Blackpool ended a run of four straight Championship defeats by coming back at Bloomfield Road to hold Leeds United. Tom Ince canelled out Lee Peltier’s opener, but the ill-discipline of the Seasiders continued as defender Kirk Broadfoot was sent off.
Leeds scored midway through a drab first half when the wingbacks combined. Peltier nodded Danny Pugh’s back across goal and his header looped into the corner. Blackpool threatened most from set pieces with Tom Ince putting in decent deliveries.
Versatile Tangerines defender Broadfoot came closest for the hosts before half time when he turned a near post corner wide. Jason Pearce did the same for Brian McDermott’s Whites after the break.
Jack Robinson lashed over Blackpool ten minutes into the second half and they levelled midway through it thanks to Ince junior. His 20-yarder took a deflection off Leeds centre half Marius Zaliukas, leaving Paddy Kenny bamboozled.

Leeds United have not won at Blackpool since 1967, yet they are three points and five places better off than their hosts on Boxing Day after 21 Championship matches.
Paul Ince’s Seasiders have lost four in a row, dropping out of the playoffs and down to tenth at Christmas. Brian McDermott and the Whites have benefitted from this, putting together an unbeaten run of two wins and two draws which has resulted in them climbing into the top six.
Scotland striker Ross McCormack is in hot form for Leeds after scoring 11 goals in his last eight matches. Blackpool – contending with injuries and suspensions – have by contrast only netted that many times as a team since the end of September.
As this match kicks off after all but one of the Championship encounters on Boxing Day, United will start no lower than eighth.

A five-star second half showing from Derby County saw them come from behind against fellow promotion hopefuls Blackpool and make it five Championship wins in a row.
Steve McClaren now has seven victories in nine matches since returning to the Rams as head coach. County are the form side in their division and sit fourth in the table – sandwiched between East Midlands rivals Leicester City and Nottingham Forest.
Derby outthought, outfought and outclassed Paul Ince’s outfit as Blackpool collapsed into losing their full complement of XI for the second successive game. It was clinical stuff from the hosts at Pride Park as they laid down another big marker.
But don’t take my word for it. McClaren himself agreed after winning three encounters in less than a week:
“I think we’ve learned more from the players in these last six days than the last six weeks.”

Derby County host fellow promotion chasers Blackpool in Saturday’s lunchtime offering from the Championship with the two teams locked together on 31 points.
Rams head coach Steve McClaren has won six of the eight games – and four in a row – since he succeeded Nigel Clough in the Pride Park dugout.
That fine form was recognized when on loan fullback Andre Wisdom received a nomination for the SkyBet player of the month for November, but missed out on the award to Leeds United striker Ross McCormack.
Seasiders boss Paul Ince meanwhile will have to make changes as three players picked up suspensions in their last outing.
Derby have won their last two home meetings with Blackpool, but Seasiders star man and manager’s son Tom Ince has scored for the visitors on both those occasions.
