“The Tonight Show” host Jimmy Fallon apologized to his staffers this week after a damning Rolling Stone report alleged a work environment marred by his toxic behavior on set — and it’s not the first time the former “Saturday Night Live” star has come under fire for his actions. He’s previously been criticized for not paying his writers during the currently WGA strike, for instance, and for that infamously playful 2016 interview with former President Donald Trump.
Other late night hosts have also crossed the line on a number of occasions, with Jimmy Kimmel, Jay Leno and David Letterman also issuing statements, or on-air mea culpas, asking viewers to forgive their missteps and misdeeds.
Here are some of the most scandalous moments in late night TV.

On Feb. 18, Utah Jazz legend Karl Malone will be a judge during the Slam Dunk Contest at NBA All-Star Weekend in Salt Lake City. On the surface, an all-time great participating in All-Star festivities in their former team’s home city makes sense; the league is banking on most fans summing up his presence that way. But in reality, having him there overlooks a past full of abhorrent behavior.

Update: LeBron James is now the No. 2 all-time scorer in NBA history, passing former Laker Karl Malone. Ahead lies another former Laker, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
Malone scored 36,928 points. Abdul-Jabbar’s record of 38,387 is in reach by next year.
James has officially scored more points all-time in the regular season and playoffs than any other player. But the National Basketball Assn. considers the all-time scoring record to be regular season only. Thus, Abdul-Jabbar is still No. 1 in the books as the official scoring champion.
“I will not allow myself to think about it. I’ve always just played the game the way I’ve been playing it over the years, and these things have just happened organically by just going out and playing the game the right way,” James said. “Hope to accomplish that at some point in my career, but I won’t think about it too much.”

Sean Hannity turned Jimmy Kimmel’s words about Caitlyn Jenner right back around on him, calling the ABC late-night host an “ignorant asshole.”
Kimmel had previously referred to Jenner as an “ignorant a-hole” over remarks the gubernatorial candidate made about homelessness in her home state of California.
“Far-left, low-rated late-night host Jimmy Kimmel is spewing more hatred and more rage, saying, ‘Is it transphobic to call a trans person an ignorant a-hole?'” Hannity rhetorically said on Monday night’s “Hannity.” “In response to our interview with Caitlyn Jenner talking about the real problem of homelessness.”

Alyssa Milano darkened her complexion for a Funny or Die video back in 2013, but she's adamant that it wasn't blackface.
The former Charmed actress was accused of doing blackface in a sketch by LifeZette, claiming that a "damning photo" had come "back to haunt her."
Milano screenshotted the article and said the following of the allegation.
"Hey, assholes. The below picture is me parodying Jersey Shore and Snooki's [sic] tan," wrote Milano.
"Snookie's tan (she is a sweetheart by the way) is worthy of parodying as is Trump's 'tan.' So go f--k yourselves with your smear campaign."
Milano then shared the full Funny or Die Jersey Shore parody, which showed her dressing up as a Jersey Shore resident with a notably darker complexion, thanks to a dark tan.
She is also kitted out with duck lips.

A scene from “The Office” in which a character appears in blackface has been edited out, Variety has confirmed.
The show’s creator Greg Daniels issued the following statement regarding the scene from the 2012 episode “Dwight Christmas.”
“‘The Office’ is about a group of people trying to work together with mutual respect despite the inappropriate actions of their boss and assistant manager,” said Daniels. “The show employed satire to expose unacceptable behavior and deliver a message of inclusion. Today we cut a shot of an actor wearing blackface that was used to criticize a specific racist European practice. Blackface is unacceptable and making the point so graphically is hurtful and wrong. I am sorry for the pain that caused.”

That delay was a mistake. There is nothing more important to me than your respect, and I apologize to those who were genuinely hurt or offended by the makeup I wore or the words I spoke.”

Jimmy Kimmel is apologizing for a blackface impression he did of NBA star Karl Malone in the mid- and late 1990s.
The ABC late night host, who's currently taking a summer break from Jimmy Kimmel Live!, issued the statement Tuesday. It comes amid a continued reckoning in the industry over racist depictions of Black people and other people of color in the past, ranging from Gone With the Wind being temporarily removed from HBO Max to Hulu pulling down four episodes of 30 Rock that featured blackface scenes.

Disney CEO Bob Iger said that the company “chose to deal with privately” with the past incidents of current Disney employees Jimmy Kimmel and Joy Behar darkening their skin, both of which have resurfaced in recent months.
Those issues were brought up at Disney’s annual shareholder meeting on Thursday by the National Center for Public Policy Research’s Justin Danhof. He asked Iger to comment on the two’s history — Kimmel wore dark makeup when playing NBA Hall of Famer Karl Malone and Oprah Winfrey on “The Man Show,” while Behar attended a Halloween party in the 1970s dressed as a “beautiful African woman.”
Danhof asked Iger if they’re “held to a different standard than politicians and newscasters because they are comedians?” Here was Iger’s response: “The specific incidents that you raised, we chose to deal with privately. We did not feel that it required any particular comment.

A version of this story about Hiro Murai first appeared in the Down to the Wire issue of TheWrap’s Emmy magazine.
You may have only just heard of him, but Hiro Murai is done talking.
The 35-year-old Los Angeles-based director is just now developing his first feature film, but in 2018 he’s already released two feverishly discussed pieces of pop culture: the “Teddy Perkins” episode of “Atlanta,” for which Murai is nominated for a directing Emmy, and the music video for Childish Gambino’s provocative “This Is America.”
They both demanded attention and were the subject of countless think pieces and YouTube dissections analyzing hidden symbols and allusions behind every frame. Murai initially weighed in on what it all meant, but there was so much to unpack that he eventually had to step back.

Glover left “Community” midway through the show’s fifth season in 2013, citing a need for more independent projects. This led to his own series, “Atlanta,” on FX, a comedy that has already won him two Emmys and two Golden Globes.
Glover’s musical performance on “SNL” will be one of his final big performances as Childish Gambino, as he revealed at last year’s Governors Ball Festival in New York that he will be retiring from hip-hop after one more album. His 2016 album “Awaken, My Love!” went gold in America and earned a Grammy nomination for Album of the Year.
Glover will play the famed smuggler Lando Calrissian in “Solo: A Star Wars Story,” which will reveal how the future head of Cloud City first met Han Solo. Glover will also play Simba in the 2019 live-action remake of “The Lion King.”

In the acting world there is a certain hierarchy that exists and is not to be challenged no matter what. I was drafted by the Houston Rockets in the first round with the 16th overall pick. Some people would see this as a huge honor, but I saw it as 15 picks too late. I was slighted, and I was going to make sure that the league knew it. As a loud mouthed power forward from Boston College, I quickly went to work making a name for myself. I dominated the boards, blew up the highlight reels and spoke my mind in press conferences, often to the chagrin of my teammates. Then, something horrible happened. Somewhere in the midst of my hall of fame bound career, somehow out of a million fans, I won over Justin Bieber as a personal fan.
NBA 2K13 found itself in an odd position development wise. The series took over the basketball genre a few years ago, and has dominated to the point where there literally isn’t any competition left.

A week ago, this question would have been much easier to answer. Without a championship ring under his belt, LeBron James is merely an explosive all-round forward, a physical specimen and a great player. That is not to say that such a description isn’t impressive, but in the history of NBA many have been considered “great.”
With a ring under his belt however, LeBron James has vaulted himself onto a list of some of the greatest NBA players of all time.
