One might not have noticed, but Akshay Kumar owns the biggest franchise in Hindi Cinema. The Khiladi franchise has as many as 8 films. Interestingly, except for two, all of them have done exceedingly well, earning a hit tag for themselves. All of these 8 films are standalone films.
Akshay starred in the first Khiladi film in 1992, which was his first successful action film. In fact, the name Khiladi Kumar was coined for the actor since he never looked back after the first film’s success.
All the Khiladi films belong to the action genre, and Akshay Kumar was the first action superstar of the 90s. The only film in the Khiladi franchise that was not action-dominated was Mr. & Mrs. Khiladi, which belonged to the comedy genre.

The posters of fitness sensation Guru Mann’s upcoming film ‘Pagalpan Next Level’ have rekindled the memories of the Bollywood movie, the Akshay Kumar-starrer ‘International Khiladi’, which was directed by renowned filmmaker Umesh Mehra.
In an interesting twist of fate, ‘International Khiladi’ has a unique connection with ‘Pagalpan Next Level’ as the latter film is helmed by Aryeman Keshu Ramsay, who is the son of Umesh Mehra.
The inspiration for these uncanny comparisons arises from the striking visual parallels between the two films.
Both Guru, who plays the lead in ‘Pagalpan Next Level’, and Akshay Kumar, who headlined ‘International Khiladi’, are fitness icons who have indelibly marked the landscape of fitness in India.
The visual similarities in both ‘Pagalpan Next Level’ and ‘International Khiladi’ are captured in intense and powerful poses of Guru and Akshay that radiate raw energy. This powerful imagery forms a common thread that binds these two movies across time.

Former actress Somy Ali took a trip down memory lane and talked about how she worked in three shifts to shoot for three different projects.
Somy took to Instagram, where she shared a slew of pictures from her 1994 film ‘Yaar Gaddar’, which also stars Saif Ali Khan, Mithun Chakraborty and Prem Chopra.
She wrote: “This is why we did three shifts in one day back in the 90’s. We worked on three different movies in each shift and there were times that I was so exhausted, I’d forget which character I was playing.
“This is again in 1994 with all my favourites. Umesh ji was one of the nicest directors I have worked with and I miss this entire group tons. Yaar Gaddar was a fun experience and it will always remain close to my heart.”
‘Yaar Gaddar’ is directed by Umesh Mehra. The film revolved around two brothers.

When Saif Ali Khan entered Bollywood in 1993 as a 23-year-old, his claim to fame was being veteran actress Sharmila Tagore and legendary cricketer Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi's son. It didn't help matters that his debut film "Parampara" failed to ignite the screens despite the presence of Aamir Khan along with stalwarts Vinod Khanna and Sunil Dutt, and despite being directed by Yash Chopra. To make matters worse, when he tried going solo as a hero in his second release with Umesh Mehra's "Aashik Aawara", the outcome was a disaster. The audience wrote him off as a misfit in Bollywood, who could neither act nor fight nor dance on screen.
The turning point came when he took to comedy, after as many as four releases failed to have any impact for him. His fifth release, the 1994 rom-com "Yeh Dillagi" co-starring Akshay Kumar and Kajol, wasn't exactly a blockbuster, but...

The bottle-friendly anti-hero Devdas from Saratchandra Chatterjee's immortal saga is no longer an incorrigible incurable alcoholic.
Aur Devdas, Sudhir Mishra's revisionist version of the story features a Devdas played by the talented Rahul Bhat (Anurag Kashyap's discovery said to be outstanding in Ugly) who is trying to kick the alcoholic habit and goes into a rehabilitation centre for rigorous detoxification.
This makes Mishra's Devdas the most unique interpretation of Saratchandra's tragic and doomed lover hero, so far played by Dilip Kumar in Bimal Roy's Devdas, Shah Rukh Khan in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Devdas and Abhay Deol in Anurag Kashyap's crisp and kinky Dev D.
Rahul Bhat went through rigorous training to get his role right.
Says the promising new actor, "Devdas is an alcoholic. But in Sudhir Sir's version he is trying his utmost to fight his addiction."
Bhat's Devdas tries to get himself rehabilitated repeatedly.

Born in a very middle class family, this man has got his feet firm on the ground, even when he has not just touched the stars, but also become a star himself! No wonder that they aptly say that these are the stuff that superstars are made of. Not many know that Anil Kapoor made his celluloid debut with 'Pallavi Anu Pallavi', a Kannada film that was directed by the ace Mani Ratnam. While in Bollywood, Anil Kapoor was first seen in Umesh Mehra's Hamare Tumhare in a supporting role. But the films that...
