After fleeing from the persecution of Jews in Nazi Germany, he established the Little Viennese Theatre in Britain in 1939. During the 1950's, he appeared in over 1,000 performances of Agatha Christie's "The Mousetrap" on stage. On screen typically essayed amiable old academics or scientists.
He is the father of Daniel Miller - owner of legendary UK indie record label, Mute Records (home of Depeche Mode, Yaz, Erasure, Nick Cave, Goldfrapp among many others).
