stint: “I would worry, ‘What will the people at school think?’ And they shunned me in a lot of ways. But it ended up being an incredible experience and such a time of growth for me.”

Fans of "One Life to Live's" gay couple Kyle Lewis (Brett Claywell) and Oliver Fish (Scott Evans), collectively known as "Kish," have planned a Times Square rally to protest their favorite characters being written off of the soap.
The fans, who call themselves the "Kish Army," will gather outside ABC's "Good Morning America" studios starting at 6:30 a.m. Et on Friday, March 26. The Save Kish website, which is helping to spread awareness about the event, accuses ABC of "giving in to bigots."
Protesters are encouraged to make signs and wear t-shirts that support the actors or characters, and organizers are expected to appear in the "Good Morning America" studio audience as well. Fans plan to not only support "Kish," but also gay representation in the media in general, and gay story lines on daytime television.

In an exclusive interview with the new gay blog Queer Sighted, daytime soap star Brett Claywell talks about the abrupt ending of the ground-breaking "Kish" storyline on One Life To Live. ("Kish" is the nickname for the romance between Kyle Lewis, the openly gay but devious lab tech, and Oliver Fish, the straight arrow closeted cop). Interestingly, the out gay character is played by Claywell, who's straight, while the closeted cop is played by out actor Scott Evans. In fact, Claywell had just given a previously-scheduled interview to Queer Sighted about his career moments before he walked into the One Life To Live offices -- the actor had intended to turn in his Emmy reel selection, but the his visit soon took an alternate route. "Frank [Valentini, the executive producer] saw me, came and got me, we walked into his office, and...

When news broke that ABC was writing gay couple Kyle Lewis (Brett Claywell) and Oliver Fish (Scott Evans) off of "One Life to Live" due to poor viewer reception, fans mobilized, writing petitions, starting campaigns, and even planning a rally.
On Tuesday (March 16) Brett Claywell opened up to Zap2it about getting laid off by the network, his surprise at not being mentioned at the GLAAD Awards, and his continued fight as an ally to the gay community.
Some of his comments stirred up controversy with Zap2it readers. Here are some of the choice responses.
Fans:

Larry: "Brett is from the South as am I and he is spot on.

It's entirely possible you missed a small revolution that played out on daytime TV this year, in a gay storyline on One Life to Live involving Officer Oliver Fish (Scott Evans, the younger, openly gay brother of Fantastic Four star Chris Evans) and Kyle Lewis (played by straight actor Brett Claywell), an old college friend whose sensitive hunkitude draws Fish out of the closet. Sure, gays on TV are nothing new, but Kish, as fans began to lovingly refer to them, shattered the age-old image of the gay eunuch, while demonstrating, in a New Year's Eve consummation scene for the ages, that two masculine men in a committed relationship could make sensitive love without the use of a Lady Gaga backing track or cardboard box of sex toys. (Pottery Barn candles of varying heights, on the other hand, are another story.) It was transfixing, paradigm-busting stuff, heralded by media advocacy...

We asked you which gay or bisexual TV characters you think are the best, and you told us – with tens of thousands of votes cast.
Now we have the results.
But first, a few interesting statistics.
We have quite a few familiar faces – characters who made our last poll of the best gay and bisexual characters two and a half years ago – and a few missing ones, namely Vince D’Angelo (from Will & Grace), George Huang (from Law & Order: Svu), and Waylon Smithers (from The Simpsons), all of whom didn’t even make the top 50 this time around.
Meanwhile, we also have many new faces – from shows that have debuted since our last poll.
Every single character except two comes from a show that ran in the 00s (although some shows, like Will & Grace, did debut in the late 90s). The exceptions? Jodie Dallas, played by Billy Crystal, on Soap...

Every week we pick the gay characters, actors, or reality show personalities who have most impressed us in television (or pop culture in general), and leave it to you, the keepers of the flame, to decide who will be crowned Gay of the Week.
This week's candidates: A returning Olympian, a sublime parody of a reality show megalomaniac, one half of Oltl's Kish, and an interracial gay couple courtesy of ABC Family. (Thanks Pat Robertson!)
Check them out after the break.

And not only was there a message for straight viewers, but there was also a pretty strong one for gay viewers. The message being,...

It’s been quite an amazing twelve months for Scott Evans, who until mid-summer of last year, was a minor recurring character on the ABC soap One Life to Live. But that was before the talented and daring writing crew at the show decided to reveal nerdy cop Oliver Fish as closeted and in love with his college lover, Kyle Lewis (Brett Claywell). Thus Kish was born and the couple quickly became one of daytime’s most talked about duos.
While other soaps have feared to tread too far into gay territory, Oltl has gone full bore crafting daytime’s first same-sex love triangle, boldly tackling the topic of gay marriage and giving fans the romantic payoff of the first love scene between two men on daytime television.
We talked to Evans about the past year, how it’s affected his life, his views on political subjects, working with his movie star brother Chris Evans,...

What?! It’s not enough that we spent the whole year providing you with insightful news and analysis on gay and bisexual entertainment – now we have to pick which 2009 projects we think best represented gay and bisexual men?!
Sorry, we’re getting a little Grinch-y around here come year-end.
But the fact is, gay and bisexual entertainment-related news is inexorably linked with the issue of visibility. If you know anything at all about the history of such entertainment, you know that it’s almost always been “controversial.” As passionate as the creators of these projects have always been, there’s been a similarly strong counter-pressure to keep these themes hidden or under wraps.
As a result, for a website like ours, covering the “news” of these projects inevitably becomes a question of championing the ones of quality (and giving the hook to those who don’t measure up, or that...

