- Visited Spain for the first time in 1962, and loved it so much he made it his home -- first living in Villajoyosa (Alicante province) and then in Madrid, where he remained till the mid-1990s before returning to his hometown of Chicago, IL. During the Madrid years, he worked in acting, voice-overs, and advertising agency modeling. The three films in which he appeared were all filmed in Spain.
- Performed the roles of Cousin Jeff and Actor in the 1959 production of Auntie Mame, starring Shirl Conway, which toured Australia for 10 months. Leon's middle name is Howard, and in this production he went by the stage name Leon Howard.
- Began dance lessons in Chicago at age 17, and continued studying under Ernest Belcher in Los Angeles on the recommendation and encouragement of his Chicago teacher.
- Grew up on Chicago 's west side; attended William Penn Elementary School and Farragut High School, graduating in the Class of 1949. Two years ahead of Kim Novak at both schools.
- He is working on opening a residence for distressed raconteurs and bon vivants.
- After a 1962 Spanish coastal house rental (Villajoyosa), Leon went to Madrid. Spain was a major center for dubbing foreign films into English in the 1960s and 70s, and because of it, English-speaking actors flocked to Madrid. Leon knew Ben Tatar, an American dubbing director who had been brought to Spain by Ava Gardner, and Ben put Leon to work straight away. English-language films were being made in Spain in this era; dubbing led to roles and became a good reason to stay in Spain.
- He has worked not only as an actor but as a CBS television cameraman for WGMB in Honolulu, a dishwasher in London at the Stockpot Restaurant in Knightsbridge, in advertising field at Young & Rubicam in London, a model for Renault car brochures and ads in Spain, as a tour escort in Spain, Portugal, and Morocco, but also as a journalist.
- Leon was a feature writer for Australian House and Garden magazine, assistant editor of Guidepost, the English-language magazine in Spain, and, in recent years, has contributed articles to AAA Westways, the magazine for AAA members in southern California. He's also been featured on "Traveling with Paul Lasley and Elizabeth Harryman" for On Travel, on Armed Forces Radio Network.
