Rubin M. Mendoza
- Producer
Rubin Mendoza has over 20 years in the entertainment field. After attending
California State University at Long Beach, he began his producing
career with over 250 music videos for some of the world's top music
talent such as Michael Jackson, Will Smith, U2, Jennifer Lopez, Celine
Dion, Stevie Wonder and countless others. Equally prolific is his work
in commercials, where he has produced national spots for well-known
products such as Coca Cola, ATT, Chevrolet, Panasonic, Mc Donald's and
Verizon. His films include the cult favorite, High Strung, which
featured a young Jim Carey, appearing as the Grim Reaper himself. He
also served as producer on the critically acclaimed film Dead
Presidents, directed by the award winning Hughes Brothers.
In addition to producing various videos and commercials for The Hughes Brothers (The Book of Eli), Rubin has produced various types of projects for many other renowned directors, such as, Robert Rodriguez (Spy Kids), Brett Ratner (Rush Hour), and Paul Hunter (Bullet Proof Monk), naming just a few that have entrusted their vision to him. This includes producing over 50 music videos for Hype Williams, who at the time was almost single-handedly credited for changing the face of music videos in the early 2000's.
Rubin's numerous awards include a Video Music of The Year Award (MTV Moonman) for the music video Lady Marmalade, a Clio Award for The Hughes Brothers directed Stray Bullet (a multi-award winning anti-violence PSA), plus a Grammy nomination in the Best Short Form Music Video category, not to mention numerous MVPA nominations and awards throughout the years.
His resume also includes concert films, infomercials and PSAs. Add an incredibly calm demeanor and serving as Executive Producer/Partner at RAW Entertainment, where 2001 to 2003 company billings amounted to almost 100 million dollars (in commercials and music videos), and you have a well-rounded and experienced producer capable of leading any film or TV project, regardless of complexity or budget.
He currently resides in the Los Angeles area with his wife and two young sons where he freelances as a producer, while simultaneously developing film and television projects.