Every week we pick the gays who we think have made the biggest splash in television (or pop culture in general) and leave it to you, the keepers of the flame, to decide who will be crowned Gay of the Week.
Last week's results had soap opera character Oliver Fish beating out the real live Brendan Burke for the crown. Many, many people were frustrated by that result and felt it was unfair (and perhaps shallow) to pit frothy popular fictional characters against real world heroes. Well, we definitely heard you and are trying something a little different moving forward.
As you may have noticed, the Best Gay Week Ever column now contains a Hero of the Week poll, which allows us to recognize those real world individuals with more substantial contributions to the world at large. Moving forward, that's where we'll tip our hat to the Brendan Burkes, the Rachel Maddows,...

Welcome to another edition of Gays of Our Lives. This week we start with Gool Theater where Luke and Noah’s new story arc begins. And if you think Oakdale’s cutest gay teens have had some strange storylines before … this one takes the cake. Plus, Fer faces losing his boyfriend when David might have to move away in Física o’ Química, Simon ‘Doctors’ a boy being bullied and helps to console a gay man who might lose custody of his adopted daughter. And Riley looks to be de-gayed on Degrassi: The Next Generation.
Gool Scoops And Spoilers has the dish on Emmerdale as bad boy Aaron Livesy acts out, Luke gets a really bad idea on As the World Turns (what else is new?), Kyle and Oliver celebrate their first Thanksgiving together on One Life to Live and the Walkers go to Hawaii for Justin and Rebecca’s wedding on Brothers & Sisters.

This week one of our biggest editions of Gays of Our Lives ever includes an interview with One Life to Live head writer Ron Carlivati, responsible for the Kyle/Oliver love story that has had daytime talking and made instant stars out of Brett Claywell, who plays Kyle Lewis, and Scott Evans, who plays Oliver Fish. We talk about the creation of the storyline, how the actors felt when they learned about the plot twist and why Kish has became such a sensation.
Plus, we find out what’s next for Llanview’s gays. Where do Oliver and Kyle go from here? Is Kyle’s ex Nick (Nicholas Rodriguez) out of the picture? And what about that baby that Oliver unknowingly fathered? We cover all of that and more in our interview.
In Gool Theater, we’ve got some rather steamy and romantic clips from One Life to Live as...

Every week we pick the gays who we think have made the biggest splash in television (or pop culture in general) and leave it to you, the keepers of the flame, to decide who will be crowned Gay of the Week. We'll announce the winner on Friday, and that champ will reign until a new set of challengers are introduced the following week to try to steal his title.
Last week you crowned everyone's favorite soap opera cop, Oliver Fish, as gay of the week. This week he and boyfriend Kyle compete together to fend off three popular challengers - all of whom have won Gay of the Week in the past.
Check them out after the break, and vote for your favorite!
Scotty Wandell gets a nod this week because last Sunday's episode marked the first time this character has been given a storyline that didn't revolve around hubby...

Knock, Knock. Who's There? The Closet. you're Still Around? You Better Believe It!
There's been a great deal of discussion on the site over the past couple of weeks about gay celebrities, the closet and what constitutes being "out." And even though we've discussed the issue numerous times before, it seems like it is once again time to revisit the topic. And it's a subject that is as tricky as ever and that can have real consequences for the celebrities involved.
Perez kicked the latest round of debate off when he posted an item about White Collar's Matthew Bomer. Without citing a source or saying how he knew, Perez simply claimed Matt was an out gay man. If true, we were certainly interested in writing about Matt and his show, but as we aren't a gossip site, I wasn't going to simply repeat Perez's claims — for lots of reasons.

Last week, we gave an honorary, in memoriam crown to "Friend of Dorothy (Zbornak)" Bea Arthur. This week we've got four new contenders vying for the throne, including two from the same soap opera. Will they split their vote and open up a path to victory for either a flame-haired former ice skater, or a pair of globetrotting gay brothers?
Check them out after the break, and vote for your favorite!

If you’ve ever doubted how quickly the world can change once an impasse is broken, consider the incredible case of the ABC soap opera One Life to Live, which is currently featuring a complicated love triangle among three gay male characters. Next week, two of them are planning to participate in a mass “protest” gay wedding ceremony that will also include a (faked) lesbian marriage involving one of the show’s long-time female characters.
But just two years ago, viewers of the CBS soap As the World Turns were growing increasingly frustrated because it seemed clear that the producers of that show were not allowing its two gay teen characters to kiss — a controversy that eventually spilled over into the mainstream media.
As the World Turn’s gay kissing moratorium was finally broken on April 23, 2008 — 211 eleven days after the characters kissed for the first time. But even then, it...

Adam Lambert (Sort Of) Kissed A Girl ... And No One Could Stop Talking About It
The big gay news of the week is that one big gay icon did something not so gay and set the gay blogosphere abuzz. That's right, Adam Lambert posed for some racy pictures with a nekkid girl and the reaction of our readers was all over the place as demonstrated by the nearly 70 comments folks posted. Our follow-up poll the next day registered nearly 2,000 votes and generated another 50+ comments.
As for the poll results — it was a dead heat with 41% of folks loving the pics and 41% saying "Ew" and believing that someone was trying to give Adam a "hetero" make-over. I'll say one thing; you folks had a ton of passionate, mostly articulate things to say about the topic.
Personally, I see the whole issue as being a nice little zeitgeist-y moment in how we...
